Demigod Communion

Later that week, the Demigod Communion had finally come and the Haven was bustling with life. Gods and humans alike were being let into the camp to see their children. The camp was overflowing with people and everyone was doing something different. Some children were just relaxing in the food court with their families and talking about everything they were doing in the camp. Others were showing their parents what their cabins looked like and how they were progressing. Beth was afraid to approach Athena, especially because she was currently surrounded by her Warriors. Nate had said that he never really knew what she looked like as there were so many Gods that he could never keep track as to who was who... except for his own father of course. The Valkyrie were showing parents what their children had learned since the last time they had checked in. Children of Gods that oversaw food and its preparation were giving performances on cooking their favorite meals and dishes. Children of Hermes were racing across the sky to see who was the fastest out of all of them. Children of water Gods were enjoying either swimming in their parents' domain or watching the deities manipulate the water in ways they never thought or had even dreamt of.
Beth looked over at Nate, who was talking to his father... only this time it seemed a bit different. Every other time, the two had joked around, made light fun of others, and laughed the whole time. Now, it was like his father could barely string a sentence together and almost never managed to even understand what Nate was saying. The more she watched, the more she noticed that Nate was actually beginning to look... concerned? That was such a rare sight for her that it was almost scary. She didn't want to listen to their conversation, but it was just so surreal. His father was acting much different than usual, very irritable and restless while barely even able to stay on his feet. She felt bad that Heimdallr's mental and physical health seemed to be catching up to his age after all these millenia.
She looked over at Hermes, who was still running at the head of his children. He didn't look all that much older than any other friends, maybe just by a couple years or so. She knew this wasn't the case, as he was one of the Gods who battled the Titans. Kenneth was managing to keep up with most of them, but he was still in the middle third of the group. After about five hundred laps done in about five minutes, they stopped and most fell to the ground, panting for breath. The only ones who didn't were Hermes himself and three of his other children who had trained their endurance even harder than any of the others.
Circe didn't have many children as she spent most of her time around female water nymphs. This was clearly evident when Beth saw that Mikayla was one of the ten or fifteen people around her. Their minimal number was very easily made up for by their magical abilities. They all had different types of ways of using their magic. Mikayla was clearly the one who liked to experiment the most, so she could use her magic in more diverse ways. She could kill, heal, create, destroy, she could do literally anything... within reason. She had not figured out how to do anything that would affect an area that was larger than one of the cabins. The most she had ever been able to do was reverse the gravity in one of the Athenian Warriors' cabins to make their morning inconvenient.
Marc was talking to his mother and they were both absolutely radiant with electricity. While Marc's was a divine white, Thrud's was a pale blue. The two were... honestly she couldn't tell what they were talking about. Their electricity was so intense that they were the only ones who could hear what the other was saying. She had a feeling that even they didn't know what the other was saying half the time. Their power lit up the entire place, making the lanterns and torches everyone had set up practically irrelevant. It took a few minutes but both realized how bright and hot they had become and each calmed down so as to not blind and fry absolutely everybody.
Nate walked over to Beth and asked "Hey, you ready for the God Games later?"
"Yeah, but I am just- woah. Are you okay? You look upset."
"Wow, are you a mind reader now, too? I'm hiding it so well," Nate sighed, clearly not even trying to seem like his usual upbeat and witty self "But no, I'm not. My father barely remembers who I am, he can hardly stand, and I'm gonna have to guard the Bifrost until Ragnarök if he dies prematurely."
"That does not sound so bad."
"I literally have to stay in the same place all day every day, I have to leave you and everyone else I care about behind, and worst of all, I'm gonna be responsible for all of the nine realms being destroyed, because I'm gonna have to blow that stupid horn which starts the whole damn war! Even Odin isn't fated to survive, non the less Thor or my dad!"
"What about Thrud?"
"Oh yeah, she's supposed to be fine. As well as Magni and Modi."
"Wait, Magnus is alive!?" Beth exclaimed excitedly.
"What? No, Magni. Like the Aesir God of Strength. His brother Modi also survives, but he's a bit of a pansy ass. Did you know their names actually mean Mighty and Wrath?"
"Huh, is that right?"
"Yeah, and Thrud's name means Strength."
"Really?"
"If you two are done with your flirting, we should get to the ring," Estevan told them.
"Yeah, yeah. We're coming, you stupid grunt."
