[108] Break Up

You were both panting as you held onto the side of the hot tub.
Joao: that was amazing!
You nodded in agreement. Joao reached for some towels and wrapped them around your body, as he wrapped one around his waist. You both hopped out of the hot tub and walked inside towards his bedroom.
You: do you have some clothes I can wear? I can't go home in a wet dress.
Joao: I think so hold on
He looked through his luggage.
Joao: I have this?
He held up some sweats and jersey.
You: that'll work
You grabbed them from him
Joao: can't you stay the night?
You: no, it's going to complicate things with my dad even more.
Joao: I'm sure he'll understand.
You: no, he won't.
Joao: he will if he knows you spent the night with ME
You: I prefer to go home
Joao: I can't let you drive by yourself at this time
You: okay? So drive me home then.
Joao: gosh you're so hard to deal with. Just stay the night. I'll talk to your dad. Okay?
You rolled your eyes
Joao: come on
He grabbed your arms leading you towards the bed
Joao: just rest. I'll talk to him.
You decided it was best to spend the night. Either way it was way too late to go home. You laid down on the bed and Joao joined you. He went on his phone for a while as you stared into the ceiling debating wether you should tell him about breaking up or not.
You: hey so there's something I want to talk to you about. And I think it's time to tell you.
Joao: mmm?
You turned to look at Joao who had already put his phone away and was falling asleep.
You: joao?
Joao: can you tell me tomorrow?
You: oh. Uh yeah.
And with that you both fell asleep.

The next morning you woke up to an empty spot next to you. You wondered where Joao had gone. You got up and heard noise downstairs in the kitchen so you headed towards that direction. You found Joao rummaging through the fridge.
You: hey!
Joao: did I wake you?
You: no not at all
Joao: how'd you sleep?
You: great!
Joao: I'm glad. Sit I'll make breakfast and then we can go out. I need to do a few things before I catch my flight tomorrow.
You: wait what? You're flying back tomorrow?
Joao: yes. I'm sorry, I can't stay longer. The team needs me.
You: it's fine. I understand.
Joao: ill see you soon though right? When are you flying back?
You: I'm not sure yet.
Joao: well I'm sure it's very soon.
You nodded as you took a seat at the island table. 
You: soooo there's something I need to talk to you about.
Joao: oh right. What's up?
You: please PLEASE just listen.
Joao: what's going on?
You: I've been doing some hard thinking and well....I've decided that it's best if we break up.
Joao: what? What are you even saying?
You: We need to break up. I can't do this anymore Joao. It's too much to handle.
Joao: what? What's too much for you to handle?
You: THIS
Joao: I'm not understanding
You: it's always fight after fight and we hardly even see each other. I think the bond isn't there anymore.
Joao: I wonder why!
You: huh?
Joao: it's all Diego's fault! That motherfucker messed with your mind. You're leaving me to go with him. Isn't that right?
You: no of course not! Listen, Diego and I are history. He's expecting a child now. And I think I just need to take a break from dating.
Joao: I don't believe you
You: it's for the best.
Joao: no it's not
You: joao I love you and you know that but I can't keep this up. You deserve someone better
Joao: you're what's best for me!
You: no, im not. I've made my decision. We can't be together anymore.
Joao: you can't be serious right now!
You: im sorry.
Joao covered his face with his hands
Joao: okay. You know what. Sure. We can break up. Im not going to beg for you to stay with me. If you want to leave then leave.
You: Joao I never meant to-
Joao: we're over.
You: joao please you know that-
Joao: end of this conversation.
You both sat there in silence.
You: I should probably leave.
Joao: yeah, you should.
You went upstairs to grab your things and left the house as you called an Uber to pick you up and take you back to the cabin.

When you got back to the cabin it was all quiet. Meaning everyone was gone, which was beneficial to you because you didn't feel like explaining yourself about your whereabout last night. You were walking towards your room when you heard crying coming from Diego's room. You furrowed your brows as you stayed still to hear better. Then there were groans. All of a sudden Diego's door flew open and you saw Stephanie in tears.
Stephanie: y/n!
You: hey? You okay?
She held her stomach and groaned.
Stephanie: I think I need to go to the hospital
You: why what's wrong?
Stephanie: my stomach. It hurts.
You: umm okay let's sit down and I'll call Diego.
Then suddenly her pants bled through with blood and both of your guys's eyes widened.
Stephanie: y/n....
You: let's go!
You quickly grabbed a hold of her and ran outside hoping the Uber was still there. To your luck he was. You opened the car door.
You: it's an emergency. I need you to drive us to the nearest hospital please!
Uber: yes ma'am
You helped Stephanie get inside the Uber.

You paid the Uber and walked in through the emergency doors. They took all her information and immediately took her in.
You: I'll wait out here
Stephanie: no. Please come with me. I'm scared. I don't want to loose my baby.
You: everything's going to be okay. I'll be out here trying to communicate with Diego. Okay?
She nodded and they took her away to a room. Meanwhile you called Diego to inform him of everything that was going on.
Diego: hello?
You: Diego!
Diego: someones happy to talk to me
You: nows not the time. I need you to come to the hospital. Stephanie is bleeding!
Diego: WHAT?
You: Mhm I'm sending you the location
Diego: bleeding? What do you mean bleeding?
You: I think she's having a miscarriage.
Diego: on my way.
He hung up

Minutes later he arrived.
Diego: where is Stephanie?
You: they took her in for examination
Diego went up to the lady in the front desk asking for her
Diego: I'm looking for a patient. Stephanie Garcia. She's the mother of my child.
Hearing those words come out of his mouth made you feel a sense of disappointment.
Lady: room 207
Diego sprint in that way as you followed him. You both walked inside to find Stephanie laying in bed. When he saw her he immediately ran up to her and gave her a kiss.
Diego: what happened? What's going on?
Stephanie: I started having these type of contractions and then I started bleeding. The pain was unbearable. Thank goodness y/n came home and found me. But Diego I'm scared. What if something happens to our baby?
Diego: no no. Think positive. Everything going to be okay. I won't let anything happen to either of you. Okay?
You stood there awkardly.
Stephanie: thank you y/n. If it wasn't for you things would've been so much worse.
You gave her a warm smile before the doctor walked in.
Doctor: Stephanie Garcia?
Stephanie: yes. That's me.
Diego: is the baby okay? Please tell us the baby is fine.
Doctor: after examination it seems like....
