A/N: This short was inspired by the Boundless Choreo light cone in Honkai Star Rail. Credit to the original story goes to Honkai Star Rail. I was looking at the costume set for the Sage of Truth and Truthless Recluse and this light cone description came to mind.
Their dance glides gracefully, shadows and light silently exchanging places. He takes the other person's hand, his smile beaming into those indifferent eyes.
Beautiful Truthseeker....Welcome to the stage of truth. At this proximity....you are far more enchanting than one might perceive.
The surroundings darken, a beam of light cascading from the dome above, tracing their evolving steps.
However, some were meant to dance with us but have yet to arrive....
In the spinning moment, he draws closer t that expressionless face, grips that cold hand, and softly inquires....
Tell me Truthseeker. What truths do you seek?
As their dance steps grow hurried more and more, fragmented snippets of the past rush into his mind through their joined fingertips.
In the past that stretches back further and further, he hears the sound of rain and the lamentations just before life's extinguish. Then, he sees his dance partner holding a black Soul Jam in the drizzling rain. Finally, as far as his eyes can see....
A feild of drowned corpses bobbing in the river.
Panic-stricken, he tries to withdraw his hand, falling backwards. The surroundings brighten again, the banquets clamor resurfacing. His dance partner gently supports his waist, as if oblivious to the ordeal that just unfolded.
What a lovely dance that was, Sage of Truth. Shall we have another go?
