Squeals of joy, that was what could be heard ringing out through the halls of Erebor. Balin and Thorin stopping their conversation about the daily dealings of the dwarven kingdom that was slowly, but steadily coming back to life, at the sound. The elder dwarf chuckling as he looked over the large pile of scrolls in his arms and saw a large, furry, black blur running through the corridors followed by seemingly every dwarfling in the Mountain. All of them shouting, squealing and laughing with utter delight.

(Y/n)'s wolf side had proved to be far different from Beorn's bear side. The large wolf able to understand and react as (Y/n) would; a beast, unlike the bear, that no one needed to fear, well......unless you got on her wrong side, that was.

It had been some time since Thorin had invited the skin changer to stay in the Mountain; and she had proved herself so loyal to not only Thorin, but also all the other dwarves that were returning to Erebor, that even Dwalin no long followed her and Thorin around, when they walked together, with one of his axes at the ready. In fact, whenever the warrior dwarf had the inkling to go hunting, (Y/n) would be the first one he would call on to accompany him. Dwalin stating, when teased by the two princes, that a big wolf was a handy thing to have by your side. That, and she was excellent at flushing out all the small game.

"The little ones love tha lass........" Balin said, as he and the king continued to watch the goings on. It well known by now, that if a mother could not find her children, all she would have to do was find the skin changer, and there they would be. (Y/n) telling them stories and playing with them, in both her forms.

"And fa a people that tend ta be suspicious of anyone that isn't kin, I would say that everyone else love her too......." The pale haired dwarf continued, as he looked over to Thorin; the King under the Mountain never taking his eyes from the skin changer.

It was obvious to Balin, well, it was obvious to anyone that could see, that despite himself, Thorin had had some kind of feelings for the skin changer, seemingly from the moment that they met, as really that was the only explanation for him inviting (Y/n) the stay in the Mountain in the first place. That and it would explain how his mood would turn sour when the Moon child would venture to Dale to see Margit, and came back with tales of joining Bard and his children, for supper, while there. Yet despite his obvious affection for the beautiful woman, the King was yet to say anything; yet to admit that he felt something more than friendship towards (Y/n).

"And what do you mean by that........?" Thorin asked, as he turned to look at his aging advisor.

"I mean, that even our lives are too short ta spend all of it, alone. You've done what ya set out ta do, ya honoured ya father and grandfather by reclaiming tha Mountain, by bringing our people, home. But there is just one thing missin......."

"And what would that be..........?" Thorin enquired, his brows furrowed as he continued to look at the pale haired dwarf.

"A queen, lad.........." Balin pointing at the wolf, as it and the children came running towards them. The beast suddenly stopping and sitting as she spotted Thorin. Her body jolting slightly, as all the dwarflings crashed into her.

A queen. Of course, there had been mention of it since his people had begun to return to the Mountain, and even his own sister had spoken to him about it; that it was only right that he marries and have heirs to follow after him on the throne. Thorin having protested, by stating that he already had heirs in Fili and Kili; but Dis had simply retorted that the Mountain, that he needed a gentle hand to guide him, to council him, to love him. The princess not saying whom this queen should be, but even Thorin was not blind to how his sister would react when (Y/n) came for tea; how she would sit the skin changer next to her brother, before leaving the pair to talk, while she got the pot and cups. Not that Thorin minded; from their first meeting, the King had felt drawn to the exquisite beauty. Drawn to her so much, that he had felt compelled to ask her to come and stay in the Mountain, to stay with him. His jealousy always getting the better of him when she would venture from the Mountain and make her way down to Dale to see not only the old woman, Margit; but also, she would see Bard. The new Master of Dale seeming to be able to put a smile on (Y/n)'s face that only he wanted to put there. Yet marriage.........? Had he not got passed that point in his life? Had he not left it too late to hope for such a thing? And there was also the fact that (Y/n) might not feel for him, as he did for her. Yet as the huge wolf looked at him; her yellow eyes shimmering like the seams of gold that made their way through the walls of the Mountain, like streaks of lightening; he knew that Balin, that his sister was right; he had been on his own for far too long. He had denied himself love, because his duty to his people, had come first. So now, perhaps he should not let the fear that gnawed at him whenever he contemplated (Y/n) denying his love, continue, and just say something. For either way, at least he would know.

"(Y/n)........." Thorin greeted. The huge beast bowing respectfully to the king, as the dwarflings looked around her large form, at him, and whispered.

"I see that you and the children are having fun........." The dwarven king continued, trying not to smile as the wolf grinned broadly at him. Her sharp teeth glinting in the glow of the torches that lined the walls.

"Well, I should let you get back to it.......though I would like you to join me for dinner this evening, in my apartments. There is something I would like to discuss with you............." (Y/n) bowing once again, then quickly jumping back to her feet and turning to look at the children. A soft snarl leaving her lips, before it was her turn to chase after them.
