A/N: Modern AU where demons are still active during the modern era.

Y/N's POV

" That's $12.99. Have a good day." I say as I hand the bag of clothes to the customer. They nod and walk off. " Good work today Y/N. You can take your break now." My boss said. I nodded and wen to take my break. My name is Y/N L/N. I'm eighteen years old and a high school student. My family moved to Japan eight years ago because of my dad's job. To earn some money for collage I got a job at a local clothes shop to earn some money. Overall I've had fun here. But apparently there is a rumor about demons running around. According to the rumors they've been around since the Heian Era.

There was a huge battle against them but the people fighting lost. The Demon King won and has been in hiding ever since. At least that's what the rumors say. Personally I don't believe it.
 " Okay, thirty minutes then back to work. Good thing tomorrow is the weekend. Otherwise I'd be pissed about working the closing shift." I said. i took out my phone and scrolled through social media while eating my dinner. But as I was scrolling I got a news alert. " Warning! Immediate shelter in place orders! There has been a mass outbreak of demons. Whatever you do, don't-" The news report went to static and i heard screaming and yelling from outside the break room.

" What the hell?" I asked aloud. I peeked out the door and saw a demon eating my boss. I shut the door and quickly barricaded it. I then locked myself in the bathroom and turned off the lights. I texted my parents but got no response. " This can't be happening. This can't be happening!' I thought to myself. The screaming finally stopped when dawn came. I ended up falling asleep. Once I woke up I left the bathroom and peeked outside the break room door. There weren't any demons so I stepped out. 

" I guess they don't like the sun." I thought to myself. Once I stepped out, I was greeted with the sight of piles of blood and discarded limbs. I let out a scream. Everyone, not just in the store but the entire mall, was dead. I tried calling my parents, friends, anyone. But no one picked up. From what I knew, I was probably the only survivor. " Oh shit. What do I do?' I thought to myself. I then slapped myself across the face. " Get a grip Y/N. You've seen a lot of apocalypse movies. You can survive until it's safe to leave." I said to myself.

The sun would be fully down at 18:00. I have a few hours to get everything ready. I ran through the mall checking for survivors. I knew the demons would be back for the rest of the bodies tonight so i had to be quick. Once I concluded that there were no survivors, I went over to the food court. " Okay, I have the kitchens of each place to cook food. I also have the already made food which i can warm up. Plus there is a place down the road that I could take food from to cook." I said. I quickly grabbed some water, a twin mattress from the bedding section of my store, some sleeping supplies, and set up a small alert system for the store. Once sunset came I locked myself in the bathroom.

The hours past and I stayed locked in the bathroom. When it approached midnight, I heard something crash in the store. I got up quickly and peered outside the door. I saw two demons eating the corpses. I decided to observe to see if I could find out what they want. " Ugh....they're already rotten." The first one said. " Quiet. Lord Muzan permitted us to eat this. If he didn't we'd have to eat scraps." The second one said. " Muzan? Is that the boss?" I thought to myself. " Tch, whatever. He's not so great." The first one said. " Quiet. He might hear us. Even though he's not here he probably know what we're saying." The second one said.

" All he ever does is research about a stupid blue flower. What was it again? A Blue Spider Lily?" The first one said. " So that's what they're after. But why kill all the humans?" I thought to myself. " He managed to turn more humans into demons but the ones who didn't make it or he found annoying he killed. there are still some left but they're outside the main cities." The second one said. " So there are still some people left." I thought to myself. But i accidentally leaned to far forward and cause myself to fall on the floor with the door opened.
