Kiwáni's first ghost summoning ceremony

The sun was setting and there was no sign of Percy Jackson. All Kiwáni could see from her vantage point was the bright pinks and oranges in the sky, but she could feel it within. They were running out of time. Percy was running out of time.

Once the group had reached the ranch house, they were immediately tied up and gagged. If it had happened at any other moment, Kiwáni might have found it funny to be so comically restrained. She could almost picture herself dramatically tied to a railroad track as she desperately fumbled to get away from the coming train.

But as Eurytion had stuffed a particularly dirty rag into her mouth, she decided she did not like to be hog-tied.

The smell of barbecue wafted through the air as Geryon grilled outside. It smelled divine, which made the daughter of Apollo all the more angry. The sacred cows of Helios were being raised for slaughter, for meat. The vein in her temple throbbed harshly as the god within her head raged silently.

He's failed. He's failed or he's left us here.

Just as the pink and oranges began to fade from the sky, a figure burst through the ranch doors.

"Let them go!" Percy yelled, his breath slightly erratic. "I cleaned the stables!"

His eyes flicked around wildly, and hardened once they landed on the tied up daughter of Apollo.

Geryon turned, tapping his metal spatula onto the grill. "Did you, now? How'd you manage it?"

"Let my friends go," Percy insisted, clearly agitated. "We had a deal."
