POV: Evane
I haven't ever felt so relaxed and content after sleeping.
Addie's scent put me at so much ease that I slept like a baby through till morning and I still feel relaxed even after waking up.
I turn my head, expecting to find her still asleep and snuggled under her sheets but I find her fully awake and sat up, leaning back against the headboard just watching me as I stir from my sleep.
"You're up?" I groan, rolling over and putting my arm over her lap to hug her waist, moving myself closer to ensure I can only smell her potent natural perfume.
"Mhm. For the past few hours," she hums. "Your voice is really deep."
I chuckle through my nose at the comment. I barely notice how much deeper my voice is in the morning anymore but I've always been quite awake before speaking to her in the morning so it had always faded before she heard my voice.
"Why are you up so early?" I grumble, hugging her waist tighter to pull her closer.
"I just woke up early. There wasn't any other reason. You were hugging me so I didn't want to wake you and decided to just braid your hair," she says with a smile, lifting part of my hair to show me the braids she made.
"They're very pretty, Addie."
"Now that you're awake-"
"Please don't kick me out," I whine, hugging her waist even tighter.
"I'm not going to, Evane. I want you to stay a little longer," she assures me. "You can stay in bed a little longer. I'm going to take a shower."
I give her my softest eyes, not that I think they're very good, trying to get her to stay a little longer so that I can savour this for a few more minutes. I never want this to end.
"I need to shower, Evane. And no, you cannot join me," she adds when she sees the hope in my eyes. "If you don't mind, could you maybe make some breakfast?"
"Of course. Any special requests?" I murmur, still snuggling with her and never letting go.
"Whatever you can make from the limited food I have stocked in my kitchen. I'm not a very good cook so I don't have much for you to use really."
I assure her I can make something from whatever she has, whining when she starts moving to get out of bed. My behaviour earns a chuckle from her, Addie running her hand over my hair to settle me but I still don't want to release her.
"Is being mates making you more clingy?"
"No. I just want you to stay a while longer in bed with me. I haven't seen you for over a year."
She reminds me she needs to shower again, softly prying my arm off of her so she can slip out from under the sheets, walking around her bed, Bambi following at her heels like he did when he was a puppy.
I missed the sight of her with her dog at her heels. It's such a familiar one that I haven't seen in so long. I'm surprised Bambi still trails behind her like he used after a year of being her pet. He isn't a puppy anymore but it's still cute to see again.
