After Rae had cleaned up the rest of the dishes and got out her supplies for Min's physical therapy, she waited on the couch with the hum of the shower in the distance. After a few minutes, Rae became antsy being alone.
Rae wandered down the hall and noticed the door was left open to the recording room. Rae walked into the dimly lit studio, the room exactly the same as it was the last time she had been in it. The only difference was a copy of sheet music that was sitting on the couch, and Rae recognized it was a rough draft of the song Min had shown her.
Rae recalled the conversation with Min, and how he expressed he wanted to put the song to acoustics and play it with the guitar once his arm healed. Rae was excited at the thought of hearing him play an instrument. She was already impressed by his production skills at the computer, and how humble he was regarding his talent. She knew watching him sing and play an instrument live would bring an entirely different feeling to her heart, one that she wasn't prepared for.
Rae poked her head out into the hallway, the sound of the shower still pulsing through the walls. Rae didn't know how much longer Min would be, but her curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to hear what his song would sound like if it could be played the way Min wanted it to be played.
Rae carefully took the guitar off the wall and took a seat on the black sofa, propping up the instrument on her legs as she read the sheet music and the title at the top of the paper.
LIFE GOES ON ACOUSTIC VER.
Rae was from Montana. She was a country girl at heart. Her father had played guitar her entire life, and he had taught both her and her brother how to play. Rae could read music easily, but she had gotten even better at playing her favorite songs by ear. She hadn't brought her guitar to Korea, so it had been over two years since she had played, but the instrument felt like home when she gave it a soft strum.
Rae began to timidly play the instrument, focusing and following each line of notes, humming the song to herself as she went. Rae got chills when she approached the chorus. Min had been right; the acoustic version was even better than the original. Rae felt pleasantly lost in her own world as she played her favorite instrument, the feeling of the vibration of the strings sending a thrill through her that she had missed.
Rae had become so engrossed that she jumped back in surprise as she noticed two bare feet standing in front of her. Rae looked up from the sheet music, her eyes falling on a sopping-wet Min.
Min's long hair was drenched and falling into his eyes, his cheeks flushed bright red from his hot shower. Small bits of water droplets were still visible on his porcelain skin, leaving sparkling trails along his face, chest, and arms, the only item of clothing on his slender body was a pair of black sweat shorts. His dark eyes were intense and serious as he looked at Rae, who was now clenching the guitar from nerves as she tried not to divert her eyes from his face. The temptation to look at his beautiful figure was savagely eating away at her.
Min's mouth gaped a bit as he stared at Rae in awe. "You never told me you play guitar," he marveled at her.
Rae wriggled under Min's admiring stare. "You never asked."
Rae felt shy at his observation, and his urgency to catch her in the act, not even bothering to fully dry off to find the source of the sound. He had superb hearing. Rae knew she had been playing quietly, and she assumed the sound of the water running would drown out anything from the recording room.
Min raised his eyebrows, a small smirk crossing his face. "You're right, I didn't. I won't make that mistake again. Be prepared for twenty questions later," he winked. Min took a seat next to her, his uninjured hand holding the music for her to see. "Don't stop, I want to hear more," Min commanded in his deep voice.
