Rae did her best to hide the astonishment on her face. Rae's thoughts were jumbled with disorder as she tried to decipher the directions of her mind from her heart.

Her thoughts were telling her how irrational it would be to say yes. She needed to consider details before jumping into something with Min, and she needed time to figure those things out. But her heart denied the artificial need to justify her feelings with logic. Her heart communicated her answer simply - she liked Min. She wanted to explore things with him. She wanted to say yes.

Rae took a deep breath as she observed Min's collected face, his confidence pouring over and lending a bit of it to her.

"If I say yes..." Rae's voice trailed off as she began to say her thoughts out loud.

Min leaned forward, his eyes sincere as he flashed his perfect, gummy smile. "You won't regret saying yes to me. I promise," his voice low and unfeigned.

Rae got chills as she looked at the dark angel sitting in front of her. Something about Min and his promises felt indestructible. He spoke with such certainty, and she could feel the weight of his sincerity whenever he made a promise.

Just as Min had said it, Rae knew it too - she knew she wouldn't regret it, and she knew she couldn't deny him. Rae shuddered as she answered, swallowing back every nerve or warning and surrendering to her impulses. Rae said yes.

_______________

Rae groaned at the deafening, pestering sound of her alarm blaring on her nightstand. With her hand over her eyes to shut out the light streaming through her window, Rae's hand fumbled to press the snooze button. But Rae was unpleasantly surprised by feeling something out of the ordinary. Rae hazily peeked through her fingers and screamed in surprise.

Ji-Sun was sitting on the edge of Rae's bed, her black hair perfectly slicked back in a high pony tail, her scrubs clean and perfectly pressed, and her red fingernails that matched her lipstick were tapping against her folded arms with impatience.

Even though Rae had identified the intruder, her heart rate was still trying to process the shock of her friend looming over her as she slept. Holding her hand over her heart, Rae sat up, running a stressed hand through her hair.

"Ji-Sun!" Rae hissed, pulling up her bed covers to cover her shoulders. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

Ji-Sun raised an eyebrow at Rae, her lips pressed together in a sassy pout. "Don't come firing at me, I'm not the one who is in trouble this morning."

Rae rubbed her eyes and sighed - she desperately wanted to go back to sleep, especially if it meant avoiding whatever conversation Ji-Sun wanted to unpack.

"What did I do?" Rae mandatorily asked.

Ji-Sun huffed. "You. Muted. Me." Ji-Sun held back fake tears as she jutted out her chin toward the ceiling, doing her best to emphasize her hurt at Rae's horrendous sin.

Rae moaned as she ruffled her hair and hit her cheeks, trying to get herself to wake up enough to tackle the conversation.

"Ji-Sun, you know I wasn't trying to offend you."

Ji-Sun threw her hands in the air in defeat. "We don't silence each other, Rae! That isn't what best friends do! I felt so excluded-"

"He asked me to be his girlfriend last night, and I said yes," Rae blurted out, knowing exactly what it would do to Ji-Sun, and Rae had been correct.

Ji-Sun froze, her head snapping to look at Rae, her mouth gaping and her eyes slowly blinking as she processed the outburst. Ji-Sun shook her head quickly, snapping herself out of her stunned state.
