Diego was on his way back to mx from a vacation he took with his brother's family. Due to Diego's career he couldn't stay long so he came back before everyone else. Your dad was the only one available to pick him up from the airport which made Diego nervous. Him and your dad hadn't fully recovered from everything and things were still tense from the fight involving Joao.  They weren't as close as they were before.

Diego exit the airport and searched for your dad. Your dad spotted him before he did and approached him.
Dad: Diego!
Diego turned around and greeted him before they both loaded everything into the truck and drove off.
Dad: cómo te fue en el viaje?
Diego: bien.
Dad: cómo te la pasaste?
Diego: mmm bien
Your dad sighed knowing Diego was being dry and nonchalant
Dad: Diego deja te digo algo. Mira yo se que pasaron muchas cosas entre tú y y/n y créeme que te entiendo. Pero su relación causó muchos problemas y siempre lo ha hecho. Es por el bien de los dos. No pueden estar juntos. Yo se que la amas pero si de VERDAD la amas, déjala ir. Yo no quiero que sigamos tensos. Así que pon de tu parte para que nos llevemos bien no?
Diego: No. no me entiendes. Yo AMO a y/n con todo mi ser. Sin ella mi vida no tiene sentido. Y nunca voy a dejar que alguien como TÚ nos separe otra vez.
Dad: pero ella ya no te ama. No te ha buscado ni hablado en meses. Porque ya no le importas. Y vamos a ser sinceros. Es porque de seguro anda con otro que si la sabe valorar.
Diego clenched his jaw knowing your dad was probably right.
Diego: dudo que y/n me pueda remplazar
Your dad rolled his eyes
Dad: Diego all I want is for us to get along. You're part of my team and I want us to have a good connection with each other
Diego: yeah well you're not going to have to worry about me anymore.
Dad: what?
Diego: I'm going to Spain
Dad: Spain? What? Why?
Diego: yeah a Spanish league is willing to pay 6M for me. And honestly I think it's a great opportunity to get away from here.
Your dad scoffed
Dad: you're crazy if you think I'm going to let you, one of my best players go play for a Spanish team. WE need you.
Diego: yeah well it's not up to you. I get to decide for myself.
Dad: absolutely not, Diego this is-
Your dad was too busy looking at Diego that he didn't realize he was starting to drive off his lane and onto oncoming traffic.
Diego: RAUL! CUIDADO.
The truck was impacted by several cars.

You were sitting at home watching a movie with Brianna when all of a sudden you felt a sharp pain in your chest. You groaned.
Brianna: y/n? What's wrong?
You placed a hand on your chest
You: I don't know I just got this pain in my chest. But I'm fine don't worry.

Diego's POV

I woke up with my body aching and my head spinning like crazy. I had no idea where I was or what happened. I looked around and found myself in a hospital room. My parents were asleep on a couch across from me. I had all sorts of stuff connected to me. I spotted my phone on a desk beside me. As I tried reaching for it my mom woke up.
Mom: DIEGO! MI VIDA!
She immediately got up to hug me and I immediately groaned in pain and held my rib cage tightly
Mom: perdon perdon!
Diego: esta bien no te preocupes
By this time my dad woke up as well. They were so worried about me and I had no clue why.
Diego: que me paso?
Mom: tuviste un accidente
Diego: que?
Mom: Raúl estaba manejando y perdió control de la camioneta.
Everything came back to me and I remembered Raul driving onto oncoming traffic.
Diego: y el cómo está?
Dad: mal. Muy mal. Está en condicion critica
My mom held my hand tightly
Mom: Los médicos no están seguros de que sobreviva
Diego: QUE? NO. NO PUEDE SER!
Dad: están haciendo todo lo que pueden
Mom: que bueno que no tuviste golpes graves. Te recuperarás rápido.
Diego: ya está enterada y/n??
Mom: no sabemos
Just then a nurse walked into the room
Nurse: hello, I'm just here to check your vitals. And ask a few questions. May I please have you both step out for a moment?
My parents nodded and exited the room. The nurse began asking me questions about the accident but I hardly remembered anything.
Nurse: okay Diego I need you to focus and try to remember something. Anything.
How could I focus during times like these? Raul was in critical condition and y/n probably had no idea about this. I had to let her know.
Diego: I can't
Nurse: give it a shot
Diego: not right now. My head is pounding.
She sighed
Nurse: I'll bring some medication for you
And with that she left and my parents came back inside the room
Mom: que te dijo?
I completely ignored her and grabbed my phone to call y/n
Dad: a quien le vas a marcar?
Diego: a y/n

You and Brianna had fallen asleep on the couch during the movie. The sound of your phone vibrating woke both of you up. You rubbed your eyes as you picked up the phone and read "Diego"
Brianna: who is it?
You scoffed and showed her
Brianna: pick up!!
You: hell no
You put your phone away and got comfortable to go back to sleep.
Brianna: you should call him back
You ignored her and shut your eyes.

Diego: No contesta!
Mom: de seguro está dormida.

Your phone kept vibrating with calls from him. You groaned in annoyance.
Brianna: Just answer him
You: no, go to sleep bri
Just as you were about to silence all notifications from Diego you got a message from him that caught your attention

Diego
Please call me. It's about your dad, he's in the hospital and in critical condition.

You: what the fuck?
You showed it to Brianna and she gasped
Brianna: WHAT?
You: I don't know if I should believe him. What if it's just a lie to talk to me?
Brianna: y/n who would use that as an excuse? Call him. Now. This is sounds bad.
You bit your lip and hoped that all of this was a lie. You began to worry heavily.
You: bri I'm scared. What if it's true. If something happens to my dad I swear-
Brianna: no! don't say anything. We have to think positive. Call Diego.
Without hesitation you tapped the phone icon next to Diego's name. He immediately picked up and your breathing accelerated.
Diego: Finally!
You: can you please explain what the message you sent me is about?
Diego: I'm sorry to be the one to let you know the bad news.
You: what is going on?
Diego: you need to get here now. Your dad and I got into a car accident and he's in critical condition. There's a chance he might not make it. I'm sorry.
You: WHAT?
Diego: chucky is on his way here, my mom just called to let him know. You need to come.
You: oh my god. How is he? What happened?
Diego: I'm not sure, I don't know anything. The doctors haven't given out any more information about your dad.
You: keep me updated on EVERYTHING.  I'm leaving for the airport. I'll be there by morning.
You hung up and sprung up from the couch
Brianna: what's wrong? What did he say?
You; it's true my dad is in the hospital
Brianna: oh my god. what are you going to do?
You: I'm flying over there now. I need you to take me to the airport.
Brianna: no way I'm letting you fly alone. I'm coming with you. What should we pack?
You: nothing
Brianna: nothing?
You: MY DADS LIFE IS AT STAKE. WE NEED TO LEAVE NOW BRIANNA.
