A/N: AU where Martin turned back to normal and survived after becoming the avatar of Akatosh.

Y/N's POV

Flashback

" In the name of the Aedra watching us from the heavens, in the name of Akatosh himself, I crown you, Martin Septim, the new Emperor of Tamriel." The High Priest said as he placed the crown on Martin's head. I could see the nervousness in his expression. But he took a breath before turning to stand before the people. " All hail Martin Septim! All hail the Emperor!" The high priest said. " All hail Martin Septim! All hail the Emperor!" Everyone in the room said in unison. I looked at Martin who was looking at me. I smiled and nodded. He smiled back and nodded. After the coronation, everyone made their way to the palace for the celebration.

" Come on Champion. At least have one drink with us." One of my companions said as he tried pulling me into the castle. " Haha. You know I'm not one for parties my friend. You all go and enjoy it." I said. Some of my companions pouted. " You guys, I'll be at the Blade's temple if any of you need me." I said. " Just a moment before you go." I heard someone say. I turned to see Martin. My companions bowed. " I wish to speak with her alone if that's alright?" He said.
" Of course your majesty." One of them said. They headed inside to join the party. Martin walked up to me and I bowed. " Your majesty..." I said. " No need to do that my friend. " But I must. You are the Emperor after all." I said. " The only thing that's changed is my title. I am still the same me, my friend. So please....treat me as such." He said. " Of course Your majest- I mean....Martin." I said. He smiled.

" Will you not come and join us? Your companions seemed sadden at your sudden departure." He said. " You know I'm not one for parties. Plus I should be getting back to the Blade's Temple."  I said. " I'm sure Jauffre wouldn't mind if you didn't return until morning. He knows how important this day is. After all, even he is enjoying the party." He said. " I know. Which leaves the temple unguarded. Sure, Dagon is goner but we don't know for how long. There could be other forces at work in Tamriel and I won't allow anything to happen." I said. " You have always been head strong my friend. But I know that when you have your mind set on something, I can't change it. Before you leave though, I would like to ask you something." He said.

" What would you like to ask me?" I asked. I could see some hesitation in his eyes. " Well um... I was wondering if um...." He couldn't form the words he wanted to say. He took a breath to steady his nerves. " I was wondering if you would do me the honor in becoming my...um....my wi-...my wif-....my um..."  He couldn't get his phrase out. " You're what?" I asked in confusion.
" My um....personal bodyguard." He said. " Your personal body guard?" I asked. He nodded.
" Y-Yes. I figured that it was the best way for me to keep you at my side. You would live here in the palace with me, have special privileges, and have access to anything you wanted." He said.
" Martin, you don't need me here. You have Jauffre and the rest of the blades. You should trust them as much as you trust me. I politely decline your offer but if you ever need me, you know where to find me." I said. I gave him a small kiss on his cheek before walking down the steps of the palace and heading towards the temple.
