Graciella: she said she got fucked by Felix
Diego's head tilted to the side and he gave you a confused look
Diego: really?
He shook his head walking past you.
Graciella: well hope you had fun last night prima
She walked upstairs following Diego as you walked back into the backyard. You greeted everyone and took a seat next to Joao and your dad.
Dad: are you going to attend the gala Joao?
Joao: yes. I got nominated for the Ballon d'Or this year
Dad: wow, congrats!! That's exciting.
Joao: yeah it truly is
You: how come you didn't tell me?
Joao: I was hoping to keep it a surprise but I guess it's not one anymore
He chuckled
You: when is it?
Joao: this weekend
You: aww so you're gonna leave me again?
Joao: pfft of course not. You're coming with me!
You: WHAT?
Joao: yeah, you're going to be my plus one
Dad: I'll also be attending. Some of my players also got nominated and well, I am the coach after all
You: I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IM GOING TO WEAR
Joao: we should match
You: match?
Joao: yeah. Let's choose a color or something and have our outfits match
You: I like the idea
Joao: what color should we wear?
You: hmmm I don't know
Joao: I'm feeling dark green and gold
You: not bad. I'll see what I can find

You ended up staying the entire week at Joao's house and you had no contact with Diego since he wasn't around. He was too busy at practice or he was hanging out with Graciella. The day before the gala you stayed over at your dad's house because Melanie was attending with chucky and she needed your help getting ready. It was night time, everyone was asleep and you were outside playing with a soccer ball just kicking it back and fourth at the fence since you couldn't sleep.

Diego was in his room trying to sleep but kept hearing the ball hit the fence and couldn't go to sleep. He peeked his head out the window to see who was making all the noise. He saw you and chuckled. He put on his shoes quickly and made his way out of his room. Memo was out in the hall walking towards his own room but stumbled upon Diego.
Memo: where are you going?
Diego: ehhhh afuera?
Memo: con y/n?
Diego: no. Just out.
Memo: ay Diego. Mira ven.
Diego: I gotta go I'm in-
Memo: Que vengas!
He dragged Diego by his arm into his room and told him to sit on the bed
Memo: tell me the truth. You're going out to the backyard with y/n. Right?
Diego nodded
Memo: why?
Diego: I can't sleep. I want to see if she'll allow me to accompany her with game or something
Memo: why?
Diego: why what?
Memo: why do you keep trying to get close to her? You know she's in a relationship.
Diego: so?
Memo: so? What do you mean so? You have to respect her relationship
Diego: since when have I ever respected shit?
Memo chuckled
Memo: true.
Diego: I don't care if she's with Joao. I was here first.
Memo: todavía la quieres verdad?
Diego didn't say anything
Memo: your silence says it all.
Diego smiled
Memo: why don't you try telling her?
Diego: it won't change anything. She's lost all faith in me.
Memo: it's worth a shot, no?
Diego: no. Joao won her fair and square. I was never an option either way.
Memo: I think you should tell her everything you feel. I can tell she feels something for you too
Diego: I doubt it. I mean what am I supposed to say? Oh hey y/n by the way just wanted to let you know that I've been in love with you ever since the moment we first met and every day I find myself falling harder. I know I cheated and am going out with your cousin but I hope you'll give me a chance. No, Memo. It's not that simple.
Memo: well when you put it like that no. But you know, try getting her to see things from your perspective and first and foremost apologize. And for gods sake, stop fucking around with Graciella. She's no good.
Diego: graciella was my plan to get her jealous but it hasn't seemed to be working.
Memo: obviously not.
Diego: I honestly wish I could just confess everything I feel for her but it's so complicated
Memo: I'm sure she'll understand Diego
Diego: I know she's not going to give me another chance. So it's better for me to just carry on with it and hope this feeling goes away. I can't stand seeing her with someone else but if she's happy then I don't want to ruin it and hurt her even more
Memo: how long have you guys been..you know
Diego: fucking?
Memo: mhm
Diego: ufff since she got here but we stopped. Since you know, she's with Joao now. But I swear when we made love it was like I was in a whole new- Wait. How do you know about that?
Memo: I saw you guys going into each others room several times
Diego: ACTUALLY?
Memo: yeah
Diego: you think someone else knows?
Memo: no, I doubt it. You guys were pretty good at sneaking past us
Diego chuckled
Memo: go outside with her and be POLITE. If she doesn't want your company then leave and if she does, try and talk to her about how you feel
Diego: you really think she feels something for me?
Memo: I'm positive Diego.
Diego: then why did she get with Joao?
Memo: maybe she wanted to be loved by someone who values her
Diego: I value her
Memo: did you demonstrate that to her?
Diego: ....no
Memo: ahí está. You got a 50/50 chance right now. She'll either want to talk with you or not. If she doesn't then respect her space and come back inside and we'll talk it out. Okay?
Diego nodded and walked out of Memo's room
Memo: those 2 are meant for each other. I know they'll be together one day. This is just a little bump on the road for them.

