Down in the depths of the living pit Tarturus, Coeus had Eden pinned against a wall as he growled "You dare show your face to me after what your mother has done!?"
"Co- Coeus..." She rasped out "Please... we did not come... to cause you any trouble..."
"What else would an Olympian born want with a Titan!?" The enraged Titan asked while tightening his grip.
"We needed... your help!" Eden yelled and Coeus let her go "Ugh, thank you!" She fell to her knees and coughed up a few drops of blood "We need any information you can give us on-"
Before she could continue, Coeus said "That would take over an eon, so I will try to keep this as condensed as possible." Eden was about to stop him... but then she found herself genuinely interested, so she sat down, and listened to what Coeus had to say.
In the beginning, there were simply the Primordial Gods, a few of which being Chaos, Achlys, and Aether. The Gods did more procreating than fighting, but the latter was definitely prevalent as well. The Titan Goddess, Gaea eventually gave birth to the Titan Lord, Ouranos... who ended up taking her as his wife. Those two eventually had twelve Titan children, the males being named by their father as Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, and Cronus, and the daughters were named by their mother, and their names were Thea, Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, and Tethys. They also had three children whom they named Aegaeon, Cottus, and Gygeshowever, Uranus was disgusted by these three as they had fifty heads and a hundred arms... so their father threw them down into Tarturus. After a little while, they also had three more children, who were also deformed, having only one eye. Before tossing these three down into Tarturus as well, Uranus decided to name them Arges, Brontes, and Steropes.
"You still remember their names?" Eden asked.
"The Hecatoncheires, or whatever name they gave themselves, keep us all here, so yes. Yes I know all of their names. Now shut up unless you want to be here until you are nothing but bone dust." Eden quietly nodded and Coeus continued.
After the Cyclopes were thrown into Tarturus, Gaea became saddened and angry with her husband... and son. She decided to take revenge, but not in a direct way as she had no chance against her son... so she used one of her other sons, more specifically, her youngest son. Gaea spoke to Cronus and explained what she needed him to do, and gave him an evil stone sickle. He agreed to what she wanted and that night, when his father's guard was down, Chronus struck! In a swift motion, he severed both of his Ouranos' testicles... what Gaea had expected this to achieve, Chronus had no idea... However, it seemed to work. His father rose up into the air and became the sky... and then ceased to do anything except sit there. After his castration of his father, Chronus took his place as ruler of the world he and his family inhabited. None of the others had much issue with this and just let him rule as he seemed fit to. After a while, Chronus fell in love with his elder sister Rhea, which didn't make too much sense to Coeus, but it wasn't his problem. After taking his sister and coercing her into sleeping with him, they had a child, a daughter, whom they named Hestia. After having taken his father's place as ruler, Chronus became increasingly paranoid of one of his children doing the same thing. When Hestia was born, Chronus took her, and ate her, imprisoning the Goddess in his stomach. The next four children, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon were also devoured.
"Wait, hold on. Chronus was scared of his kids overthrowing him, so instead of just... treating them well and showing that he was a good person, he just ate them?" Eden realized.
"Uh... yes, that is about what happened," Coeus agreed.
"Also, I never noticed how... strange all of your names are."
"Child, you're named after a garden from some mythology that came along after we got stuck down here, you don't get to judge. Now, be quiet."
After Poseidon was eaten, Rhea knew her next child must be spared the father's hunger. When her youngest son, Zeus, was born and Chronus came for him, she concocted a plan. When he heard her husband and brother coming, she swaddled a stone, and... for some reason called it Agia Dynati. Coeus knew of his sister's betrayal of his brother but there was a part of him that really didn't care. She sent Zeus into hiding in a cave and left him in the care of a group of Nymphs until he was old enough to fend for himself. When he was old enough, Gaea told him of his nature, and sent him on his path to take revenge against his father. She bestowed upon him the very sickle he had used on his father many years prior and told Zeus what to do. Before he could castrate his father, however, he had to free his siblings so they could face their aunts and uncles together. To fight his father the way he was at the moment would've been suicide, so he knew he had to use his brain instead of his brawn. Chronus wouldn't have known of his appearance as he thought he had swallowed him, so it shouldn't have been too difficult to befriend the Titan Lord. Zeus found it unsettlingly easy to befriend his father and while they were drinking one night, Zeus slipped a mustard mixture into Chronus' drink. In his drunken, dosed state, Chronus was easily tempted, so Zeus used this and asked how hard a punch he could take right to the stomach. Chronus had been willing to take the challenge and Zeus slammed his fist full force into his stomach. Chronus didn't react for a moment... then he began to drool...and then it happened. His eyes displaced for a moment, then he lurched forward, and out of his mouth came five fully grown Gods... and a rock? Zeus had no clue why his father had eaten a stone, but it wasn't his problem.
"Wait, how did Chronus not notice that his sixth child was a lot more... earthen?"
"Yeah, your grand uncle wasn't exactly the brightest, but he was the most powerful of us since he had power over all of time."
"That makes... wait, hold on."
"Hm?"
"If he has control over time, why did he not just reverse it to make sure everything goes his way? Not that I want him to, but he could have won the war technically before it even begun-"
"My brother's an idiot."
