chapter 44

"Rani, please take a day off tomorrow, I want to take you somewhere" Rajendra had said

The night before, their day-to-day lives had become somewhat peaceful, Rajendra no longer expected Anjali to jump on his every whim, infact he was more than happy to do the jumping.

However there were still many things which were unclear, for example the things he had said about Laxman, And somehow even Laxman had not visited her yet, he still called her and messaged her, asking about her health and recovery, but he did not come to meet her, which was very unlike Lucky, was he still intimidated by Rajendra? Or was it something else. Did what Rajendra say actually true? Nono till now Rajendra had not shown her proofs, and she could not ask, as he had not recovered properly, she had not wanted to put the pressure on him

The next morning Anjali got ready in a baby pink kurti and jeans, as she did not know where he was taking her, she got ready with just lipstick and kohl and wore her earrings and stepped out of her room, yes her room, after that day when Rajendra had asked for a chance from her, they have been living separately, physically at least, and Rajendra had never tried to cross that boundary, which frankly had surprised Anjali a little, he had always wanted to touch her, hug her, kiss her, what had changed?

As usual Rajendra was sitting at the dining table waiting for her, the maid had already cooked the breakfast for them. And Rajendra had prepared coffee for them.

This was what had surprised her the most. Rajendra had not wanted to keep a maid in the initial days of their marriage as he had wanted to eat food prepared by her, but now willingly he had kept the maid

"We both are working Rani, it will be too tiring for either of us, to handle both responsibilities"

He had said when she had asked him about it. Though she did want to prepare something for him now, and one of these days may be, just may be, she would be able to do so with no hard feelings.

"You look beautiful Rani, just like the Queen, you are" he said with a smile, and pulled a chair for her

He had definitely gotten better at paying compliments to her, she thought with a smile and blushed a little

She murmured a thank you in return. He cleaned up good as well. Surprisingly he was dressed similar to her, in a red kurta and jeans. Rajendra always looked good in Red

This actually brought back to her the memory when they had just got married and they were going to visit the temple for the first time

"Raja, where are we going?" Anjali had asked for the umpteenth time, while he had just smiled at her, again!

"Don't be annoyed Rani! You know how it is patience, fruits!"

Anjali had just turned towards him, with a bright smile and smacked on his arm, hard!

"Ahh! Violent woman!" He had screamed, as if she had drilled a whole in his rock like arm.

He was dressed in a red Kurta with little embroidery around the collar, and jeans, he had a smile on his face and was wearing shades, he was even humming a tune, Raja was especially happy today

He took her hand from her lap, and pressed a kiss on the back of her hand

"You are looking beautiful Rani" he murmured

Anjali had thought he had not even noticed

"I thought you did not notice" she had said with a pout

"How can I notice, how beautiful you look in yellow salwar, your beautiful round earrings, your wrists filled with green and yellow bangles, and your red lips, you looked soo beautiful, I had almost cancelled our plans" he had said with a wink, making her blush.

They had visited the temple, to seek blessings for their married life, according to Raja, he had always wanted to bring her here, after their wedding. He had then applied vermillion on her head, as asked by the sage there and then taken his blessings

"Rani, From today, I am going to take the first step, to bring you all the comfort in the world and with you by my side, I know, I will succeed" he had said and then, he had asked her to put vermillion on some papers, with the title "AR Enterprise" and when she had asked him about it, he had again given her his mischievous smirk

"I'll tell you when the right time comes" and he had winked at her

She had blushed and then had scolded him for making him blush

"You seem to be in a good mood Rani" Rajendra's voice brought her back from her memories

"Lets go or we will get late" she murmured and left the house, with Rajendra following behind her

"Rani, do you remember this path, do you remember how annoyed you were as you did not know where we were heading too?" Rajendra asked, with a smile on his face, these years had aged him, now there were wrinkles around his eyes whenever he smiled, and grooves at the corner of his lips. He looked more handsome and mature than before

"You know Rani, how you had pestered me with questions, and how cute your pout was, all I had wanted to do was collect you in my arms right there and then, and never let you go, and how I wish I had done just that" He said

Anjali blinked her eyes, to hide the tears in her eyes, how can she forget this place, the temple where he had brought her, it was atleast two hours drive from their home and they had been soo loving and trusting then

"Rajendra why are we going there?" She asked

"Ah! The inquisitive Rani is back, you will know when we reach there"

Ahh! Will this man ever answer her in a straight forward manner, why did he always ask her to wait!

"I can see the annoyance returning" Rajendra said with a whistle

Anjali turned towards him, gave him a big smile and then smacked on his arm, hard!

"Ahh! Violent woman!" He screamed

They both looked at each other and then burst out laughing
