After spending a couple of hours with the other members, Rae's cheek muscles were sore from the constant laughter and smile they had plastered on her face. With a heartfelt departure, and the promise of seeing them all again soon, Min dropped Rae off at her apartment. An apartment that felt like hers, but had significant changes since she had visited last.
Rae did her best not to appear unsettled when she observed the security guards in the parking lot of her apartment complex, but she couldn't help raising an eyebrow at Min when she noticed the one stationed outside her front door. He offered a sheepish smile, his hands up in defense as she stared at him.
"It's just a precaution. I promised to protect you and Ji-Sun, and if you won't sleep at my apartment tonight..." Min inclined his head, waiting for Rae to confirm if that was truly her decision, and she gave a curt nod. Min pouted for only a second before he exchanged a look of understanding to Rae. "Then this will at least give me some peace of mind."
Rae let out a short sigh, noting the rigid, stone faced bodyguard that was privy to their entire conversation. Rae gave a tense smile as she motioned to the door.
"I understand," she assured Min. "I am grateful you are taking additional measures to keep me, and Ji-Sun safe. Thank you," she whispered.
Min offered a soft smile as he leaned in to place a light kiss on Rae's forehead, to suddenly jump back as the door he had rested a hand on was flung widely open, making Min stumble into Rae. Rae caught him in her arms, steadying him upright as they both took a step off the threshold to face Rae's best friend.
Ji-Sun had a wild look in her eyes as she roamed over the scene taking place on her doorstep. Her bright red lipstick and adorable high pigtails were a deceptive distraction to the wicked smile that spread across her lips. She placed a bored expression on her face as she cocked her head to the side, her eyes flitting between Rae and Min. She loudly chewed on the bubblegum in her mouth, folding her arms across her chest, leaning into the doorway as she spoke. "Welcome home, Rae-Bae," she pointed her chin in Min's direction, "and Rae-Bae's babe," she teased, her eyebrows raising up and down as she looked at him. Her smile grew wider as she noticed Min tense at the interaction, and her next words were not a statement or a request, but a demand. "We have a lot to catch up on."
***************
The day had arrived. The day Rae new she inevitably had to face, she just didn't imagine it being so soon. The day Ji-Sun met Min.
Rae didn't know what she had expected of Ji-Sun with bringing Min home, but she immediately regretted not discussing it with Ji-Sun ahead of time. Not allowing Min to escape, after brief introductions and small talk, Ji-Sun insisted he come in for some coffee before he went home - Ji-Sun eager to jump at the opportunity to corner Rae's new boyfriend, and hide her real intentions of learning about an idol she was deeply a fan of.
Rae felt her heart skip a beat as she took in Min and all of his beauty, sitting in their humble living room, doing a fair job of looking comfortable as he observed his new surroundings. The grey sweater he wore brought out a warmth to Min, softening the edge in his eyes, complimenting his long eyelashes and his silk black hair. Rae still couldn't fathom that he was hers, and she was his. How a fallen angel had found and claimed her, and how she never wanted him to take it back.
Ji-Sun snapped Rae from her stupor, grabbing back Rae's attention to the situation at hand. Ji-Sun displayed the epitome of innocence as she shuffled about the kitchen, humming and plating some snacks that she proudly presented to the two of us, setting them on coffee table.
