3rd Person POV
" Ready, aim, fire!" The commander said. One by one the archers let loose our arrows. Most of them missed the target. The others hit it but very far from the bull's eye. The commander sighed. " Terrible. You call yourselves soldiers of the Dark Cacao Kingdom? All of you do 100 laps around the wall, now!" They said. The soldiers sighed and started running. As the commander looked at each failed attempt on the target, they noticed no arrow next to or on the target. " You there. Where is Y/N?" They asked one of the soldiers. " Dunno. Haven't seen her all morning." The soldier said. " The commander sighed. " Y/N..." They said.
Y/N's POV
I steadied my bow, aiming at the monster in the forest. I let the arrow loose and it hit the beast head on. I hopped down from the tree I was in to go and retrieve the arrow from the monster. " Another one down." I said as I cleaned off the arrow in the snow. However I quickly repositioned the arrow and drew it back with my bowstring when I heard someone approaching. I turned around and came face to face with the commander. " You're lucky I didn't fire." I said as I withdrew the string. " Where were you today? Training is mandatory and you weren't there." They said. " I've told you this a thousand times before. I don't need training. At least not the training that normal soldiers go through." I said. " It doesn't matter if you need it or not. It's mandatory by the order of Dark Cacao." They said. " Well if the King has a problem with me skipping training, tell him to bring it up to me himself. I will not adhere to any form of rules or restrictions if I know it will hold me back." I said. I then jumped back up into the trees and away from them. I spent the rest of the day hunting and went back at night to where the rest of the soldiers meet up to have dinner. The second I walked in, everyone went silent. I looked around and then walked forward to grab my food. I could hear everyone whispering about me. I usually ignore them but when I heard that one of the soldiers was about to through some food at me, I went on high alert. I concentrated and grabbed the food midair when it was thrown at me, not dropping y own food. I then turned to face the soldier who threw the food at me. " Do you really think that was a wise decision?" I asked sternly. The room became deathly silent. " Just because I wear a blindfold doesn't mean I can't see. Plus, you should know what will happen if I take it off." I said. I put the food I was holding in the trash and walked outside to enjoy my meal alone.
One common perception about me is that I cannot see. I wear a blindfold so the ones who haven't heard my story always assume that I'm blind. But the truth is that I can see better than anyone else here. let me start from the beginning. My parents were worshippers of a darker cookie. When I was but a child, they gave me to the Darkness in an attempt to win her favor. But I ended up escaping. I knew that if I went back I'd be as good as crumbled. So I ran away. However, the darkness changed me. Anything living that crossed my gaze was dead in an instant. at first it was animals and monsters. But soon enough it was cookies. I was called a monster and run out of every town I went to. I was always turned away, ridiculed, or beaten for just passing through. So I decided to wear a blindfold to prevent anything from passing my gaze and meeting an untimely end. When I was in my teenaged years, I wandered into the territory of the Dark Cacao Kingdom.I was discovered by a patrol and was taken in for questioning. They assumed I was a spy and brought me before the King: Dark Cacao Cookie. He began to question me but at one point, one of the commanders ordered a soldier to remove my blindfold. I forgot what the reason was but the second it was removed my body acted on it's own and slaughtered all of the nearby cookies. the only was my rampaged ended was when i was knocked unconscious by Dark Cacao himself. When I woke up I expected to be in a cell but found myself in a medical room. I was given a new blindfold and was told that Dark Cacao has requested that I become a soldier in service to his kingdom. I was confused as to why but received no response. I weighed my options and ultimately accepted. Now in my early adult years, I'm one of the best archers in the entire army.
