Another day of riding for Bilbo. Another day of listening as the dwarves chattered cheerily. Another day of having them come over and try and talk to his sister, and even though she had been as polite as she had been the days before, there was something different about her today. Bilbo not blind to the fact that she kept reaching her hand underneath her thick, long hair, to touch her ears. Something she would always do to calm herself when she was younger; something that she would do when she was lost in thoughts.

He could recall that when his sister had been brought home by his father, his mother had brushed (Y/n)'s already long hair away from her face; the little hobbit amazed by not only how pretty the tiny creature was, but by the few whiskers that grew on the side of her face; and by her ears. Ears that were far pointier than a hobbits should be.

Bilbo rushed to the door, when he finally caught sight of his father, as he came up the small incline towards the house. The little hobbit bouncing on his toes, as he waited for the green door to be pushed open. His mother coming to join him, placing a hand on his shoulder; a broad smile on her face, as the door slowly opened. Belladonna's brows furrowing, as she saw a strange bundle in her husband's arms.

"Bilbo. Will you go to your room for a moment.........."

"But mama..............."

"Please, sweetling. You can see papa in a minute. He and I need to talk." Belladonna continued, carefully ushering her son towards his room, before she made her way over to Bungo. Bilbo secretly watching, as his parents spoke quietly. Almost jumping out of his skin as a sudden cry came, as his father passed over the strange bundle in his arms, to his mother. Bilbo not sure what to think, as she began to coo softly, over the new thing in her arms. The little hobbit able to see the broad smile on his mother's face, as she made her way from the entrance of the home to the living room. Bilbo slowly, hesitantly making his way out of his room; his father smiling at him, as he rushed over to Bungo, to hug him. His eyes growing wide, as another strange noise rang out.

"Papa..........?"

"It is alright, Bilbo. I brough home someone special. Why don't you go and meet her." Bungo said, as he caught his son's arm and gentle pulled him towards the sitting room. Bilbo watching for a moment, as his smiling mother continued to softly talk to the bundle that was wrapped in a blanket. Belladonna finally looking up and gesturing for her son to join her.

"Mama, what.........?" Bilbo asked, as he took a seat next to his mother on the chair. Belladonna moving their tiny visitor, so that he could get a better look.

"Your father brought her home, Bilbo." His mother replied, as she pulled some of the blanket and her hair away from the little ones, face. Bilbo gasping as he looked upon her.

"She's so pretty, mama. But why has she got hair on her face, and really pointy ears..........?" The little hobbit enquired, as he carefully brushed his fingers over the side of her cheek, and up to the tips of her ears. The tiny being gurgling happily as he did so. A huge smile making its way onto Bilbo's lips, as she reached up and took his finger. Gripping it tightly in her hand.

"Well, she is special, and just a little different. But that does not mean that she isn't as beautiful. That doesn't mean that she isn't one of us........"

"Can we keep her, mama. I want to keep her........." Bilbo interrupted, as he carefully pulled his hand away from the visitor and held out his arms in hopes that his mother would let him hold her. Belladonna smiling at her happy son, before placing the little one in his arms. Showing him how best to hold her.

"Of course we can, my sweetling. She can be your little sister, if you want. She will be part of our family. Would you like that.......?" Belladonna asked, a soft chuckle leaving her lips, as Bilbo nodded enthusiastically.

"Being a big brother is a big responsibility, you know......." Bungo said, as he came to join them.

"You will need to look after her, to protect her. You will need to be patient with her and love her. Can you do that.........?" Bungo continued. Laughing, as his son once more nodded with all the gusto that his little body could summon.

"Well, then, that's settled. Though she will need a name.........." Belladonna said, as she looked at her husband. Bungo giving her a knowing nod in agreement.

"Why don't you think of a name for her, Bilbo." Belladonna continued. Bilbo smiling broadly, as he sat there and looked at his little sister. Musing for a few moments, before turning his attention to his parents.

"(Y/n). I want to call her (Y/n)..............."

                                                         >>-------------------------------<<

"(Y/n).............(Y/n).............?" The sudden sound of her name, shaking the thoughts from her mind. The dwarrowdam quickly pulling her hand from her ear, as she turned her attention to her brother.

"Bilbo........?"

"Is everything alright?" The hobbit enquired, as he manoeuvred Myrtle to the side of his sister's pony.

"What.........oh, yes. I........I was just thinking." (Y/n) replied, as she smiled at her brother. Not realising up until now that the sun was starting to descend over the horizon. The pair happy to hear Thorin suddenly call out, that they would be making camp, as they moved into a clearing. Bilbo hoping to discover exactly what his sister had been thinking about, once they were safely sat on their bed rolls, around the fire, filling their bellies with one of Bombur's stews.
