Face The Past Before The Future

As warriors rushed them, Beth was the first to be locked into battle with her once allies. The first to get into her range was cut in half with a single swing of Hofund. The next sword swung at her, she simply blocked with Gungnir. When the warrior fell behind her, she back kicked him down to the ground. The next Athenian Warrior, Beth casually stepped forward, and stabbed through the stomach. She tossed her corpse off of Odin's ancient spear and in doing so, accidentally sliced another Athenian Warrior's head in half. She flipped the spear into her underhand and decided to add a little style to her next lethal strike. She turned and slid backwards on her heels as she impaled an Athenian Warrior without even looking. She never even saw the unfortunate soldier's face as she kicked the corpse off her temporarily gifted divine treasure.
"How are you all doing... oh."
When she looked back, Beth saw the chaos unfolding with her friends all around her. A warrior swung an axe at Marc's neck, but he grabbed the weapon's handle. Before the Athenian Warrior could pull it back, Marc crushed his head with his electrified mace. Behind him, Mikayla fired a barrage of magical spells. With each three she fired, at least one hit and killed its intended target. A warrior tried to attack Kenneth, but he grabbed her, and threw her down to the ground. With her down on the ground, he decided to finish her with a barrage of stomps that were so fast it looked like his foot wasn't even moving. Nate was having the time of his life, hacking and slashing through Athenian Warriors. He'd missed this feeling, cutting through hated enemies without any restriction. He loved fights with challenge, sure, but there was never anything like massacring the enemy forces.
"It's been a while since my last good slaughter!" Nate yelled as he continued to cleave through the seemingly endless flow of warriors "It feels great!"
He used the momentum of his last swing to spin around and get a triple kill. He continued moving with the momentum of his attacks and swung his left blade up through a warrior's chest. After swinging up, he leapt into the air, and kicked the next Athenian Warrior he saw. In the split second before he touched the ground, as he knew that would be when he was the most vulnerable, Nate used World Lag to stop his enemies. When he landed, he swung both blades through the warriors surrounding him.
"Ainfijar allahab!" Mikayla yelled, which was an Egyptian spell that blew up the ground beneath a shockingly large amount of enemies.
Eden ripped several roots out of the ground and launched them at the enemy. They continuously fell and two threw their axes at Demeter's daughter. She took a breath and dive rolled between the flying weapons. She got back up to her feet and launched another volley of sharpened roots.
"Man, these new weapons are incredible!" Marc exclaimed as he swung his mace through another neck, clearly decapitating his current opponent "Oh, you want some, too?" He used a lightning blast to chain between several warriors, not stopping until their hearts burst within their chests "No, no you didn't." He swung his mace through the next closest warrior's chest, bursting each and every one of her ribs "Come get this!" He leapt at another warrior and continued the rampage.
A hammer wielding child of Hephaestus swung at Mikayla's head, but she leapt away. When he swung down at her head again, she teleported behind him. When she reappeared, she tapped his shoulder to get his attention. When he turned back around, she blasted him with a magic sphere. He went flying through the gates of Hades and... just decided to stay back. When she noticed someone else coming up behind her, Mikayla back kicked the warrior. She turned and swung her blades through his head again, and again, and again, and again until his head was nothing more than a puddle of blood and bone fragments.
Beth was back to slaughtering her enemies with both Hofund and Gungnir. First, she stabbed a warrior through the top of the head with Gungnir. After that, she tossed him away and chopped the next in half diagonally. Using the momentum of the downward swing, she spun around, and stabbed the next target with Gungnir. When she landed, she found herself surrounded on all sides.
"Ugh, I had forgotten how annoying our numbers were," Beth groaned as she looked around. "Makes sense, though. Mother had millenia to gather an army."
She began swinging wildly, yet with clear purpose as she cleaved through everyone blocking her path up to the top. She let out a loud yell as she swung Gungnir's blade through three of her assailants. Next, she turned, and brought Hofund down through five opponents. She spun as she crouched down and chopped several legs off at the thighs. She got up and let out a loud roar as she unleashed another powerful, crushing swing with Hofund. She barely noticed, but the sword seemed to have been imbued with the power to create a World Lag effect when swung hard enough... or something. She charged up the stairs, her friends running in slow motion with her.
When it wore off, Eden used roots from under the ground to pull an Athenian Warrior down into the ground. Marc created a shockwave which blew several warriors off the mountain. They had made it up to the point that they could actually fall off the mountainside, which was a new hazard they had to watch out for. A child of Hestia threw a fireball at Nate, but he just stabbed through it with his dual blades. With that, they all began to advance again, making their way through the last of Athena's elite warriors. Mikayla rushed an opponent and spun her changed daggers around, slicing through several opponents. When another swung at her head, Nate came to her side, and blocked the attack. The two God Killers looked at each other and nodded. Nate looked over at Eden who used roots to knock the Athenian Warrior into the air. Nate leapt up into the air and threw one of his swords into the warrior's chest. The sword pinned the warrior into the ground as he landed before Heimdallr's son did. When Nate came back to the ground, an axe wielder charged him. He didn't even bother looking back as Marc shot the Athenian Warrior off the side of the mountain.
