(Y/n) made her way to the festivities on the arm of her mother. She could already hear the music and the raucous laughter coming from the hall. Dis had said that it was only right that the guest of honour made an entrance, so that was why they were arriving later than all those that had been invited to Ered Luin for the celebration. The older princess saying that she wanted to make sure that every eye was on (Y/n), when the doors were opened. That all were paying attention to the most eligible and beautiful dwarrowdam in Middle-Earth. (Y/n) just wishing that the whole thing was over, and she could get out of the silly dress that she had had to don; not sure if she would be able to steer the thing into the hall, even if both great doors were opened.

"Now, you will dance with as many of the guests, as possible; won't you.......?"

"Yes mother........" (Y/n) replied, doing her best to not sigh as she spoke; though she did roll her eyes when her mother wasn't looking.

"Good. And just think, if one of them captures your eye, one day you could be wed and have little ones of your own.........." Dis continued with a dreamy hum, suddenly looking all misty eyed over the thought of grandchildren. (Y/n) wondering if their mother had given Fili and Kili this same speech, when they had come of age. If marriage and children had been spoken of, before their celebrations; but she doubted it. They were after all, boys; Fili destined to follow their uncle as the leader of their kin when Thorin passed to join Mahal and his father and grandfather. And Kili.......well, Kili was exceptionally good at flirting with anything female; so goodness only knew if he would ever settle down. And she, she was a girl, expectations, her role much different to that of her brothers. Yet that said, (Y/n) was as stubborn as any dwarf, and would live her life the way that she wanted. And if in the future that meant that she would have little ones of her own, then so be it; but for now, all she desired to do was spend as much time as she could with her brothers, with her uncle, with Balin and all the others that she loved. But most of all, she wanted to spend time with Dwalin; the big dwarf that she had loved since she had been a dwarfling. Some of her fondest memories being of the time that she had spent with the youngest son of Fundin. How he would carry her through the markets on his shoulders; how he had fought the dragon that she had once believed lived under her bed; (Y/n) terrified that it would take Ered Luin, just as Smaug had taken Erebor. It the first time that she had slept soundly for some time, once the warrior had made it fly away. And then there was the fact that despite her being a dwarrowdam, Dwalin had agreed to teach her to fight. He becoming the main one that would educate her in the ways of sword and axe. The princess not sure what she would do if he were not in her life. What she would do if she had to leave him. The notion almost breaking her heart.

"Now........." Dis said. Stopping her daughter as they stood before the great doors. The older princess making sure that nothing was out of place on her daughter.

"You look beautiful, my sweet one. And without a doubt, you are the most beautiful dwarrowdam in the Seven Realms; I hope that you have a wonderful evening......." Dis kissing her daughter on the cheek, before the two entered the hall.

                                                     >>-------------------------------------<<

Dwalin, along with what felt like every male from across the seven dwarf realms and a smattering of dwarrowdams, were already in the hall. The music playing as the ale flowed, laughter filing the large expanse as they awaited the guest of honour to arrive. Yet as much as Dwalin would normally be joining in, he found he could not. His mind filled with the possibility that one of the males present, might catch his darling's eye, and he would lose her forever. This notion causing him to already have growled menacingly at any male that had got close.

He hated the idea of losing her. Having to watch as some undeserving dwarf took her away. The notion of never seeing her again, a far worse pain than any he had experienced in battle. From the moment that she was nothing more than a babe in arms, Dwalin had felt a connection with the pretty little princess; and as she had grown, it was obvious that she felt it too. He the one that she would always seek out. He the one whose arms she would fall asleep in, after a long day. He the one that would always fight the monsters that would scare her. And he had promised that he would always do that for her. That he would always be there when she needed him. That he would care for her like no other dwarf could. So now, if he could just summon up the courage to tell his little darling how he truly felt; how he wanted her to be his, and only his, then he would never have to fear losing her, again. The youngest son of Fundin standing up to his full height, as the doors to the hall opened to reveal the two Durin princesses. Dwalin sure that his heart was about to burst as he saw (Y/n). His beautiful little darling looking every inch like the woman that she now was.
