the garden of the HesperidesThe group needed to leave, and fast.
"The Hesperides are the nymphs of the sunset," Zoë explained. "We can only enter their garden as day changes to night."
"What happens if we miss it?" Percy asked.
"Tomorrow is winter solstice. If we miss sunset tonight, we would have to wait until tomorrow evening. And by then, the Olympian Council will be over. We must free Lady Artemis tonight."
Kiwáni let out a shaky breath, and gripped into her necklaces.
"We need a car," Thalia said.
"But what about Bessie?" Percy countered.
Grover stopped in his tracks. "I've got an idea! The Ophiotaurus can appear in different bodies of water, right?"
The son of Poseidon shrugged his shoulders.
"So maybe we could coax him back to Long Island Sound," Grover continued. "Then Chiron could help us get him to Olympus."
"But he was following me," Percy said. "If I'm not there, would he know where he's going?"
"I... I can show him," Grover said.
Kiwáni opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She knew about Grover's aversion to water, especially after being stuck in the Sea of Monsters last summer. He had almost drowned, and had told the daughter of Apollo he would rather mine for coal than ever experience that again. Her heart squeezed in her chest.
"I'm the only one who can talk to him," Grover said, his voice softening. "It makes sense."
"Grove," Kiwáni spoke softly.
