"UNCLE THORIN!" Thorin looking up, as he heard his name shouted over the noise of the market and his own hammering. The large dwarf pushing the piece of metal back into the fire before picking up a cloth to wipe his sweaty brow. A smile making its way onto his lips as he saw Kili, quickly followed by Fili, pushing their way through the bustling crowd.

"Uncle Thorin.........!" The little dark-haired dwarf called out again. Doing his best to catch his breath after running all the way to his uncle's blacksmiths shop.

"Kili......Fili.....what.......?"

"Mother says that (Y/n) can take us for a picnic." Fili said, earning a glare from his little brother.

"I wanted to tell uncle." Kili protested, now that he was breathing normally again. The two little dwarves beginning to squabble. Thorin just shaking his head, before he moved to stoke the furnace.

"Good morning, Master Thorin." The blacksmith turning to see the most beautiful dwarrowdam in, well, he was sure in the whole of Middle-Earth, come towards the shop. Kili and Fili running over to her and each taking one of her hands, before pulling her towards their uncle.

"Mistress (Y/n)." Thorin quickly replied. A full smile appearing on his lips, as she and his nephews stood before him. Fili and Kili both looking at one another and then the two adults, doing their best not to laugh, as their big and usually confident and proud uncle, appeared to grow more and more nervous, as (Y/n) continued to smile at him.

Thorin was sure that he could feel a new sheen of sweat come to his brow, though it had nothing to do with the heat of the shop. He and (Y/n) had known one another all their lives; known one another when he was a prince and she a high-born lady. When they all still lived in the great halls of the Lonely Mountain; Thrór and Thráin even having spoken to Thorin about a match between the pair, stating that (Y/n) would make a perfect queen for their people, when the time came for Thorin to rule. Yet before Thorin could act; before the prince could confess to the fair dwarrowdam how he felt, how he wanted to make her his own, the dragon had come to the Mountain. The beast taking the realm of the Durin folk, sending them out to wander Middle-Earth; exiles from the only home that they had known. Having to do whatever they could, to survive, until they had managed to make a life for themselves in the Blue Mountains. The once proud prince becoming a blacksmith, and the lady a seamstress; and as much as he still desired to ask her to be his, he knew that he no longer had anything to offer her. (Y/n) deserved all the riches in the world, and all he had now was his little shop. She deserved to be taken care of, protected; yet all he could offer her was a future of long days and hard work. Thorin no longer feeling worthy of her, no longer feeling that he was good enough for such a wonderful and beautiful dwarrowdam.

"So.......a picnic." Thorin finally managed to continue, as Fili and Kili took to chasing one another around the market; bored of watching as the two adults just looked at one another.

"Yes. Dis is busy and I just thought it would be nice to take the boys out from under her feet for a little while. So, I packed a few things, and decided I would take them to where the old oak overlooks the pond. Fili and Kili of course insisted that they both bring their wooden swords so they could practice, because sitting and enjoying the day would of course be far too boring; though the one extra so they could fight me, was a little bit of a surprise." (Y/n) chuckled as she patted the basket on her arm; Thorin's eyes widening at the notion of her fighting, even if it were only with wooden swords, and against his young nephews.

"(Y/n), you shouldn't be............"

"Thorin, I am perfectly capable of playing with wooden swords with your nephews. I might have been raised a lady and not some warrior like you and Dwalin; but I seem to remember a time when you and I would fight and that, on more than one occasion may I say, I knocked you on your backside. So, those two darling boys should be no trouble at all." (Y/n) interrupted, shaking her head at Thorin's overprotective side.

"Now........" She continued, as she turned her attention for a moment to the market in order to catch a glimpse of the giggling dwarflings, who were now crouched next to a puppy. The little creature having rolled onto its back, so that it could have its belly rubbed.

"I should take those two tiny terrors away, before they do something they shouldn't." She added, before taking a step forward and placing a quick kiss to Thorin's cheek. His eyes widening at the gesture.

"If you wish to join us when you are done for the day, you know where we will be. I even managed to get one of Mistress Nila's famous pies, as I know you love them. And I would..............."

"(Y/n)!" Fili and Kili called out in unison, interrupting what she was going to say. The two at her sides and once more taking her hands, trying to pull her away from the shop.

"We're hungry. And you said that you would show us how to make fishing rods. I want to bring home a fish for momma. A big one.........." Kili said. Momentarily releasing her hand so that he could show her how big he wanted the fish to be.

"Alright, alright. Anyway, I am sure that your uncle has more than enough to do today, so let's get you out of here........." (Y/n) chuckled, as she let the two dwarflings pull her back through the market. The dwarrowdam giving Thorin one last look, before she and the boys disappeared from his sight.
