A/N: It was one fucking line that did it for me. One fucking line and my brain immediately thought of this. And I'm fine with it.
Y/N's POV
" My Lord, we're just one step away from freedom. Once we pass through this gate, no one will be able to stop us." Mok Tok said as he addressed Hoolay. " So, these hostages are useless now? Kill them both, Mok Tok." Hoolay said as he looked at Master Jiaoqiu and I. " M-Master Jiaoqiu?" I asked in a panicked tone. I could tell he was thinking. " Maybe these two Yaoqing messengers can strike a deal in exchange for their lives. They can use their status to help us escape from the Xianzhou. What do you both think, Mr Jaoqiu and Mr. Y/N?" Mok Tok asked us. Hoolay laughed.
" Just look at you! Fallen so low during my absence! You're even negotiating with the livestock. As far as i recall, no one from the Yaoqing would ever consider a deal with Duran's offspring." Hoolay said. Master Jiaoqiu stepped forward. " Deal. I certainly have more value alive. Mine and his identity, our knowledge of the Xianzhou, and my understanding of many things that your minions have no knowledge of....They'll all be valuable." Master Jiaoqiu said. Hoolay thought about it for a moment, looking between both of us, before speaking up. " Lowly beasts, muster up that pitiful tongue of yours and plead for what remaining life you both have. Speak up." Hoolay said.
" T-The woman who defeated you, Jingliu, has recently returned to the Luofu." I said. " That's correct. Your opportunity for revenge is right in front of you." Master Jiaoqiu said. " My Lord! These two slaves are talking nonsense.I've never heard anything about this! May I just kill them now?" Mok Tok asked. " Silence, Mok Tok! And you two slaves.....From now on, you'll both stay by my side. You both will only speak and move when I allow it. Otherwise, I'll dismember you both, from head to tail, inch by inch. Got it?" Hoolay said. Master Jiaoqiu nodded and then nudged me. I nodded as well. " B-But my Lord..." Mok Tok tried protesting. " We must stay here for some time, Mok Tok. Fear not, because once I step out of this prison, it is the people of the Xianzhou who should tremble in fear. I'll show them what true calamity means." Hoolay said. I felt a chill go down my spine. " Now, Duran's whelps! Follow me!" Hoolay said. Hoolay led all of us through the Shackling Prison and out into the open world. Once we reached the outside world, he had Mok Tok escort Master Jiaoqiu and I to a place near the Exalting Sanctum. Once we arrived, where we were brought to some injured foxians. But Master Jiaoqiu couldn't heal them properly without his cauldron. As he bickered with Mok Tok, I just sat off to the side. I tried looking for away to escape but everywhere was being blocked or watched by Hoolay's men.
" The more hope you hold in your heart, the greater the pain will be when death comes. I wonder if you'll maintain your composure when I tear your throat open. Or maybe I should let you watch as I kill your little apprentice over there." Mok Tok said as he looked at me. I tense up and bit and I could tell Master Jiaoqiu was pissed. I then heard footsteps. " His composure is only a temporary effect of the medicine, and it will wear off soon, right?" I heard a voice say. I got up from where I was and made my way over to Master Jiaoqiu. I then saw another foxian standing next to Mok Tok. This one was a lot taller. But the voice was familiar. there was no doubt in my mind that this foxian was a disguised Hoolay. In his foxian form he looked a lot older. He had white hair with foxian ears on the top of his head. His eyes were a shade of green and he had a beard on his face. He wore his normal clothes with the left side of his upper half exposed. He had a dark teal tattoo on his left shoulder. He was quite muscular. As I stood behind Master Jiaoqiu as he spoke with Hoolay, I felt my eyes constantly going back to Hoolay. I was terrified that he now looked like a foxian. After having a small discussion with Hoolay, Hoolay ordered Master Jiaoqiu to walk around the area and see if the Cloud Knights shut down the port.
Hoolay was certain Jiaoqiu would return. After all, I couldn't go with him. " Stay here Y/N and don't do anything stupid." Master Jiaoqiu said." A-Alright." I said. He smiled at me and then left. I was now alone with Hoolay and his gang. " Now that you are alone, I have some questions for you little one." Hoolay said as he made his way over to me. I was trembling with fear as I backed up a bit. " You have no need to fear me little one. I won't hurt you. Not yet at least." He said. I wasn't sure if I should feel more relieved or scared. " A-Alright." I said. " Good boy." Hoolay said as he patted my head. " W-What do you want to know?" I asked. " The first thing I want to know is why you call that slave Master? I am the only one you should be saying that too."He snapped at me. I tensed up. " M-Master....I mean Jiaoqiu is my teacher so that's why I call him master. He's teaching me how to be a healer." I said timidly. " I see. However, you will never call him master again. Only me. Got that slave?" He asked. I nodded and felt tears forming in my eyes. " Y-Yes Master Hoolay." I said. He sat on a nearby chair and looked at me. " Come here." He said. I walked over to him and he pulled me onto his lap. " How did you come into the care of that foxian?" He asked. I was still in semi shock from being pulled onto his lap but I knew I had to answer. " M-My parents died in a battle and Jiaoqiu was one of the medics treating the wounded at the scene. He was the one to tell me about their passing. When I told him I had no other family, he took me in as his apprentice. If it wasn't for him, I'd be dead." I said.
