[101] Where is Joao?

You held back tears as you made your way back into your room. You stopped before walking in making sure to compose yourself and act like nothing had happened. You opened the door and walked in taking off your boots and jacket.
Joao: so?
You: so what?
You said as you laid back down
Joao: what did he want?
You: same old.
Joao: meaning??
You: He just wanted to apologize
Joao: apologize? For what?
You: you know just things
Joao: mmmm
You: I don't want to talk about it
Joao: but are you okay?
You: yeah, I think
Joao kissed your forehead before you laid back down as he sat there contemplating everything.

Joao's POV:
I know she's lying. She's not okay. She wants to cry but won't because I'm here. Maybe it was wrong of me to come. She could've spent the trip with him rather than me. He's the one she wants not me, even if he keeps hurting her. I've gotta let her go so she can be happy even if it means putting aside my happiness. But I can't help seeing her get hurt every time she's with him. And I can't help myself to fall in love with her even more each day that goes by. But for her, I'll do anything.

He caressed your cheek as you slept.

Next day

You woke up and noticed Joao wasn't in bed with you which was confusing. Where could he be? You laid in bed either way not wanting to get up and start the day. Suddenly the bathroom door opened wide and Joao walked out soaking wet coming fresh out of the shower with only a towel around his waist. The water dripped down every inch of his body. You were mesmerized by the view of his abs and veiny arms being exposed. He grabbed some clothes from his luggage and went towards the bathroom partially shutting the door. You stared at him through the little space he left open of the door watching him get ready. His hands moved towards his towel undoing it. You gasped lightly and put the blanket over your eyes. You felt it was wrong to look at him completely naked when he wasn't aware but yet you were tempted to watch. You peeked through the blanket but he had already slipped on a pair of boxers. He finished getting ready putting on some jeans and a hoodie pairing it with some boots and a puffer vest. He then did his hair, sprayed his cologne and walked out of the room. You wondered why he was getting ready so early and why he didn't even bother to let you know. Regardless of wether you were sleeping or not. You eventually got up and did the bed. You walked out to find the house mostly empty, only a few guys were around but not Joao. You made yourself a coffee and sat down at the island table scrolling through social media. You turned to see Diego and Stephanie walking towards the door hand in hand.
Edson: a donde van?
Stephanie: we're going baby shopping!!
They continued the convo as you rolled your eyes and walked back to your room ignoring them. You called Joao but no answer. So you peeked into Kevin's room hoping to find him. He was laying down on his phone bored out of his mind.
You: Kev?
He shut his phone off.
Kevin: hey y/n? What's up?
You: can I come in?
Kevin: yeah yeah of course
You walked inside throwing yourself on his couch.
Kevin: you okay? What's wrong?
You: everything.
Kevin: everything as in what?
You: well first of all Diego.
Kevin: uh oh. Now what happened with him?
You: well you know how everything was going good between us and I was happy for once?
Kevin: Mhm
You: I should've known it wouldn't last
Kevin: what do you mean?
You: you know I've always wanted to form a family of my own. To have children and grow old together with a partner. And I thought Diego was the perfect one for this dream of mine. But clearly he wasn't on the same track as me.
Kevin: yeah because he'd rather fuck a girl one night and another on another night
You glared at him
Kevin: sorry uh continue
You: whatever so anyways we had this big argument and to sum it all up for you he said that having kids isn't on his life plans and that having a kid will only ruin his career. Soccer was more important than me and the possibility of having a baby. He told me he didn't want time off of soccer and that he didn't want kids at all. And then a day later I find out he's expecting a kid with Stephanie . And not only that they had been fucking behind my back. And now he's sorry for everything and wants to be with me and not Stephanie but still take care of his kid.
Kevin: I mean what did you expect? It's Diego. Obviously he doesn't want kids. What does Joao think about all this?
You: I thought we both wanted the same thing but I guess not. And Joao doesn't exactly know everything. Just that me and Diego had something going on.
Kevin: was he mad?
You: no not at all. He completely understands what I'm going through which is what I love about him. He doesn't get mad like Diego and he actually communicates.
Kevin: so it's over with Diego?
You: oh yeah definitely. I'm not embarrassing myself to the point of staying with him while he has another bitch pregnant. That would be one of the lowest extremes I'd ever go to.
Kevin: shit y/n I don't know what to tell you. I mean you have Joao who has never failed to demonstrate his love for you. And he wants kids. You heard him last night. So what's wrong? What are you missing?
You: nothing. I'm perfectly fine with Joao it's just the fact that I don't understand why.
Kevin: why what?
You: why Diego had a kid with her and not me. What does she have that I don't?
Kevin frowned and held your shoulders
Kevin: maybe it wasn't intentional? He most likely didn't pull out. You know Diego. He fucks almost literally anything that moves. I don't think he's processed everything that's about to happen.
You: okay first of all ew and second of all he could've let me know. But still!
Kevin: you just gotta forget about him he's not worth the time. Besides it's not like you're gonna see him around anymore.
You: yeah you're right. I'm leaving back to France as soon as we get back to MX
Kevin: yeah and he's probably gonna move out with Stephanie
You: yeah I guess
Kevin: it's gonna be okay I promise
You: I really wanted it to be him though
Kevin: I know but sometimes things happen for a reason. There must be a reason why these things are happening to you. Maybe it's because there are better things coming your way.
You: I hope
Kevin: I know so!
You smiled at him and gave him a hug
You: alright enough about that, have you seen Joao?
Kevin: nope. I've been in here all day.
You: huh that's weird
Kevin: what is?
You: well he left early this morning and didn't say anything about where he was going
Kevin: maybe he went out for food or something. Or you know what. He's probably gonna surprise you. He's really good at that and he does it all the time.
You: you're right. He'll be back soon.

