capture the flag

On the day of capture the flag, tension was running high. At breakfast, all the tables were talking amongst themselves, whispering and casting glances as if to catch others listening in. Lee was particularly invested in this game, as he had been personally promised by the Athena cabin that he would get first dibs on picking when to go the showers, something the Apollo cabin had never been given the honor. Michael stabbed his eggs forcefully, chewing lazily.

"You think that Percy boy will be of any help? I heard he disarmed Luke a couple days ago."

Lee looked up from his detailed calendar, he was serious on picking the best time for the cabin. "Don't know. Maybe. Anyone who can do that the first time they hold a sword has gotta be good."

He muttered something to himself, and crossed off times with a shake of his head.

"It's his first game. I doubt they would want him to do much," Kiwáni stated. She then turned to Michael, a mischievous look on her face. "You remember your first game Mikey?"

"No," he grumbled sarcastically. Michael Yew's first game had gone notoriously bad. He had been knocked out by a crazed sword swing of a child of Hephaestus in the first five minutes. He spent the next day in the infirmary, and the week after complaining about it.

"Exactly. I'm sure he'll be doing border patrol or something. Something on the easier side."

It was after lunch when the Apollo children found out their "jobs" for the capture the flag game. As the people who were most skilled with ranged weapons, they were supposed to act as snipers in the woods, shooting unsuspecting campers on the red team. Michael jumped at the chance to shoot someone from a tree, and laced up his armor quickly. Lee shot after him, and gave his sister an apologetic glance.
