Haldir held (Y/n) close, as they both lay looking at the fire; her bare back pulled to his naked chest, with their legs intertwined. They were married, after centuries of pointless rivalry, they were wed. Together they had spoken the names of Eru, exchange their words, then consummated their love; all that was missing were the rings. But in the eyes of elven tradition, the Marchwardens of the norther and southern borders of Lothlórien, were now man and wife.

"Im mel cin........." Haldir said softly, as he moved her hair and kissed her neck.

"A im mel cin, Haldir........." (Y/n) replied, as she turned over and rested her head on his pale chest. A contented sigh leaving her lips, as his fingers combed through her hair.

Having known Haldir, having him know her, had been more wonderful than she could ever imagine. He had been so gentle, yet still so passionate. He had done things, made her feel things that she never thought she would experience; and she had no desire to be with any other ellon. They had denied their true feeling for one another, for so long; but not anymore. And now all they wanted was to be together; yet despite their current happiness, there was still one issue.......Lindir.

"What do we do, Melleth nin? If we continue to Imladris, we will not only have to explain ourselves, our actions to Lindir; but to Lord Elrond too. And if we go home.........."

"If we go back to Lothlórien, the Lady Galadriel will understand. She will see that we love one another.........."

"She will see that I have gone against her wishes. That I have disobeyed her orders and allowed my heart to rule my head............she will never trust me again.........."

"And if you, if we had not followed our hearts, then what? We both know that the sorrow of not being able to be together, would have consumed us. That we would have pined away until there was nothing left of us, but shadows. No, emel nin; no matter what Lady Galadriel and Lord Elrond may think, we have done nothing wrong. All we have done is find one another. And nothing you could do would stop the Lady from trusting you. We have both served her and Lothlórien, dutifully, all our live; do we not deserve a little happiness now........?" Haldir countered, taking her chin in his palm and gently moving her head so that she was looking at him. A soft smile kissing his lips, as she nodded.

"Then tomorrow, we begin our journey back to Lothlórien and we will face the lady together, as husband and wife......." The Marchwarden of the north continued, before placing his forehead against hers.

"Haldir........."

"Yes, my heart...........?"

"Will you kiss me..........?"

"If that is what my wife wishes. But is a kiss all I can do for you.........?" (Y/n) unable to stop herself from laughing at his words.

"Well, a kiss is a good start. Though I am sure that we can think of something more." She replied. It Haldir's turn to nod, before he placed his lips to hers. Her arms wrapping around him, as the kiss became more passionate. A gasp leaving (Y/n), as he pushed her onto her back and his mouth made its way from her lips, down her neck and then to her chest; the elleth unable to stop herself from moaning, as her once rival, and now husband, found her nipple and ghosted his teeth across the hard bud, while he pulled her legs, high up around his waist. The night air filling with the sounds of love, as the two elves once more became one.

                                                            >>--------------------------------<<

Haldir pushed away whatever was nudging him. He had been having such a wonderful dream. It was a dream that he had had many times before but would never admit to. A dream where the beauteous Marchwarden of the southern borders of Lothlórien, had become his bride, and he was finally able to explore everything that his rival, was. It was a dream so glorious that he did not want to wake from it. But then he realised that something, or should that be, someone, was in his arms; that their naked body was pressed against his. His eyes flying open as he heard a familiar voice.

"Calroc, we will rise in a moment, the sun has hardly shown its face. Leave Haldir alone........" Haldir watching as (Y/n) pushed away the nose of her horse, when the pale mare went to push him again. The ellon smiling as the events of the previous night all came rushing back. How he had realised that he loved her and had joined her in the river; how they had pledged themselves to one another before Eru, and become one in body and soul. How they had agreed to return to their home, and face the Lady of Light, together, as man and wife. Haldir suddenly kissing her, thankful that for the first time in millennia, he had not woken to find himself, alone. Grateful to know that from now on, he would not wake alone, again.

"Haldir.....is everything alright.........?"

"It has never been better, Melleth nin." He replied, before kissing her again. The ellon pulling his bride close, and savouring the feel of her, until Calroc took it upon herself to nudge Haldir again.

"I think she is anxious to get home. She misses the trees and Caras Galadhon, just as I do........." (Y/n) explained, as she placed her hand on Haldir's cheek. The ellon taking it and bringing it to his lips so that he could kiss her palm.

"Then perhaps we should rise and dress. We have many days travel back to Lothlórien; but at least now we can spend every night in each other's arms, and I do not have to fear losing you to Lindir any longer." Haldir replied. Kissing his wife one more time, before the pair rose from their shared bed on the grass.
