Everyone got up and started congratulating Diego and Stephanie.
Edson: cuanto tienes de embarazo?
Stephanie: I'm not sure but definitely a couple months
Your eyes widened
How could she be months pregnant if Diego and you had been "together" for months??
Joao pat your shoulders signaling you to follow him and go congratulate them. You did it in order to not make it seem suspicious or like this was bothering you. You walked up to Stephanie giving her a small hug.
You: congrats.
Stephanie: thank you so much.
You were about to walk away but she held you by your arm and pulled you back.
Stephanie: can I talk to you later?
You: about?
Stephanie: Diego
You looked around to make sure no one was listening
You: I don't think there's anything to talk about
Stephanie: please?
You: I prefer not to
You turned around and walked towards Diego. You both stared into each others eyes being able to feel the tension.
You: um congrats.
Diego: thanks y/n.
He pulled you in for a hug embracing you tightly knowing it was probably going to be the last time he ever got to do this. You pulled away looking at him with teary eyes. You went back to sit down next to Joao hiding your face
Joao: you okay?
You nodded and put on a fake smile. He knew something was wrong but he didn't want to call any attention so he planned to ask you about it later. Everyone spent the rest of the night celebrating the pregnancy news.
Alexis: y ustedes para cuando Joao y y/n?
Joao chuckled
Joao: it's not up to me. It's up to y/n. It's her body so whenever she feels ready, I'll be ready.
He gave you a side hug.
You: definitely not right now.
Stephanie came over and joined in on the convo
Stephanie: why not?? You're at a great age.
You: well I have an ACTUAL career that I'm pursuing which takes time and dedication
You said throwing a bit of shade at her
Stephanie: oh come on. You can still model while being pregnant. In fact you get paid more for pregnancy modeling.
You: it's not about the money Stephanie.
Stephanie: right. Because it's about not ruining your perfect little body. Ms Victoria secret cant ruin her diet huh?
Joao: alright that's enough.
He said trying to stop the argument before it got heated
You bit the inside of your cheek trying to contain yourself from going far with this
Joao whispered to you: hey don't listen to her
You ignored him and chuckled
You: I don't expect someone like you to understand my reasons Stephanie. You're not at my level so dont act like you know what you're talking about. Stick to hoeing around it's what your best at.
She gasped and everyone got quiet as tension rose and you glared at Stephanie. Your dad cleared his throat changing the subject
Dad: but soon right y/n? I want to be filled with grandchildren.
Stephanie left angrily going over to Diego
You: yes soon dad
Kevin: pero no se vayan a tardar mucho eh. Ya quiero ser padrino.
You: oiloooo!! What about you and Brianna? Para cuando el bebé?
Kevin scratched the back of his head
Kevin: yeahhh she's been talking a lot about having a baby but I don't know. I think it's too soon. I'm in my prime time.

You rolled your eyes at him

After a while it got pretty boring and you were starting to get tired.
You: if you'll excuse me I think I'm gonna go lay down now. It's getting late.
Joao: want me to go with you?
You: no no it's fine.
Joao: I'll be there in a few
You nodded and headed over to the room to lay down in bed on the phone. You decided to call Brianna to update her on everything going on but she texted saying she was busy. You put the phone down and just let it be you and your thoughts. A couple minutes later you felt the room door open and Joao walk inside. He undid his side of the bed and joined you. He wrapped his arms around your waist as you turned around to face him.
Joao: hey? I thought you were asleep.
You: nope. I can't sleep.
Joao: how come?
You: I don't know. I was tired when we were all together? But not no more.
He laughed and kissed your forehead
Joao: just try to sleep. I'll stay awake until you fall asleep.
You nodded and cuddled up next to him.

You had finally fallen asleep when you received a text message. You ignored it but your phone kept vibrating with message after message that it ended up waking joao as well. You guys pulled apart as you grabbed your phone. And groaned seeing it was Diego.

Diego
I really need to talk to you.
Are you asleep?

Is joao asleep? You can sneak out.

You furrowed your brows
You: what the fuck?
Joao stretched and yawned
Joao: what's wrong?
You: nothing
Joao: who's texting?
You: no one important
Joao knew that by the sound of your voice you were lying.
Joao: y/nnnnn
You: no one I'm serious
He snatched your phone
You: NO JOAO HOLD ON!
He skimmed through the texts
Joao: so it's Diego texting huh?
You: joao it's nothing. I'm not going to respond. He's just texting me to-
Joao handed you back your phone as you kept trying to reason for yourself
Joao: hey hey. It's okay. Go.
You: and it's not- what?
Joao: go talk to him
You: no
Joao: why not? I think he owes you an explanation no?
You: no
Joao: y/n. I understand you guys had something at one point. Go see what he has to get off his chest.
You nodded accepting the fact that you wanted to see what he had to say. Joao trusted you and wanted what's best for you. He didn't want you living with the doubt of why Diego had a kid with Stephanie and not you. You texted back asking him where to meet and he responded saying outside.
You: I'll be right back
Joao: okay
You gave him a quick kiss before putting on a jacket and some boots. You tiptoed out the house and through the front door. Diego was leaning against the front porch.
Diego: hey!
You: hey
Diego: how are you? Feel like I haven't talked to you in a while-
You: cut the bullshit and just get to the point
Diego: I want to apologize.
You scoffed
You: apologize? For what? Because you have MANY things to apologize for
Diego: I know
You: an apology is not enough Diego. It's not going to heal.
Diego: I understand and trust me. I know I hurt you but it was never my intention to.
You: oh! You don't say.
Diego: I'm being honest. It wasn't my intention. I was being 100% real with you when I said I want to spend the rest of my life with you and that you're the only woman I have eyes for.
You: if that's true then please help me understand what's going on. Why is Stephanie pregnant??
You felt your eyes starting to get watery
You: why was it possible for you to have a kid with her but not with me? What does she have that I dont. Huh?
Diego: it's the opposite. She has everything you don't.
You: yet she's the one carrying your child.
Diego: it was an accident
You: accident? I don't think that's an accident. How do you accidentally get that bitch pregnant. You weren't even seeing her anymore.
Diego: not necessarily
You: what?
Diego sighed
Diego: she was living with me the entire time you and me were together
You: WHAT
Diego: but hey listen it not like that at all. It's because of her eating disorder. She got really bad to the point she was going to end up hospitalized. And she doesn't have any family here so I had to be there for her.
You stayed quiet
Diego: I couldn't just leave her alone
You: wait. So this means....you fucked her while we were together????
Diego: But it was an accident y/n. We never meant to.
You put your hands on your head gently pulling at your hair in frustration.
Diego: It was the night you and I had a small argument and I just had to release my anger and things lead to another and well...
You didn't know what to say
You: I'm done. I can't hear this anymore.
He grabbed you tightly.
Diego: please forgive me y/n. I'm not planning to marry Stephanie. I will take care of my child and own up to my responsibilities but I will NOT stay with Stephanie because I love you.
You: it's too late for anything to happen between us. I think it's time you and I go our separate ways for good this time. I will no longer stay with you while you decide to play around in front of my face. This is getting toxic. You and I are toxic together and I'm done putting up with your shit. It's always something.
Diego: y/n please
You: no Diego I'm over it. I keep getting hurt and I don't know how much more I can take.
He leaned in kissing you to which you immediately pulled away and slapped him.
You: listen to my words when I say I hate you. I really do hate you for everything.
He held your hands.
Diego: no. You don't mean that.
You: I do.
You pushed him away and opened the door walking back inside
Diego: I lost her
He fell to his knees and ran his hands through his hair.