That night

You didn't go anywhere or do anything all day. You just stayed at the cabin and mostly made work phone calls and arranged your event calendar. You had been promoted to many sponsorships and been invited to so many events. Some of them with Joao. You couldn't wait to tell him but he hadn't been there all day. It was almost 10pm and no sign of him. You started to get very worried thinking maybe something happened to him. Which you really hoped not but couldn't help and think negative. He never disappears like this. You tried calling him over and over again but no answer. His phone was on because the call would ring and wouldn't automatically send you to voicemail but he wouldn't pick up. You went to go look for your dad to see if he knew anything. You found him outside.
You: hey pa
Dad: hey mija
You: what you up to?
Dad: nothing much. Im just going to set up this fire to make s'mores. You?
You:  I just got done arranging my events calendar but I wanted to ask if you knew where Joao was.
Dad: no. I thought he was with you?
You: no. He left really early this morning with no explanation and hasnt come back and I'm worried.
Dad: have you tried calling him?
You: yes multiple times.
Dad: hmm maybe you have bad service? Aver call him from my phone
You did as he said and handed him his phone. It rang and Joao finally picked up.
Dad: hey, where are you? We're worried. Y/n said you left with no explanation.
He nodded as you stood there wondering what he was saying.
Dad: what? Why?
You shrugged your shoulders for your dad to explain what was going on
Dad: are you sure? We can send an Uber or I can go pick you up.
You furrowed your brows.
Dad: alright. I'll let her know. Take care.
He hung up
You: what happened? Is he okay? What did he say?
Dad: he said he had important business to take care of and that he won't be sleeping here tonight. He's too far from the cabin so he said he's crashing at a nearby hotel and will be back tomorrow. And to let you know.
You: what? That makes no sense.
Dad: he sounded pretty upset. You guys okay?
You: yeah why wouldn't we? But why didn't he pick up my calls?
Dad: I don't know he didn't say anything about missing calls from you.
Diego was hearing everything from across the room wondering why Joao had left you alone the entire day.
