Y/N's POV
I remember that day well. It was a peaceful and calm day. The sun was shining in the sky, people were walking and talking to each other, children were playing in the streets, merchants were selling their goods, and smiles could be seen everywhere. But then came the overwhelming smell of spice. The next thing I remember is that happy day turning tragic. Our homes were destroyed. The cookies were panicking and trying to run to safety. My father grabbed hold of my mother and I to try and keep us safe. I remember seeing the crumbs that used to be cookies. I wanted to scream and cry. But I couldn't breathe in the spice. My lungs were burning from it. Then suddenly, an explosion happened in front of us. When the smoke cleared, I saw my father's broken body crumbled by an axe. My mother let out a scream and started crying. I could feel the tears running down my face but didn't let out a single sound. My mother and I were then forcefully pulled away from my father's crumbs and rounded up with the rest of the surviving villagers. We then saw the person responsible for the destruction of our happy life. It was none other than the Herald of Change: Burning Spice Cookie.
Finding it amusing that we survived, he decided to keep us as his slaves. We were taken from our homeland and forced to build him a city dedicated to him. When he got bored, he'd come down from his throne and inspect our work. Sometimes he would smash cookies just for fun when he felt like they weren't doing enough work. I came to the conclusion he needed an excuse not to look so barbaric. " Hey, get back to work!" One of the nearby guards said to me. I quickly nodded and got back to what I was doing. My mother and I are apart of the stone carving group. It's our job to carve the murals into the stone. " Remember to keep your head down and mind your own business Y/N." My mother said. " Yes mother." I said. My mother's changed since everything has happened. She isn't the cheerful person who I used to know. We barely talk anymore. It's been like that for the past 11 years. I know it's because of everything that's happened but I miss how things used to be. As we worked, the overwhelming smell of spice soon coated the air and your could feel the fear rising in everyone.
I looked over at my mother. She was shaking out of fear. The scent got stronger, making it hard to breathe. For us who have been here longer, we've gotten used to breathing it in. But it was still difficult sometimes. " I'm going to go and get some water so we can clean the spice out of our throat." I said to my mother. She stayed silent and I walked off. I took a look back at her and sighed. " One day things will be back to how they used to be." I said. But I wasn't aware of where i was walking and ended up bumping into someone carrying some stones. They dropped the stones and they cracked. Everyone went silent as I sat there in shock. " What have I done? What have I done?" I thought to myself as the fear took over. " Well, well. What happened here?" I heard a voice say. The jam inside of me ran cold as I turned to see Burning Spice looking down at me. " S-She bumped into me. I didn't drop it." The cookie that I bumped into said. " Is that so?" He asked as he looked at me. I quickly bowed. " I-I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Please, have mercy." I said. I was shaking out of fear. " Mercy? Are you asking me to have mercy? HAHAHAHAHA!" He said with a laugh. I could feel tears falling from my face. " I haven't had a laugh like that in a while. Hahaha! Begging for mercy like the pathetic cookie you are. What is your name?" He asked. " Y-Y/N." I said. " Y/N....hmmmm..." He said. He knelt down in front of me and placed one hand on my chin. He lifted my head up to face him. " I find you very entertaining Y/N. You will be one of my personal servants from now on." He said.
My eyes widened in fear. " Y-Your personal servant?" I asked. " Consider it a reward for being so entertaining." He said. He motioned for two of his attendants to grab me. I wanted to resist but I knew I couldn't since he was right there. AsI was dragged away, I saw my mother being comforted by two of the other slaves. I lowered my head and started crying more.
Time Skip....
It's been about seven months sinceI became Burning Spice's personal servant. The good thing is I don't have to toil away in the harsh sun working. Instead I have to be around him. It's better and worse at the same times. Most of the time I just follow him around in case he needs anything. When he's outside observing the work of the other slaves, I'm right by his side fetching whatever he needs. When he walks around, I walk with him. I've caught glimpses of my mother from the crowd. She looks completely dead inside. I heard some rumors that two of the others take care of her now since she's lost the will to live. I was currently standing by Burning Spice as he laid out on a spot outside. " Ugh...so bored...." He said. He got up and motioned for me to follow him. We descended the stairs and began walking around. I would always stay a few paces behind him as to not get him angry. It was a very hot day and we've already gotten reports on people fainting from the heat. I let out a sigh and wiped my forehead. " It's so hot..." I said to myself. I stopped for a moment to catch my breath. " Look out!" I heard someone say. I looked up to see a giant piece of stone falling towards me. It must've broke off of one of the walls. I knew I didn't have time to move. It would crush me and I would crumble.
