A few hours later, the van pulled up in front of the camp's entrance. It was clearly in bad shape and a bunch of people rushed over, including Eir. Nate and Kenneth also walked over and saw the driver door burst open, then Beth fell out. Everyone rushed over to her and Nate pulled her back up to her feet. It was clear she was exhausted so he put his shoulder under her armpit and helped her walk to her cabin. Eir looked over her and aside from the massive gash in her arm, she was mostly unharmed. Nate decided to stay with Eir and Beth in the cabin as she stitched up the now unconscious girl's arm. The valkyrie stood up after about fifteen minutes and told Nate to stay with Beth. He agreed and tried to find a way to keep himself entertained until she woke up.
About an hour and a half later, she groaned as she sat up, and Nate asked "So, how'd it go?"
She looked over at him and then down at her arm, and finally backed up to him before asking "Do you need to ask?"
"Yeah, I do," He replied while looking at her "You left with three other dudes, you were the only one to return. At some point I was bound to ask."
"I would have thought you would look into my mind?"
"I told you, I don't do that anymore. I still have issues sleeping, but after years of therapy with Eir, I can finally actually get good sleep. I don't feel like bothering her with my mind trouble again, and to stop that from happening, I'm not gonna look into any of you morons' heads."
"Huh... I guess that is fair enough." She moved herself and sat on the edge of her bed "But yes, it went worse than any mission I have been assigned for."
"You were covered in blood, everything you just said checks out," Nate replied "Magnus was a good dude, Alvin too."
"What about Aiden? He was there, too."
"Who's Aiden?"
"The sniper who was with us. I think he was a Váli son."
"Oh... I never met him."
"Well... remember when you told me that they are kind of ruthless, but I did not take you at your word?"
"Yeah, what's up?"
"Magnus and Aiden slaughtered a whole bunch of innocent people a few minutes before they themselves were killed," Beth told him "We needed a vantage point, and they did not want any attention to be drawn to us, so they killed anyone who saw us."
"Hm, guess that no witnesses thing isn't just a movie thing," Nate groaned "Okay... so I kinda lied about the whole I don't look into Athenian Warrior heads anymore. I saw into Magnus's head and noticed something interesting."
"What was it?"
"Apparently there were supposed to be five people with you, this Apollo daughter named Andrea."
"Wait, what? Why would you look into his head, but not mine?"
"Don't ask questions, I don't know exactly who this chick is, but knowing the Athenian Warriors, they'll find her, and have some uh... let's just say questions."
"Hm... how long would you say that would take to happen?"
"I'd say a few days," Nate said nonchalantly "Either way, shouldn't affect me." He got up and walked out of her cabin and took his sword off of his hip, just because he liked playing with it when he was on his own.
Beth decided to spend the next day in bed as her arm was still killing her. She knew she had classes, but they were just history and math classes. She was passing both and didn't care about either, so she could stand to miss them. She could hear everything going on outside and watched through her window, but didn't bother to join in. Apparently another new person had come along and he was a son of Circe. She didn't take part in the games, but she could hear that the party would start soon. She decided to wrap her arm in spare bandages and got into some sweatpants and a sleeveless t-shirt. She walked out of her house at sunset and joined in on the party. She looked around at everyone and she smiled, not having seen a party like this in ages. Everyone was dressed much differently than when her party had been, since she had arrived in late fall, and it was the middle of July.
She looked around and saw a vast change in the clothing choices from the people she knew. Nate was wearing his usual sweatpants, but his jacket was wrapped around his waist, and he was wearing a Ramstein T-Shirt. She had been allowed to take two friends with her to a concert, so she took him and Kenneth, and Nate had... borrowed the shirt. Kenneth usually wore a blue hoodie and jeans, but today he was wearing shorts and a tank top. Eden had switched her sweater and cargo pants with gray camo yoga pants and a dark gray tube top. Mikayla had switched from fully pastel to a more vibrant pink that faded down to pale yellow for her hair color. Her outfit was very anime inspired, and extremely similar to Mitsuri Kanjori's from an anime she started watching called Demon Slayer. Marc was wearing a tank top and jeans rather than a tshirt and a pair of heavy cargo pants.
"Hey, guys," Beth said as she walked up to Nate and Marc.
"Hey! Good to see ya, buddy!" Marc exclaimed in an extremely slurred speech.
"Uh... is he okay?" She asked Nate, who had the same drink in his hand that Marc had in both of his.
"We're Asier born, we start drinkin' early, and we start drinkin' a lot," Nate replied casually "Meed. I'm surprised you haven't had the urge to bang everyone in the camp."
"Ew! Nate, you are disgusting!" Beth yelled, then she muttered, "Though, there is this one guy who-"
"Hey, you're born to a God of Olympus. Not my fault most of them are sex happy bastards." He took another swig of meed and asked "Had any sexual thoughts recently? Ah, just kidding, I've seen into your head. You love a few of those warriors, don't you?"
"Are you drunk?"
"Nah... nah, nah, nah. Maybe just a little buzzed, but that's probably it."
"Okay, give me that." She grabbed the mug out of Nate's hand and downed it.
"Damn... let's see if you can hold it..." He wound up and punched her in the stomach, which instantly made Beth throw it back up "So, what's up with you?" He looked down at the vomit on his shirt and just threw it away without batting an eye.
"I am a teenage girl, in a Greek version of a gang with all sorts of Demigods. I just watched my comrades slaughter innocents without blinking an eye. Then they get killed themselves. And I will never answer that question you just asked. But I will tell you this." She grabbed his shirt and pulled him dangerously close to her, "I am a teenage girl, of course I have those thoughts." He playfully headbutted her and she playfully shoved him back and took another swig of meed, already tipsy, "Fuck the life of a Demigod." The other greek-borns that were with them yelled in agreement.
"Ah! You're no fun... being a half superhero is great." Beth sighed and went to go talk to Eden and Kenneth, because those two were essentially useless in their current state.
