the island of the cyclops

Kiwáni would have thought the island would look
more, dangerous. She has been expecting bones and ship wreckage to be strewn about the rocky shore, but instead she saw some of the most lush and diverse sets of plants she had ever seen. If this was something that the Golden Fleece could do for Camp Half Blood, then she needed to make sure they succeeded.

"If we take it away," Percy asked, as the three made their way onto the sandy beach, "will the island die?"

Annabeth shook her head. "Most likely not. It'll fade. Go back to what it would be normally, whatever that is."

Kiwáni nodded her head, and focused on the task ahead. She peered around the island, and saw a pack of buffalo-sized sheep, all herded around what seemed to be a massive oak tree. The tree was huge, and looked as if it had been around since the dawn of time. She looked closer, and gasped. There was something glittering underneath the branches.

"There, in the tree," she whispered. The other two demigods looked at what the daughter of Apollo had pointed out.

"That's too easy," Percy said. "We could just hike up there and take it?"

Annabeth's eyes narrowed. "There's supposed to be a guardian. A dragon or..."

Her statement was interrupted by the presence of a deer, as it innocently made its way up the hill. Once the deer got close to the tree, the enlarged sheep all rushed the animal, bleating and whining loudly. Once the buffalo-sized sheep moved away from the area, there was only a pile of bones where the deer had once stood.
