"Miles!" Clark super speeds inside as I listen in from on top of the barn.
"I don't know what more I can do. I checked three time zones. No sign of Chloe or the creature that took her. That thing that did this...what was it?" Miles wonders.
"Jor-El warned me about an ultimate destroyer...from Krypton. It should have gone after me, not Chloe."
"This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life."
"You should go home. Call Selina, check on Dominic."
"No, I'm gonna go to the Isis Foundation. Chloe has files on just about everything strange and unexplained."
"Let me do it, Miles."
"No."
"Miles-"
"I said no, Clark!" Miles bellows. "Chloe needs us. She needs both of us. I'll call you as soon as I find anything."
"What happened to Brianna?" Clark asks.
"God, you are just like Lana. You just keep pushing, and pushing, and pushing! And I thought you of all people would understand the reason for secret keeping in order to protect the ones you love."
"Miles, someone could be hurting her or threatening her and I can't just stare at her from across the room anymore!"
"Then maybe you should do what she's been telling you to and let her go!"
"You know, don't you? You know what's going on."
"What?"
"After Chloe and Jimmy's engagement party, she said you knew where she was for those past eight months. That you visited her everyday."
"Yeah, I did. I'm her brother. Why wouldn't she tell me where she would be for almost a year?"
"And you let me believe she was-"
"I didn't let you to believe anything, Clark. You're so blinded by your love for her, you're forgetting what she needs instead of what she wants. She does want you, Clark. She wants to be with you, you have no idea. But she doesn't need to be with you right now. She has to work through whatever she's got going on and she'll tell you when she's ready." Miles inquires. "So you need to do what she says and let her go. Stop thinking about what you did wrong. Because all you ever did was right. In my twenty one years of living, I have never seen a man love her like you do, except for your dad, and Jim. You did or said nothing to make her pull away. She's doing this for her, and for you. She's protecting you, Clark. For fuck sake, she has been all these years!"