After rescuing his family from the bowls of his father, Zeus took out Chronus' old sickle. Upon seeing it, the Titan Lord of Time knew exactly who this mysterious stranger was. He tried to attack his son, but he dodged the strike, and used the exact same move on Chronus that the Titan Lord had against Ouranos. Chronus screamed and the six siblings, for the first time, all worked together to cut their father into pieces. While it was a long process, it wasn't exactly difficult. When Chronus would attack one, another would cut somewhere else. By the time they had finished, they were all covered in dark red blood and the sickle was completely destroyed. Now, the rest of Gaea and Ouranos' Titan children were getting irritated. At this point there were dozens of more Titans, so the young Gods would not be able to handle them alone. Before they would launch their inevitable strike, the Gods would need aid. They had no idea who else they could search for in order for their help, but that's when a few Titans joined their side. Their new ally Prometheus told them of the deformed children locked away within Tartarus, the Primordial being that lived to be a prison for the worst souls in all of creation. They went down to the pit, surprisingly easily, and spoke to them. After unshackling them, the Gods and their new allies turned their forces toward the Titans.
"And thus... begins the decade's long Great War," Coeus groaned.
"You mean the Titanomachy?" Eden corrected him.
"Oh, is that what you Mortals call it?"
"Hey, I am half a Goddess."
"And half Mortal, the only reason I'm not still choking the life out of you."
"Right, right. Sorry, but we do not have much information on the Titanomachy."
"That makes sense, we were so busy fighting, most people barely had time to log anything to memory, even me," Coeus explained "However, the true final battle is something I will never forget... the only battle with real casualties."
The battle took place in the Fields of Thessaly and was long fought, both sides giving their all. The Cyclopes had honed their masonry skills and created weapons for the Gods to use against their Titan foes. For Zeus, the power of the sky and storms in the palms of his hands with The Master Bolt. Poseidon and Hades had both fought with tridents earlier in the war, but the latter's was damaged. Their single eyed uncles offered to create a new one for him, but instead, he chose to have them lessen the space between the tips. Now, it was a bident, and instead of a weapon, they gave him the Helm of Darkness, which when worn, gave the wearer the ability to be unseen by anyone, God or Titan alike. Poseidon had been given a new trident, one that held unparalleled power to harness the strength and force of the oceans of their world. Of course, the sisters all got weapons of divine power, too. Hestia, the eldest of the group, had a staff with ends being constantly on fire bestowed upon her, the flames able to burn almost any living being to ash within moments of touch. Hestia decided to add insult to injury and requested a sickle from the Cyclopes, as one more stab in the stomach to her father who had imprisoned her for so many years. Hera was much less vindictive and really just wanted to get the war over with, so she put in an order for a sword. The Cyclopes forged it in the fires of their past prison and cooled the weapon in the waters with Hera's younger brother now in command. Now that their weapons had been forged, the war's tide tipped in their favor. Sure, the Titans had their own powerful weapons, but now that the Gods had their own, the fight was much more even.
The final battle lasted a year and a half by itself, both sides taking heavy damage. Everyone was already tired, exhausted, and at this point, they put their all into every single movement. The battle took place around Mount Olympus and was louder than any battle had ever been before. The seas and Earth crashed and shook from the force of the battle and the power within Poseidon's trident. The combat that took place between the beings of immense power shook the world so badly that Mount Olympus was cracking and most of the combatants feared it would fall. The two armies' clash was when Hestia battled the Titan Commander, Atlas, who was one of the Titans born with unimaginable size. Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon fought together, as did the sisters, Hera and Demeter. The six deformed siblings and the allied Titans helped the Gods in their battle. The flames on Hestia's staff were capable of being thrown like projectiles, which was useful against the massive Titan she was facing. Poseidon stabbed his trident into the ground and caused a long crack to form between the legs of his aunt Phoebe, then while she was off balance, he threw a wave at her. The water crashed into her and the Titan was thrown back into the base of Mount Olympus. Demeter spun around with her scythe, warding off a couple of the Titans who were surrounding her. When they had backed off, she spun around again, and threw her scythe into Hyperion's eye. He yelled out in pain and Hera ran toward her uncle. She shoulder checked him, knocking him to the ground, then ripped her sister's weapon out of his eye. She threw it back to Demeter and the two continued to battle their enemies. With his newly reinforced bident, Hades fought against Oceanus. In terms of raw strength, Oceanus had been superior, but Hades was faster, and had the power to be undetectable to the naked eye.
"We fought valiantly, but their numbers and power outmatched ours," Coeus explained "Chronus' kids and our deformed brothers were too much for us to handle."
Zeus had stopped holding back his full power and summoned lightning to strike from above. Dust storms and thunder clouds began to build all around the battle the longer it continued. Hestia's battle with Atlas left both combatants burned and battered. In the end, she managed to defeat him, and sent him down to Tarturus. The battle above was so fierce that even down in the darkest pit of the Underworld, the ground was shaking. Zeus' aerial attacks were still raining down on the Titans, siphoning their strength even quicker while his siblings and uncles continued the hand to hand battle. The Cyclopes used their forging tools as weapons while the Hecatoncheires used their hundred hands and sarms to attack their foes from all angles at once. After eighteen long months, the battle finally ended, and the Titans were defeated. Unlike their brother, the other Titans had their lives spared... and they were sent down to Tarturus.
"And after drifting in the River Phlegethon for who knows how long, I woke up here, like this."
"Huh... wow, that was all actually really interesting," Eden told her grand uncle while still sitting with her legs crossed "But, that was not exactly what I was here for. I need to know how to get into Hephaestus' forge. With thought that since you were the Titan Lord of Knowledge that you would know."
"Oh, that? Simple. Even I know that."
