the descent

The daughter of Apollo met the rest of the quest members at Zeus's fist in the morning. Yawning slightly, Kiwáni leaned against the boulders that carved out the entrance to the Labyrinth. She had not gotten much sleep last night. The night before in the Apollo cabin had been a stressful one to say the least.

Lee had gone berserk on the younger girl, shouting about how she always threw herself into danger. Normally, she would have let it go, brushed it off like it was nothing. Kiwáni had always been picked for the quests she'd been on, it had not given her much choice.

But this time she had volunteered herself. And her older brother was furious. Because they both knew she had ulterior motives.

"This is the last time I'll stand for this," Lee warned.

"Whatever! I have to go!"

Lee pulled at his hair, and leaned against his cabin bunk. "You don't... Kiwáni don't you understand? You don't have to do anything!"

The girl's eyes hardened, and she glared in her older brother's direction. "I have to go! You saw what it did, what he did! To his own brother! He could do that to all of us! To you! To Michael! To Will! He's gotta pay!"

Lee huffed, and narrowed his eyes. "And you've got to be the one to give it to him?"

The eldest Apollo children stared at one another, their chests heaving sporadically. After a stare down where neither backed down, the older one closed his eyes, pursing his lips in anger.
