When you get a nightmare.

You shoot upright in bed, heart pounding and breath ragged. The nightmare's grip lingers, leaving you feeling unsettled and scared. You glance at Heeseung, who is still peacefully asleep beside you, and carefully slip out of bed, not wanting to disturb him. Quietly, you make your way out of the bedroom, needing to calm yourself down.

In the kitchen, you pour yourself a glass of water, hoping it will help soothe your racing heart. But the dream's haunting words echo in your mind, making it impossible to shake off the fear and sadness.

"You're not good enough,"
"You should die,"
"You'll never be perfect,"
the voices from the nightmare taunt you relentlessly.

Tears begin to well up in your eyes, and you sit down on the floor in the corner of the room, hugging your knees tightly to your chest. The sobs you've been holding back finally break free, and you bury your face in your arms, letting the tears flow.

Back in the bedroom, Heeseung stirs and instinctively reaches out for you, only to find your side of the bed empty. Concern washes over him as he sits up, scanning the dimly lit room. He quickly gets out of bed and searches everywhere, his worry growing with each passing second.

He follows a faint sound of quiet sobs, leading him to the kitchen. There, he sees you, curled up on the floor, trembling with each sob that wracks your body. His heart aches at the sight, and he quickly crosses the room, kneeling down beside you.

"Hey," he says softly, reaching out to gently touch your shoulder. "What's wrong?"

You lift your tear-streaked face to meet his concerned eyes, and the floodgates open even more. "I... I had a nightmare," you manage to choke out between sobs. "They were telling me I'm not good enough... that I should die... that I'll never be perfect."

Heeseung's expression softens, and he immediately pulls you into his arms, holding you tightly. "Shh, it's okay. It was just a dream," he murmurs soothingly, stroking your hair. "None of that is true. You're more than enough, and you mean everything to me."

You cling to him, feeling the warmth and comfort of his embrace begin to ease the pain from the nightmare. His presence is a soothing balm to your wounded spirit, and slowly, your sobs start to subside.

"I'm so sorry for waking you," you whisper, still feeling a bit guilty for disturbing his sleep.

Heeseung pulls back just enough to look into your eyes, his hands cupping your face gently. "Don't apologize. I'm glad you woke me. I want to be here for you, especially when you're hurting." His thumb brushes away your tears, and his gaze is filled with love and concern. "You're perfect to me, just as you are."

His words bring a fresh wave of tears, but this time they're mixed with gratitude and relief. You nod, trying to absorb the truth of his words, letting them replace the cruel voices from your nightmare.

Heeseung helps you up and guides you back to the bedroom. Once you're both settled back in bed, he wraps his arms around you, holding you close. "I'll always be here for you," he whispers, his breath warm against your ear. "You're never alone."

Feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against your back, you finally start to relax. The terror of the nightmare begins to fade, replaced by the comforting reality of Heeseung's love and support. With his arms around you, you feel safe and cherished, and soon, you drift back to sleep, knowing that he'll be there to protect you from any more bad dreams.

But as the night goes on, the nightmare returns, more vivid and terrifying than before. The voices are louder, more insistent, and the scenes are even more horrifying. You're trapped in a dark, endless void, surrounded by faceless figures who chant cruel taunts, their words piercing your soul. "You're worthless," they sneer. "You should never have been born."

You wake up again, gasping for air, tears streaming down your face. Heeseung wakes immediately this time, feeling your distress. He pulls you into his arms, his embrace tight and reassuring.

"It's okay, I'm here," he whispers, his voice a steady anchor in the storm of your fear.

"The nightmare came back," you sob into his chest, your body trembling. "It was worse... so much worse."

Heeseung holds you even tighter, rocking you gently. "I'm so sorry, baby. But I'm right here. I won't let anything happen to you. You're safe with me."

You bury your face in his chest, letting his warmth and the sound of his heartbeat ground you. Heeseung continues to murmur soothing words, his hand running through your hair, trying to comfort you as much as he can.

"Let's try something," he says softly after a few moments. "Think about something happy, something that makes you feel safe and loved. Focus on that instead."

You nod, trying to push the nightmare aside and think of better things. You picture a sunny day at the beach with Heeseung, the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand between your toes, and his laughter filling the air. Slowly, the nightmare's grip loosens, and the comforting image takes its place.

Heeseung continues to hold you, his presence a constant reminder that you're not alone. "We'll get through this together," he promises, his voice filled with determination. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

As the night stretches on, Heeseung stays awake, his arms around you, protecting you from the nightmares. His love and support are a beacon of hope, guiding you through the darkness. And with him by your side, you know you can face whatever comes, because you are enough, and you are loved.
