Dwarven men were known to be protective of their women; even those women that weren't their one. But woe betide anyone that dare to come between a dwarf and his lady, for then you would get to see just how protective a dwarf could really be. And that, oh, that included Kili.

Many had to admit that they had found it quite amusing, well, it was mostly Fili that had found it amusing, when one day the dark-haired prince had informed all that he had found the most beautiful dwarrowdam in the world, by the name of (Y/n), and had already asked if he could court her. Thorin and Dis most definitely wanting to meet this fair maid, who had managed to catch and hold the eye of Kili. The family, along with Dwalin and Balin all waiting in Dis's home when Kili had brought his love over, for dinner. It obvious to anyone that had eyes, that the young dwarf was besotted with his dwarrowdam, and she with him. Dis quickly taking the younger woman from her son, before sitting her down and wanting to know everything about her. It evident that (Y/n) was a little nervous under the gaze of the one that would be king, his advisor and the gruff Dwalin; but a smile from Kili, seemed to have worked wonders, and she had been able to answer all of the princess's questions. All intrigued and astonished to hear that she was from a fine family in the Iron Hills; that after her parents passing, she had taken it upon herself to journey, alone, without the aid of anyone, to the Blue Mountains in search of pastures new. And that was how she and Kili had met. Kili not looking where he was going, and bumping into her, as soon as she had set foot into town.

Yet those first meetings were quite some time ago now. Kili at this moment, sitting, what felt like a world away from his beloved, in his lonely rooms in the Mountain. Nothing making much sense, as he contemplated everything they had done and been though; but there again, life had only started to make sense, once he had found (Y/n); so, without her; without dragons, orcs, and wargs to fill his mind at every moment, it once more didn't make sense.

He could still remember how (Y/n) had appeared, when he had told her that he and Fili would be joining their uncle and others on a quest to reclaim their home. How the tears in her eyes, had broken his heart; wishing that he could have said, yes, when she had told him that she would join them. That she was the one that had journeyed from the Iron Hills, all alone, so was perfectly capable of looking after herself, that she wanted nothing more than to fight by his side: but he would not see any harm come to her; he had found his one, and he didn't want to lose her. That, and he could not imagine that his uncle would look kindly on having a dwarrowdam, even one like (Y/n), on their journey to the Mountain; so, he had had to leave her behind. Yet before he had left her, they had been married with his mother, brother, uncle and friends by their sides. Kili able to spend one glorious night with his bride, before he and Fili had left to journey to the Shire to find a certain little hobbit hole. And now, now she was all he could think of. Now that the dragon had been defeated, now that the battle was over and the Mountain once more belonged to the Durin's folk, all he wanted was to have (Y/n) back in his arms; to be able to kiss her lips and have his senses filled with the odour of flowers, that always seemed to surround her. A heavy sigh leaving his lips, as he allowed his head to fall against the back of the chair, hoping that his message to (Y/n) and his mother had got to them in the Blue Mountains. That soon, he would once more be able to lay eyes on his one, his bride.

"KILI!" The dark-haired prince jumping to his feet at the loud exclamation of his name. Kili turning to see his brother smiling broadly at him.

"Fili, what............?" The younger prince not able to ask the rest of his question, before his brother grabbed his arm and pulled him from his room, through the halls of Erebor, to the entrance of the Mountain. Fili just telling him that there was something that he had to see. That there was something that would put a smile back on his face. Kili doubting it, but Fili wasn't giving him a chance to say no; so, all he could do, as they got to the battlements above the mostly reconstructed doors to the Mountain, was furrow his brows as Fili did his best to make him look presentable. Fili chuckling as his brother slapped away his hands; Kili about to ask what was going on, until he heard voices shout out to the Iron Hill guards, voices that he would know anywhere. He and Fili looking over the side to see their mother and (Y/n) both banging on the doors with walking staffs; Dis calling out to see her numbskull brother, who had nearly got himself killed. To see her sons, who had done the same. Both Fili and Kili sure that they could already feel their mother's hand smacking them around the back of the head, for their near deaths. The two brothers smiling at one another, Kili's heart beating quicker, before the two ran from the battlements, down to the entrance; the pair calling out the name of their mother, the name of (Y/n) as the two dwarrowdams, made their way into their home. Fili taking Dis into his arms, as Kili gripped hold of his wife's cloak, and pulled her close; a sudden cry, sending him jumping back. His eyes widening, as (Y/n) laughed and moved her cloak, to reveal something held securely to her. A wiggling little bundle, that was obviously the source of the cry.

"Amrâlimê........." (Y/n) chuckled, as she pulled her husband back to her, and kissed Kili on the nose, before taking the little creature that she had been protecting with her life since he was born, out of the lengths of soft material and fur that were wrapped around her, that had been keeping him warm.

"He has been creating since we got to Dale.........I think he knew that we were nearly home. That he would soon get to see his father........."

"Father!" Kili blurted out, as (Y/n) now held in her arms a tiny dwarfling with a great shock of black hair.

"Who..........?"

"Who else would it be, you silly dwarf.......?" (Y/n) countered, both she and Dis shaking their heads at the two seemingly shocked brothers.

"Kili Durin, I would like you to meet your son, Thráin. Dis and I both thought it would be right to name him for your grandfather........." The beautiful dwarrowdam announced, before placing the little being into his father's arms. Kili looking between his son, his wife, his brother and mother; everything seeming to fall into place, as they smiled back. Everything that they had been through, all the horrors they had faced, now making sense, as his son looked up at him, and pushing his chubby little fist into his mouth. A broad smile making its way onto Kili's lips, before he kissed (Y/n) and grabbed hold of her hand, pulling her through the halls of the Mountain shouting out at the top of his voice that he had a son. That his one had given him a son; a new prince, a new Durin that would call the Mountain home; and that everything made sense again.
