THE FIREHOUSE erupted into cheers upon hearing the good news from Gabby and Casey: she was pregnant. And they went over and congratulated the happy couple.
"All right, remember people, the outside world is on a need-to-know basis," Hermann told everyone. "Not a word goes beyond 51. Right, lieutenant?"
"Right," Casey responded.
"That goes especially for you, Connie," Hermann muttered, causing some laughter from the firefighters— but it also got a smile from Connie.

The firefighters responded to a vehicle accident call.
The lieutenant got control over the scene— attending to the truck that had crashed. There were two injured people that they needed to save.
Casey ordered Hermann and Melisa to take the roof off the other car, and they got right on it. Jimmy, the candidate, went with them— mostly to observe.
Something caught the candidate's attention once the roof was entirely off. "Check out the floorboard." They saw a gun lying there. "He was gonna Mad Max this thing."
Hermann turned to the man in the car. "Hey. You're kidding me, right?" He just got a shrug in return, which Melisa thought was funny. "For the love of God, will someone get over here and arrest this moron?"
As Melisa looked over at the crowd of people, she saw him, and her stomach dropped. This wasn't the first time he had shown up at a scene. She had seen him many times after leaving Lyla's place that night. And she was starting to worry— maybe it was time to get the police involved.