As Nate tore his blade out of the ground and uncaringly threw the corpse on it aside, he looked around and asked "Does anyone else hear that?" Even the Athenian Warriors stopped attacking as thunderous stomping footsteps became closer and closer "Greece, Athena, I think I know where this is going." As if on cue, a Cyclops began to stomp down the stairs "Huh, didn't expect that... but what the Hel's wrong with his eye?" Nate watched as three Athenian Warriors tried to get closer to him, only to be batted away by his massive club "Oh..." Another duo was slapped away and Nate realized "Oh, it's Polyphemus! He's blind, that's amazing!" he began to laugh hysterically, Athena must have really been desperate if a blind Cyclops was the best she could come up with.
Eden swung her staff and knocked three Athenian Warriors down and they began to tumble down the stairs. She crouched and used the weapon to sweep another warrior off his feet. This time, he stumbled and plummeted off the side of the mountain. She stood up and slammed one end of her spear into her next target's stomach, causing her to fall to her knees, and tumble down the stairs with the rest of her peers. Eden continued her uncharacteristic rampage, but then again, she was as irritated as the others. Athena had ruined the lives of her friends, hurt them, humiliated them, and caused them to be on the run for a long time now. It was time for the Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War Strategy to finally reap the swift consequences of her actions. She leapt up into the air, brought her weapon up and behind her head, and slammed it down. The impact caused a few people to lose their balance and one to fall off the mountain.
"Damn, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!" Nate teased as he ran past her.
He opened with an unpredictable, unblockable, and undodgeable flurry of swings. In these attacks, he chopped, sliced, and cleaved through over twenty Athenian Warriors. He turned and stabbed the next Warrior that was foolish enough to approach him. He ripped his right blade out and swung upward with his left, cutting an Athenian Warrior in half vertically. When he was done with his next opponent, he began to run up the stairs with his friends.
"We have to take care of the Cyclops!" He yelled to Beth.
"His eye is even more vulnerable now," She told him "If we can get someone in there, one good strike should be enough!"
"And who of us is stupid enough to actually- Marc!"
Said son of Thrud knocked an Athenian Warrior to the ground and replied "Yeah?" He swung his mace and crushed the warrior's head beneath it.
"We've got a plan to take that thing down!" Nate called back "We'll need you to blast its eye when we give the signal!"
"On it." The two Aesir descendants ran together and Beth was about to follow when she saw someone familiar walking through the battle.
Heracles was back and it was clear he had her in his sights, which wouldn't be too bad if he wasn't tearing through literally every Athenian Warrior he came across, for seemingly no reason. He kicked a warrior down onto his back and chopped him in half with his signature bronze sword. In his left hand was his equally iconic club, which he slammed down onto another warrior's back. He fell off the mountain and he brought the club up to block the next axe swing that came down at him. He stabbed the warrior in the chest, then kicked him away. Heracles looked back and swung his sword through another Athenian Warrior. With his club, he bashed two heads into pulps with a single strike each. He turned and blocked another sword swing with his club before cutting the warrior down.
"You know what? I will deal with him after Polyphemus," Beth told herself.
With that, she began to charge toward the monster and threw Gungnir at him. It struck him in what was left of his massive Sclera, which made him roar in pain. Kenneth ran in and slashed both of his knees, making Polyphemus drop. Wanting to make sure he wouldn't move away, Eden ensnared his wrists, ankles, and neck in roots. Seeing the signal they had mentioned, Marc charged up his weapon, and with Mikayla's help, they fired a magically enhanced lightning bolt into his eye. He let out a loud roar before falling onto his stomach, the God Killers having finished the job that Oddyseus had started over three thousand five hundred years prior.
"Now... to earn the name God Killer," Beth sighed as she turned to Heracles "Time to die, False God!"
"I'm not the one dying today," He told her.
The two began to charge one another, both ready for the rematch that would decide who was truly more powerful. Speaking of powerful, when their weapons collided, a shockwave of dust and sparks exploded from the impact point. With Gungnir being pushed down by Heracles' sword, Beth knew that the spear would be useless. She swung Hofund up and knocked the sword away before then leaning back to dodge under a potentially skull shattering swing from the club. She swung back up and swung both Gungnir and Hofund across Heracles' face. It would've been an instantaneously kill shot, but the Nemean Lion pelt he was wearing protected him from the lethality of the attack. Heracles spun around and swung both of his weapons at Beth's head and chest. The younger of the two Demigods quickly brought Gungnir up and used its lengthy pole to push both of the elder half breed's weapons down away from her body. With Gungnir holding his weapons, she flipped Hofund in her grip, and slammed it into his nose.
"Oh, you and your team just never seem to be able to know when to quit, do you!?"
"No, not really. Why else would my mother have sent for a monster and a Demigod to come deal with us?"
