Five.

Rae's thoughts had been in another place all morning, Ji-Sun's words replaying in her mind. She had done her best to retain her focus with her first two patients, but she wasn't as present as she wanted to be. She was distracted, and the distraction only worsened when Rae's phone buzzed on the way to her car.

NIM: I HAD TO LEAVE. THE DOOR IS OPEN FOR YOU. YOU CAN WALK IN WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

Rae's anticipation and anxiety arriving at UN Village was prominent. She was always collected and put together with her personal and professional life, but she was especially such with her patients. Working never left her unsettled, in fact, it was her sanctuary, the thing she could throw herself into and know she would do it well.
The uncertainty and lack of confidence visiting Yoongi was inciting in Rae made her panic, and Rae never panicked. It wasn't like herself, and when she didn't recognize herself, she always had a habit of running. But where would she run? She didn't know how she could get out of this situation, not smoothly anyway.

Entering Yoongi's apartment, Rae was greeted by an unexpected visitor. A tiny, curly, chestnut brown poodle came waddling up to meet her, the dog's tail wagging happily as it let out an excited whine.

Rae bent down, offering out her right hand, and the dog willingly approached, letting Rae scratch her soft ears. Rae suddenly remember that Nim had mentioned he had to pick up Yoongi's dog from the groomer yesterday. Rae hadn't expected Yoongi's dog of choice to be such an adorable, tiny, cuddly breed, but images of Suga flashed through her mind and it suddenly made sense.
Rae gently grabbed the name tag hanging on the dogs light purple collar.

"Holly," Rae read outloud, offering the dog a
smile, while Holly huffed in response. "Where is your Daddy?" Rae whispered, scooping up Holly into her arms.

"Holly! Illu wa!" Come here. Yoongi's voice rang out somewhere in the apartment and the sound of it sent chills down Rae's spine. Holly struggled in Rae's arms, eager to respond to Yoongi's call. Rae put him down, and followed Holly's footsteps to his owner.

Rae was surprised to see Holly shuffle through the living room, past the dining room, and into the kitchen. When Rae came around the corner, her stomach dropped.

Yoongi was standing at the counter, wearing the same clothes as he had the day before, his hands awkwardly hovering over a plate as he did his best to peel a tangerine with his one free hand, while the hand in his sling was trying to stabilize the fruit.

Rae put her tote on the counter and rushed to Yoongi's side, trying to take the tangerine from his hand. Yoongi didn't have the tallest build, but compared to Rae, who was only 5'2 and petite , Yoongi towered over her.

Yoongi's eyes remained glued to the counter as he abruptly brushed Rae's hand out of the way, his arm holding the tangerine out of her reach, as if he was protecting it at all costs from her thieving grasp. His burning gaze seared into hers, his dark eyes framed by his thin silver glasses. Rae hadn't noticed that he wore glasses the day before, but the accessory left Yoongi with a sophisticated look that made Rae's stomach flip.

Snapping Rae out of her stupor, Yoongi shifted a couple inches away from her, his expression one of distaste. Yoongi's abrupt reaction left Rae stunned. She brushed her hands together in nervousness as he slowly returned the tangerine to his plate, his eyes never leaving her face. The tension in Rae's stomach only increased when Yoongi scoffed at her.

"Digug-indeul-eun maeneoleul baeuji anhnayo?" Do Americans not learn manners?

Rae's eyes fell in embarrassment. She wanted to blurt out that she understood him perfectly. She was eager to explain that her reaction was only out of worry that he would hurt his injured arm, and that she had wanted to help, but the comment felt like a reprimand, and the perfectionist she was meant Rae didn't do well with criticism; it always made her shut down.
