rachel elizabeth dareReturning to camp with three less people than you started with was just as depressing as it sounded. The mechanical spider led both demigods back to the Labyrinth entrance near camp, giving them a quick metal click before scampering back off into the dark. The two girls stood there for a moment, not sure what to expect as they emerged.
Annabeth moved first, hoisting herself up from the ground. There was sound of weapons drawing and bows being loaded, and Kiwáni too was pulled from the ground. Her eyes stayed down, the girl not willing herself to look up. The tears that had fallen from had run dry, leaving tracks down her face and a burn in her eye.
"Annabeth!" someone shouted, as the campers pulled down their weapons. "Kiwáni!"
"Where are the others?" Beckendorf asked, helping the daughter of Apollo to her feet. "Where's Percy?"
Kiwáni did not speak, and continued to stare at the ground. Annabeth looked over at the girl and sighed, resigning herself to be the bearer of bad news.
"He's gone," she croaked. "And I don't know where the others are."

└── ⋆⋅ ☀︎ ⋅⋆ ──┘The next days following the failed quest all blurred together. Once Annabeth had briefed Chiron on what had transpired in the Labyrinth, Kiwáni had been free to go back to her own cabin. The girl slowly dragged herself to the building, not having the energy to open up the door. She was lucky, however, as there was someone already waiting to greet her.
