the inescapable prisonThe left tunnel was a straight shot through the Labyrinth, something that Kiwáni could appreciate. That was, until it led to a dead end. Then, as the teens were surrounded by closed walls and a particular unnerving sound of dragging footsteps seemed to be coming towards them, she supposed maybe they should have taken the right. But she pulled out her bow, loaded herself with arrows, and configured herself towards the hallways in which they had just came. She would not go down without a fight.
"Tyson," Percy whispered, the panic in his voice palpable, "can you—"
"Yes!" The Cyclops slammed his shoulder against the rock with an unheard-of amount of force, causing the entire tunnel to shake slightly. Grover whimpered slightly, and tightened his grip on Kiwáni's shoulder.
"Hurry!" the satyr said. "Don't bring the roof down, but hurry!"
Tyson slammed himself into the wall again, and the wall gave way. Without hesitation, the group rushed through the newly created opening, huffing slightly. Diving along the walls of the newly entered room, Kiwáni tried to calm her breath as she listened to the sounds outside, sighing in relief once it wailed to itself and slinked back the way it came.
"What in Hades?"
Annabeth's exclamation brought the daughter of Apollo back into the moment, as she too surveyed the room they were now in. It was seemingly empty, and lit just about as well as the rest of the Labyrinth. The only inclusion was the solid iron bars now in front of them, as well as the outlines of others in the distance.