Diego took a deep breath before opening the sliding door and closing it behind him. You glanced over at the door and saw Diego. You took a deep breath and focused back on the ball. Diego made his way over to you.
Diego: hey
You: que quieres?
Diego: nada. Just wanted to see what you were up to
You pointed to the ball, raising your brows
Diego: why are you up so late?
You shrugged
Diego: mind if I stay here with you for a bit?
You: don't you have Graciella to go bother
Diego didn't say anything
You: why don't you go back to sleep? I'd rather be alone than have bad company
Diego: I would but you see I can't
You: and why's that?
Diego: because you're kicking that damn ball so fucking loud and I can't sleep
You laughed
You: I'm so sorry Mr. Lainez. I forgot you need your beauty sleep. I'll try and be more quiet
You kicked the ball even harder making a louder noise
Diego: ha ha you got the whole squad laughing
He said sarcastically
You: ya enserio vete
Diego: y si no?
He gave you that same sly smirk he gave you all the time
You: I'm not going to argue with you
Diego kicked the ball away from your grip and placed his foot on top of it
You: give it back
Diego: come take it
You: Diego I'm not in the mood. Give it.
Diego: take it from me
You: no
You started making your way back inside
Diego: no que eras muy ruda?
You turned around to face him
You: vamos pues
Diego: first one to make it all the way to the other side with the ball wins. Deal?
You: AND the other person owes the winner hmmm let's say $50?
Diego: make it $100
You: no $200
Diego: sale
You both shook hands and Diego threw the ball in the air. You guys kept trying to make it to the other side of the fence with the ball but failed because the other would take it away before either of you could make it.
You: just let me win Diego
Diego: ni lo sueñes
Both of you were drenched in sweat
Diego: Dale
You threw the ball in the air and as soon as it reached the ground Diego took control and ran with it towards the other side. You were having trouble keeping up because of how tired you were. You had the brilliant idea of tripping him so that you could have an advantage and win. You sped up and placed your foot right in front of his. The ball slipped away and he tripped. As he was tripping he reached for ANYTHING trying to hold himself from falling. His hand reached for your shirt causing you to fall backwards with him. You fell on top of him but quickly sat up. You held your self up with your hands on his chest.
Diego: WHAT THE-
Diego realized you were sitting on top of him as he laid on the ground
You: WHY WOULD YOU PULL ME BACK!
Diego: YOU TRIPPED ME!
You: SO?
Diego and you were breathing heavily trying to catch your breath. The image of Diego in front of you was mesmerizing. He was breathing heavily and was all sweaty. Nothing was said between you guys. Diego placed a strand of your hair behind your ear.
Diego: y/n
You: yeah?
Diego: yo-
You: you what?
Diego: te amo. Yo te amo y/n. Siempre te he amado.
You felt your heart drop hearing those words coming from his mouth. Diego leaned in slowly as you stayed still. You were about to let him kiss you but you moved. You hopped off of his lap and Diego sat up.
You: Diego I can't.
Diego: y/n I'm sorry. I shouldn't have tried to kiss you it wasn't r-
You: it's fine. I think imma head inside now
Diego: no wait-
You made your way inside and shut the door behind you.
