Gotham's Got A Problem: HalaCG, Kiwi
"What are you doing?" Oliver and Margo quickly pull the two hundred pound weight from my hands.
"I was working out." I sit up. "I had that weight in my hand that you just took. Remember?
"Yeah, we also remember you had a heart attack." Margo tells me.
"Well, Lee and Doctor Alvin said it was okay if I did some light activity."
"Two hundred pounds weights is light activity?"
"For someone who was bitten by a radioactive spider and can shoot electrical webs and climb walls, yeah, it's pretty light." I nod.
"What are you doing?" Jim enters our apartment with a bag. "What is she doing?"
"She was lifting a two hundred pound weight. But we came in and saved her." Oliver mocks a grin at me.
"You wish." I get up.
"Thank you." Jim tells them. "No weight lifting of any kind."
"Jim, I'm fine." I grab a water bottle from the fridge.
"Tell that to the scar down your chest."
"I'm fine." I look down at my chest.
"Appreciate the sarcasm." Jim nods.
"Glad someone finally does."
"Just dropped Dom off at pre school. Your mom's at work and I'm on my way too. Just wanted to bring you breakfast." He sets the bag down. "It's from Alfred. Made you something special."
"I'll eat in the car." I sip some water.
"Where are you going?"
"To work."
"What?" The three of them say.
"You don't know what work is?" I question. "It's an activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result. Also could be a task or tasks to be undertaken; something a person or thing has to do."
"I know what work is." Jim nods. "And I am forbidding it."
"It's been two weeks since my surgery, Jim. And I heal faster than most people." I raise my eyebrows. "And besides, I know Harvey taking over my spot as captain is giving him really big stomach aches." I start to walk.
"Brianna." He places his hands on my shoulders.
"I'm not mad about what happened to Mario. He was infected with the virus and he almost killed my mom. You did what you had to do. And we both know why Falcone called off the hit on you. Because he knew as soon as I got up from that hospital bed, he would have to face me. You're not guilty of anything, Jim. And my mom will see that too, just give her time." I nod and turn.
