the end of the summer

When Kiwáni and her friends rode into camp on the backs of the centaurs, they found that Clarisse had already arrived. The state of the camp was miserable; the arts and crafts cabin had been burned to the ground, and the infirmary/Big House area was overflowing with wounded campers.

Jumping off the back of centaur giving her a ride, the girl watched as Clarisse draped the Fleece over the now brown pine tree. A breeze moved through the air, making everything sway slightly. A moment passed, and then Kiwáni watched as the grass below her became green, and started to rejuvenate.

Cheers echoed through the air, and the daughter of Apollo could not help but smile. Looking to her left, she saw a rather bruised Ethan Nakmura, watching her with a small smile. His smile only grew once the pair made eye contact.

"Glad to see you Sunshine," he grinned.

Kiwáni could not help but laugh, and threw her arms around the boy. Closing her eyes, the daughter of Apollo willed herself to heal the boy with their close contact, and when she pulled away, she saw his skin had returned back to his normal, tanned state.

"You alright?" she asked, her voice louder than normal to be heard over the chatter of the surrounding campers.

"Enough," he replied. He shrugged his shoulders. "I found out who my mother is."

Kiwáni grinned even larger, and her back straightened as she hugged the boy again. "That's great!"

He patted her back, chuckling slightly, and pushed her in the direction of Clarisse, who was shrinking under the loud praise of the other campers, her face bashful and unsure. Kiwáni could not even see the daughter of Ares, as she was surrounded by a horde of people.
