(Y/n) smiled as she watched Fili and Kili sit by the pond with the makeshift rods that she had made for them from branches that the old oak that shaded her from the sun, had discarded. The two little terrors arguing about who was going to catch the bigger fish to take home to their mother. The seamstress not about to spoil their fun by telling them that there were no giant fish in the pond, that would make any kind of meal. That the only things that they would find were minnows and frog spawn. Though she would be reminding herself to search the pair for frogs before they left. (Y/n) doubting that Dis would like to have the little green creatures jumping around her kitchen, again.
She couldn't help but let her thoughts go back to what the sons of Dis had said earlier, about her becoming their aunt. Even before the accursed dragon had taken the Mountain, she had been in love with Thorin; long before Kili and Fili were even thought of, and Dis herself had been just a dwarfling, most had believed that she and the oldest son of Thráin would be married. That she and Thorin made a perfect pair and that when the time came, the Mountain would be ruled over by the two of them. Yet after the attack of Smaug and their subsequent exodus from the only home that they had known, any thoughts of a possible marriage seemed to have vanished from Thorin's mind. Not that she could blame him. At the Battle of Moria, Thorin had not only lost Frerin, but his grandfather too. And his father......well, he had not been seen since that fateful day. The once noble prince brought to his knees by the weight that now lay upon his shoulders, the weight of his people, and their future. It not seeming to matter how many times she, Dis, Balin or Dwalin had told him that he had made a great life for them in the Blue Mountains; that they cared not that they were now only miners, seamstresses and blacksmiths, Thorin would still not allow himself to find any happiness. Or perhaps he was just not interested in finding happiness with her. Yet no matter what, she would never stop loving him. There not another dwarf that would ever take his place in her heart. The lady wishing that their traditions weren't as they were, and that she could, as Kili said, ask if she could court Thorin. But no matter what, even if Thorin never mentioned anything to her, had never actually cared about her; she would always remain his friend.
"UNCLE!" Two little voices suddenly exclaimed. The sound shaking the thoughts from her mind. (Y/n) looking up to see Fili and Kili drop their rods and run around the pond to get to the large dwarf that had just appeared from over the small ridge that surrounded the tranquil little spot. Her heart beating at a pace, as Fili grabbed his uncle's hand and Kili clung to his leg. Thorin nearly falling over as his older nephew pulled him towards (Y/n). The blacksmith grabbing at Kili's collar and peeling in from his leg, so that he could take him into his arms. The seamstress getting to her feet and smiling as Thorin stopped before her.
"Hello (Y/n). I........I don't suppose you have any of Mistress Nila's famous pie left, do you...........?"
>>-----------------------------------<<
Thorin quickly made his way through the town, the words of Dwalin going around and around in his mind. (Y/n) loved him, and it was only because of him that they had not already courted and been married for years. The son of Thráin finally realising all that he had missed out on.
It was true what his friend had said, the beautiful dwarrowdam had never really cared about any titles, hers or his. Thorin knowing that he was no less in her eyes now that he was a simple blacksmith. That whether he was covered in jewels and fine robes or sweat soaked, dirt covered clothes, he would always be the same man to her. The prince shaking his head at his own inaction, for failing to see that (Y/n) wasn't interested in being a queen or having all of the trappings of the wealth that lay in the Lonely Mountain; all she had ever cared about was him, was standing by his side, helping and supporting him in any way that she could. And the notion that he could lose that, was what was putting the speed in his steps, now. The streets and buildings making way for grassy knolls and trees. Thorin finally cresting the small ridge that surrounded the pond where (Y/n) said that she and his nephews would be having their picnic. A smile coming to his lips as he heard Fili and Kili call out to him. The pair quickly running over to where he was; the elder of the two grabbing his hand while the younger wrapped himself around his leg. Thorin almost falling over as Fili pulled him towards where (Y/n) sat. The prince grabbing Kili by the scruff of his collar and pulling him up into his arms, as he came to where the lady had just got to her feet. His heart thumping in his chest as she smiled at him.
"Hello (Y/n). I........I don't suppose you have any of Mistress Nila's famous pie left, do you...........?"
