When You Were Involved in One of Their Fights.

It was an ordinary day, or so you thought. You were on your way to meet your best friend, Rina, and her boyfriend, Heeseung. The three of you often hung out together, but today felt different. You couldn't shake off the nervous feeling in your stomach.

As you approached Rina's apartment, you heard raised voices coming from inside. Your curiosity got the best of you, and you hesitated at the door, listening to the heated conversation.

"Heeseung, it's not what you think!" Rina's voice was desperate.

"Not what I think?" Heeseung's voice was filled with hurt and anger. "I found another guy's boxers in your room and saw the messages from him! How could you do this to me?"

Your heart sank. You had suspected Rina of being unfaithful, but you hadn't expected this. Taking a deep breath, you knocked on the door and walked in, hoping to diffuse the situation."Hey, guys. What's going on?" you asked, trying to keep your voice calm.

Both Rina and Heeseung turned to look at you. Rina's face was flushed with guilt, while Heeseung's was a mix of anger and sadness.

"It's nothing," Rina said quickly, avoiding your gaze. "Just a misunderstanding."

Heeseung shook his head, looking at you with pained eyes. "She cheated on me," he said bluntly.

You looked at Rina, feeling both vindicated and saddened by the situation. "Rina, is this true?" you asked, your voice trembling.

Rina's eyes filled with tears as she nodded. "Yes, but it was a mistake. I didn't mean to hurt him."

Heeseung let out a bitter laugh. "A mistake? You betrayed me, Rina. How am I supposed to trust you after this?"

You stepped closer to Heeseung, wanting to comfort him but unsure how. Before you could say anything, Rina, noticing the closeness between you and Heeseung, suddenly snapped.

"Oh, please, don't act all innocent," she spat. "You've had a massive crush on Heeseung for ages. You're probably happy this happened!"

Your face turned bright red, and you took a step back, feeling exposed and embarrassed. "What are you talking about?" you stammered.

Rina scoffed. "Don't pretend. I've seen the way you look at him. You've always wanted him for yourself."

Heeseung looked at you in surprise. "Is that true?" he asked quietly.

You couldn't meet his eyes, feeling the weight of the situation crashing down on you. You stuttered, unable to form a coherent response, and then turned and left the apartment without another word. The embarrassment and guilt were too much to bear.

As the door closed behind you, you heard Heeseung's voice, filled with frustration. "Rina, how could you do this? You've lost one of the most important people in my life."

You walked away, tears streaming down your face. The betrayal of your best friend and the revelation of your feelings for Heeseung left you feeling raw and exposed.

Later that evening, your phone buzzed with a message from Heeseung.

"Can we meet? Near the lake?"

You hesitated, then replied with a simple "Okay."

When you arrived at the lake, Heeseung was already there, looking lost in thought. The setting sun cast a warm glow over the water, creating a serene atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the turmoil in your heart.

"Hey," you greeted him nervously.

He looked up and gave you a small smile. "Hey."

You stood there, waiting for him to speak. After a moment, he took a deep breath. "I ended things with Rina," he said quietly.

You nodded, unsure what to say. "I'm sorry you had to go through that," you managed to say, not wanting to apologize for something that wasn't your fault.

Heeseung shook his head. "It's not your fault. She made her choices, and I need to move on. But there's something else I need to talk to you about."

You looked at him, your heart pounding. "What is it?"

Heeseung reached out, gently taking your hand in his. "I can't stop thinking about what Rina said. About your feelings for me."

You blushed, feeling exposed all over again. "Heeseung, I never wanted to complicate things. I just... I couldn't help how I felt. I liked you from the day we met, but I buried those feelings because I knew Rina was dating you."

He squeezed your hand gently. "I understand. And honestly, knowing how you feel has made me realize something. I've always felt a connection with you, but I never allowed myself to think about it too much because of Rina. But now... I want to continue our friendship and see where things go."

You looked at him, your eyes wide with surprise. "Are you sure? I don't want you to feel pressured because of everything that's happened."

Heeseung smiled softly. "I'm sure. Let's take things slow and see how our friendship evolves. But I want you to know that I care about you, a lot."

And in that moment, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the lake and the warmth of Heeseung's presence, you felt a spark of hope for the future. Despite the pain and betrayal, there was a chance for something new and beautiful to blossom between you and Heeseung, even if it began as just a strong friendship.
