Is This Where?: Julie Gribble & Timothy Andrew Edwards
"We have to talk." I open the doors.
"Brianna." Lionel closes his book. "Oh, Brianna." He gets up and walks over to me. "I never got the chance to thank you for what you did. I wanted to stop by at the hospital, but I wanted you to get your rest." He takes my hand in his. "You saved my son yet again. Thank you." He nods. "How are you feeling?" He looks at the bandage around my arm with my t-shirt sleeve covering half of it.
"That depends on your answer to my question." I release my hand from his. "What do you know about Lana?"
"Brianna-"
"Answer the question. I don't repeat myself. Unless they're hard of hearing or a toddler."
"And you're accusing me of what, exactly, this time?"
"Lana came to Miles the day of the wedding to tell him she wasn't going through with it, that she was leaving Lex."
"Apparently, she changed her mind."
"Or someone changed it for her." I clench my jaw.
"So, you think I had something to do with her decision?" Lionel gets up from the couch.
"If Lana was so unhappy with Lex, why go through with the marriage?"
"It's surprising, Brianna, what people will do when they, uh, feel they have no other options. I would assume you'd understand that better than anybody."
"If I find out that you had anything to do with Lana marrying Lex, I'll make that coma you were in sound like a safe haven. How do you like that option?" I walk past him and leave.

"You okay?" I ask Chloe as we sit at the counter in the diner.
"Fine." Chloe replies with her fist against her cheek.
"Yeah, you definitely look it." I nod.
"How's your shoulder?"
"Fine."
"Triple espresso mocha cappu-latte—my own invention, guaranteed to put the zip-a-dee back in your doo-dah." Lois hands Chloe a drink before sitting down.
"Thanks." Chloe grimaces.
"C'mon. It's not that bad. Jimmy is coming back one day...maybe."
"Oh, that's a good pep talk." I nod before looking back at the file Bruce gave me.