They walked toward the arena and some prepared for combat while others grabbed their weapons to show off their forms. Everyone had been working very hard to perfect their craft for the Demigod Games. Some were getting ready to spar and others practiced their weapon forms. The first to go up to the stage was Marc, who was performing a double dagger form. After him was Eden with a staff form. Mikayla was up next with an open hand form, but she still wowed the audience. Every one of them had a clearly different way in how they moved and held themselves. Mikayla was more fluid and swift with her movements, the way the mysterious energy from her magic would move through the air as she would enchant something. Eden's were much more stiff but powerful, which made sense seeing as she was very attuned with nature... trees mostly. Marc's movements and strikes were much more powerful and aggressive, much like the lightning that he could manipulate. Their weapons danced through the air as they moved with purpose and precision. Mikayla used her abilities to help her movements be more visually pleasing. Eden shortened and grew her staff depending on what move she was doing. Marc's daggers glowed and crackled with white spider web like energy. Each of their performances induced cheers and applause from the audience once they finished and bowed.
Orpheus came up onto the stage after Marc left and yelled "Ladies... and gentlegods! You've seen some of our most skilled students perform alone, but now, you'll see some of them pitted against each other!" the Gods roared and cheered, this being the part that always drew the most attention and interest "Our students are trained here every day, and they're some of the most skilled warriors you may ever meet... so are you ready to meet them!?" The crowd cheered "You?" He pointed to Apollo "How about you?" Next he pointed to Persephone "Alright..." He looked back at one of the doors "Now this young fighter needs no introduction, but it is my job, so I'll give him one!" A burst of bifrost flames shot up in front of the door "Said to be untouchable in this camp, our greatest defensive fighter! This young man came out of nowhere and has grown into a powerful warrior." the doors opened and a figure could be seen behind the flames "Give it up... for Nate Dallr!" He walked through the flames without any problem and bowed to the audience before standing next to Orpheus "Now... another Aesir born fighter, but a much different one than Nate." He looked back at the door to the room next to Nate's and the fighter's signature white lightning crackled in front of it like an electric fence "He's only been here for a little less time than Nate, but these two are like an invincible sword and shield! This fighter's absolute strength and power are almost unmatched throughout the camp! His favorite weapon also shows his strength and resilience." The doors weren't even opened yet before Marc jumped through them, shattering them into shards of wood and metal "Uh, o- okay! Everyone welcome Marc Thruson!!" Marc let out a yell and engulfed himself in white lightning as the crowd cheered.
"Damn, man. You really couldn't wait to get out the door, huh?" Nate asked as his taller friend stood next to him.
"You know I'm impatient."
"Well... I think we should go over to our next champion!" he pointed to the next door "One of our fastest warriors, a son of Hermes! He went from being the slowest of all when he got here to running on air before the age of twelve!" Tornados started to rise in front of the door "A fighter who thinks fast on his feet and knows when to make a strategic retreat! His powerful kicks are almost unmatched and his speed in combat is second to one!" Hermes chuckled, knowing he was that one "Everyone, please give it up for..." The door opened and Kenneth ran out of the entrance, up into the air before landing right next to Orpheus "Kenneth Mese!" The crowd cheered and the next door was revealed "And now, for one of our most surprising additions. She went from barely being able to lift a sword to one of the Athenian Warriors' most deployed agents in just five years!" Weapons started to appear in front of the door and Nate sighed when he heard him mention the Athenian Warriors "This fearsome warrior trains harder than most in the camp and trains with the best, some of which are on this stage right now! If everyone would welcome... Beth Ena!!" Walked out of her room and stood calmly next to Kenneth "Our next contender is..." He gave off a few more introductions, but Nate was sending his thoughts into Kenneth and Marc's minds.
'Okay, after the intros, I've got a great idea,' He said into their thoughts.
'Okay, what is it?' Kenneth asked.
'Do we get to blow stuff up?'
'If we do this correctly, no.'
'Wait, what?'
'Oh right, you two can't hear the other's thoughts. Marc asked if we're gonna blow something up.'
'Oh, okay. What was your idea?'
'Kenneth, you run around in the middle of the stage and create a tornado, then Marc and I will throw lightning and Bifrost into it. It'll be a light show even Helheim'll be able to see.'
'Alright.'
'Let's go.'
'Just so you both know, the other also agreed.'
"Alright! Now that you've met our champions-" The three slowly got behind him and Nate nodded to Kenneth "Now that we've gotten everything out of the way-" Kenneth started running in tight circles which caused winds to quickly pick up "I'd say it's time... for..." Orpheus and everyone else looked at the massive, but clearly controlled, tornado that was forming in the ring.
"Now!" Kenneth yelled, though it was nearly impossible to hear him over the winds."
"He said now!" Nate yelled to Marc.
Marc rubbed his palms together and Nate closed his eyes while creating a bifrost flame in his hand. He opened his eyes and looked over at Marc, who held up his electrified palms. They nodded to each other and threw their projectiles into the tornado. Kenneth stopped running and looked up at the purple and blue, electrified tornado. The entire camp was in awe as this was something that was not often seen. Sure, people would show their abilities off individually, but it was hardly that multiple Demigods would put their powers together.
"Uh... well! Okay, then. With this amazing display, I say we get to part one of the Demigod Games!" They all bowed and walked off of the stage to get ready for the next part of the night.
