[109] He needs you

Diego held onto Stephanie's hand tightly.
Doctor: you have unfortunately had a miscarriage. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll leave you alone to have a moment.
Stephanie immediately started bawling her eyes out as Diego embraced her in a hug. You felt that it was wrong of you to be in the room so you too stepped out. There was no point in you staying so you decided to go back to the cabin. You walked inside to be met with your dad. He was in a bad mood.
Dad: y tu? Donde has estado? Porque saliste?
You: dad it's-
Dad: you're grounded remember? What part did you not understand? I can't keep treating you like a child but you act like one. Everything I tell you goes in one ear and out the other.
You: DAD! I TOOK STEPHANIE TO THE HOSPITAL. OKAY!?
Your dad paused and looked at you with a worried face.
Dad: what? Why? Que paso?
You: she had a miscarriage
Dad: what? Ay no. Pobrecita. Does Diego know?
You: yes. He's with her right now.
Dad: how did this happen?
You: I found her crying and then she came to me in pain and started bleeding out of nowhere. So I took her to the hospital.
Dad: ay no. My condolences go out to them.
You nodded
Dad: bueno pues, I guess you aren't grounded since you left to help Stephanie. Have you talked to Joao?
You: yeah and I need you to respect my decisions. Okay?
Dad: what do you mean?
You: I broke up with him
Dad: YOU DID WHAT?
You: it was for the best. I'm done with relationships and all this bullshit.
Dad: why!! Joao is a good man. He's done nothing but love you and you threw all that away!
You: just stop please. What's done is done. I'm not getting back with him and it's over.
Dad: you did this for what? To get back with Diego?
You: what? No. Look I'm not wanting to get with anyone. I'm just going to focus on my career and let things be.
Dad: mmmm no te creo
You: you don't have too.
Your dad sighed
Dad: whatever. It's your life at the end of the day. We're leaving tomorrow so start packing.
You nodded and walked away going to your room. You spent the rest of the day packing.

The next day everyone was up early ready to catch the flight. They were preparing last minute things. Brianna, Kevin and you were sitting down eating breakfast when Diego and Stephanie walked through the door. Everyone went silent and stared at them. Your dad had let everyone know what had happened so they could be considerate. Diego gave everyone a small smile as he walked away with Stephanie going towards the room. Your dad followed them to let them know to start packing.
Kevin: y estos que? Porque traen esa cara?
You: you don't know?
Kevin: know what?
You: Stephanie had a miscarriage
Brianna gasped
Brianna: oh my god! Are you serious?
You nodded
Kevin: oh.
You: yeah, I thought you guys knew
Kevin and Brianna shook their heads no
You: mmm well now you know
Brianna: I can't even imagine what they're going through. That's so sad.
Kevin: you should go talk to Diego y/n
You: for what?
Kevin: to say your condolences and be there by his side. He's going to need you after this.
You: absolutely not. He has Stephanie.
Kevin: well technically he was staying with Stephanie because of the baby but you knowwww so you kinda have a clear path now
You: are you out of your mind!? Of course not! I'm not doing that shit. Whatever me and Diego had is over now. For good. I'm better off alone and away from him. I'm not using this tragedy to pull some shit like that.
Kevin: I say it's worth a try
Brianna: ay ya kevin! Callate. Who would even do that? Let's talk about something else. What happened with Joao?
You rolled your eyes at her question
Brianna: I'm guessing but your reaction things didn't go very well
You: nope. I broke up with him and he thinks I did it to get with Diego. And then on top of that my dad thinks that too.
Brianna: and how do you feel?
You guys talked for a while before your dad said it was time. You all hopped into cars and drove towards the airport. Everyone boarded the plane and went back to MX.

Once landed everyone went their own separate ways. Kevin, Brianna, Diego, Stephanie, your dad and you were the only ones going back to the mansion. You all rode in the same car, very awkwardly. You each brought down your luggage and went to your rooms to unpack. Except for you. You were leaving in 1 day so there wasn't really a point in unpacking. The rest of the day was pretty boring, you spent it resting in your room.

The next day you wanted to hang out with everyone one last time but no one had time. The team had practice and Kevin had asked your dad for permission to take the day off to be with Brianna, to which he agreed. You were all alone. Stephanie was staying at your house while she got better. She had fallen into a very bad state after loosing the baby, and needed Diego's assistance. You did some last minute shopping and returned late at night. As you were walking upstairs towards your room you bumped into Stephanie who was going downstairs to get a water. You both made eye contact giving each other a small smile. You hadn't said a single word to her since the day she lost the baby. So you thought it was finally time to speak up and set aside your differences at least for this one time.
You: hey, Stephanie! How are you doing?
She turned around
Stephanie: not so great. But doing better day by day.
You: I'm so so sorry about your baby from the sincerest part of my heart.
Stephanie: thank you. Means a lot.
You: I can't even imagine what you're going through.
Stephanie: it's unexplainable
Her eyes started tearing up
You: hey hey. Don't cry. It's all going to be okay. Everything's going to get better!
Stephanie: I hope so. Because I can't deal with this pain anymore. Just thinking about my baby brings me down.
You: I promise everything is going to get better. And Diego is not leaving you alone. He will be there for you.
You placed your hand on her shoulder
Stephanie: no. I'm actually leaving your house tomorrow. So I'll be away from him.
You: oh? No no. You can stay for as long as you'd like. You need Diego and I'm sure he needs you too. To get through this together.
Stephanie: Diego needs YOU. Not me. Which is why I want you to know that I won't get in your way anymore. I want what's best for Diego. He never really felt anything for me anyway, like he did with you. I know he was only staying with me because of the baby. But now that things have happened, you two can finally be together.
You: no. I'm not getting back with Diego.
Stephanie: please. You guys are each others soulmates. I know that now. And I wish you guys nothing but the best.
You shook your head no.
You: you need him more than I do.
Stephanie: but does he need me, like I do? No. He needs your company. Diego too is depressed after all of this. He's trying to act tough but I know he's broken deep down. Please talk to him at least. I know that'll make him feel better. He needs you y/n.
You: that's not my place anymore
Stephanie: please?
She took your hands in hers
Stephanie: be with Diego and make him happy.
And with that she walked away as you walked towards your room. So many thoughts lingered your mind. You walked inside your room, placing your bags down when you spotted Diego laying on your bed.
