Nim slowly opened the black out curtains, letting in the slightest bit of light to illuminate the room. Yoongi groaned at the sudden change, pulling the blankets on his bed tighter over his head, his entire body hidden underneath the grey comforter.
Nim shook his head, rolled his eyes and began speaking to Yoongi in Korean, while Rae translated the conversation in her head.
"Il-eona, umjig-iji anhneun Min." Wake up, Motionless Min.
"Sonnim-i osyeossseubnida." You have a visitor.
Suga groaned again in reply. "Jeoli gayo." Go away.
Nim gave a smile with his eyes. "Do you speak Korean well, Rae?"
Rae gave a small shrug. Rae was fluent in Korean, and she was also fluent in Spanish, but with her long blonde hair, blue eyes, and American accent, not many Korean's tried to converse with her. They all assumed she had no idea what they were saying, and being the introvert she was, she preferred it that way.
"I speak a little bit," Rae lied.
"Yoongi doesn't speak much English. If you need help translating, you can always use a translator app, or you can call me if you need me to translate for you," Nim offered.
"I am sure we will get by just fine," she assured him.
Nim patted the bed softly, trying to stir Suga.
"Jega ganhosa-ege jeonhago sip-eun mal-i issnayo?" Anything you want me to tell the nurse for you?
Suga still hadn't moved a muscle, his deep voice muffled by the blankets wrapped around his face. "Naneun imi geugeos-eul malhaessda. Jeoli gayo." I already said it. Go away.
Nim let out a nervous laugh. "Suga is very grateful you are here," Nim lied.
Rae tried not to let Suga's response offend her, afterall, he was only five days post-op from his surgery, and she knew he was on quite high doses of painkillers still.
"I can take it from here, Nim. We won't be doing much today, just checking how the stitches are healing up and refilling his medications until tomorrow," Rae explained to Nim.
Nim gave a hesitant nod. "I won't be long, I have to pick up Suga's dog from the groomer and then I will be back. Call me if you need anything."
Nim made his way to the door, turning to say a few last words of warning to Suga. "Hyung, chaghage gul eola." Hyung, be nice.
Suga grunted in reply.
"Good luck," Nim whispered, slipping out the door.
The room was silent for many moments as Rae opened up her tote, taking out the medical supplies she would need to complete Yoongi's evaluation. Rae couldn't help but feel nervous as Yoongi stirred, slowly sitting up and pulling off the covers to finally reveal his face.
Rae immediately noticed the infinite depth of his penetrating, dark, triangular-shaped eyes. His pale skin was perfectly smooth, his cheeks flushed the slightest shade of pink. Yoongi's features were sharp and precise, every edge and angle contouring his heart-shaped face.
His fine jet-black hair was emphasized from its undercut style, the length brushing past his ears to nearly cover the three piercings in his one ear, and the two on the other. His defined cupid bow on his rosy upper lip was accentuated as the corners of his mouth lifted up slightly, his mouth gaped as he let out a deep exhale.
Rae couldn't hold back her thoughts. He was breathtaking.
Yoongi grimaced as he fully sat up, holding his left arm that was tightly constricted in a black sling blending in against the backdrop of his oversized black t-shirt.
Rae suddenly felt like her face was on fire as Yoongi raised one of his exquisitely groomed eyebrows and communicated a disinterested expression.
Yoongi's eyes remained fixated on Rae, his demeanor not budging even in the uncomfortable silence.
Rae cleared her throat as she nervously pulled on her gloves, and said a silent prayer of gratitude that the mask she was wearing was concealing how red her cheeks had become from Yoongi's penetrating stare.
"Annyeonghaseyo," Rae managed to whisper timidly. She hesitated as she approached Yoongi's bedside, and motioned to his shoulder.
"Can I take a look at your stitches for a moment?" Rae asked him in English.
Yoongi remained silent as he let out another sigh, not indicating if he understood her or not, but he winced as he lifted the sleeve on his shirt to expose his shoulder, doing his best to move it out of the way of his sling for Rae to view. Even not understanding, it was pretty clear what Rae was there for, it didn't take much to figure out what she was asking to see.
Rae gave a small bow as she looked over his shoulder, her fingers shaking as she placed them gently around the incision site. The stitches and incision were healing up neatly, the surgeon's expertise clearly evident. Rae saw no obvious signs of infection or irritation. Rae gave a nod and pulled back Yoongi's sleeve to cover his shoulder once again. She walked over to her computer to take some notes.
"The incision is healing nicely. I will be able to remove the stitches in a few days. How is your pain?" Rae inquired quietly as she typed away. "Tongjeung?" She said, giving a basic translation for him to understand.
Yoongi huffed. "Naneun deo nappeun il-eul gyeokk-eossda." I've had worse. Yoongi stared at Rae, seeing if she would reply, and when she let the silence linger a bit longer he did his best to respond in English. "No good."
Rae nodded, indicating she understood. She knew it was a silly question, it was obvious he was in pain. She pulled out some prescription pain relievers from her bag and placed the dosage in a cup. She put the medicine on his nightstand and a small bottle of water she had brought with her.
"You can take these now, I will be back tomorrow to give you your next dose."
Yoongi quietly took the cup, raised it in a "cheers" motion, ignored the bottled water on the nightstand, and threw back the pills in his throat to swallow them dry. He placed the cup back on the nightstand and pulled the covers over his head, dismissing Rae for the day without even a goodbye.