At that, he brought his blade down at her, but she just stepped back to dodge. He spun around with the momentum of his attack and tried to break every rib and piece of her vertebrae with his club. Beth, however, was smart enough to see a gigantic hunk of wood coming at her, and dive rolled over it. She got back up and instantaneously used Hofund to block a stab from his bronze sword. She used the long barbs to lock the sword into the spear and she spun the weapons down to the ground. She rolled over his back and when he turned around, he leapt away from a spinning slash. When he landed, Heracles rushed Beth, and swung his club at her head. Beth blocked the attack with Hofund, but the weapon fell out of her hand, so she was unable to block a punch to her nose. She stumbled back and Heracles spun around before slamming his club into the side of her head! Beth fell onto her side and began to tumble down the steps, but stopped herself before she got too face.
"Get up and face death like a warrior," Heracles told her as he stepped toward the younger Demigod, but she didn't, instead looking around for any weapon to defend herself with "Hm... perhaps I was wrong about you." he swung the wooden weapon down at her head, but she dive rolled away from the attack.
She got up further up the stairs and Nate tossed her one of his swords. She caught it, leapt into the air, and spun around before swinging down at Heracles' head. He blocked the attack with his sword, so she pushed the weapon down, spun, and roundhouse kicked him in the side of the head. He staggered backwards and when she spun around again, she batted the club out of his hand. It went flying out of his hand and off of the mountain. In response to this, Heracles swung his bronze sword at her head. Beth ducked underneath the attack and did a back breakfall to avoid the next. When he swung down at her, she curled up, and sprung back up to her feet by pushing off her hands. When Beth got back to her feet, she jumped at Heracles. She planted both feet on his chest and launched herself up into the air above him. When she was directly above him, she turned upside down, and swung the blade at the back of his head. Heracles had anticipated this strike and ducked under it, letting the lion he was wearing take the strike as it was impervious to all damage. When she landed behind him, she put the sword in Hofund's sheath. When Heracles swung down at her again, she turned around, and grabbed his arm. With all her strength, Beth flung the much taller and more muscular Demigod over her shoulder. He went flying and stopped himself before he fell too far down the stairs.
"Urgh... this girl's tenacity is becoming annoying," Heracles growled. "Now I guess I know what Eurystheus felt like each time I got back. Crazy bastard cousin..." He looked up and saw that she was running at him again with Hofund now in her hand once more "What the... then where did the other?" As if on cue, Nate looked over and held his blade up "Their team work is frustratingly solid." He looked down and saw Gungnir lying at his feet "Hm... I've never wielded a weapon of this power before. How about I give it a try?"
He gave his sword to his left hand and grabbed Gungnir with the right. When Beth got close enough, Heracles got to one knee, and stabbed up at his throat! Beth had to stop herself and turned her body before leaning away from the Bifrost infused tip. She'd been hit by Nate's Bifrost before and that pain nearly brought her to suicide, so she didn't want to know what an even stronger dose would do. While the blade was keeping Beth busy, Heracles stood back up. He pulled his foot back before slamming his booted heel into Beth's stomach. She went flying back up the stairs and past her friends still fighting Athenian Warriors. She bounced off a step and slowly barrel rolled back up to her feet. When she heard someone jump into the air, she looked up, and yup, there was Heracles, ready to end her with the very spear she'd been leant for... well the fight to come, no one had expected this surprisingly intense and epic rematch. Beth brought Hofund up above her head and blocked Heracles' powerful attack.
"You're not bad," Heracles admitted as he roundhouse kicked her in the side of the neck "I can actually see how you managed to beat me last time." When he swung his other leg up in a crescent kick, Beth ducked under the attack "However, today's outcome will not be the same as our last." When he landed, he spun around, and thrust his heel into her stomach, sending her flying backwards, coming to a stop at the top of the stairs "Goodbye, my niece."
"Leave her alone!" Heracles barely had a chance to take in what he was hearing before Gungnir was taken away from him.
"Hey! What the-!" Roots wrapped around his arms and legs, immobilizing him
"Kenneth, now!" On cue, the son of Hermes ran up to Heracles and gave him a roundhouse kick and knee strike combination "Mikayla, now you!"
"Alright!" The mildly sadistic and very excited daughter of Circe sent a blast of magic into Heracles' eye, then swung her chained dagger across his stomach.
"My turn!" Marc smashed his electrified mace across Heracles' jaw, sending the lion pelt flying off with the force of his attack "Oh, I'm not done!" Marc stabbed his weapon into the ground and created an electric snare that held Heracles down on his knees "Beth! Now's your chance to finish him!"
She nodded and stabbed Hofund and Gungnir into his feet and told him "You were right earlier, about this outcome being different. I have my friends with me this time, and you will not survive this round." Nate created a clearly unstable ball of Bifrost in a perfectly spherical casing and put it in her hand "Begone, uncle."
She tore the divine spear out of his foot and underhand tossed the sphere at her uncle. Right before it landed, she tore the sword out of his other foot. The group began to walk away as the Bifrost grenade exploded! Chunks of the ground and the dead remains of Athena's army of Demigods rained down all around them. A few stragglers began to pop up and Mikayla decided that she and Eden would take care of them. Now that they were at the top, it was just them and Athena's team of Gods, now the final fight truly began.
