| Y/N's POV | A/N: ftr's of this book r so funny, their reactions never get old. I'm also pretty sure more ppl r reading my books bc of the new season of Wednesday 😩🤚🏻
Jenna was starting to feel better. Somewhat. She still immensely clung to me. I had to go to the bathroom but was stopped mid-pee by her faint cries from the other side of the door.
I never complain when she's like this — I actually love it. I rarely get this; the vulnerable, needy, afraid-to-lose-me side of her. And whenever she showed it, I took full advantage to enjoy it.
"Baby." She whined for the tenth time, back arching, a tissue stuffed up her nose, red eyes squeezed shut. "Need pillow, please."
"Okay, love. Hold on." I grabbed a back up pillow from the hall closet just outside our door, quickly returning and gently lifting Jenna's head and placing it underneath. "That better?"
"Mhm." Jenna muffled out, pulling the blanket over half of her face, only leaving her mouth and below covered. "M'hungry."
I chuckled, feeling a little sweat pool on her forehead. "What do you want, baby?"
"Soup." She croaked out. Then the puppy dog eyes came. "Please."
"Of course. How can I say no? Hmm?" I pushed her hair back and went downstairs to prepare her soup. Some simple Top Ramen always work for her, specifically the soy sauce flavor. So I boiled some water, poured the noodles in, cooked them for three minutes, stirred in the seasoning, and poured it into a bowl for it. I had to place at least two ice cubes inside for it to cool off.
She will cry if it's too hot.
I came back within six minutes to see Jenna sitting up, Daisy in my spot on the bed, her head tucked in Jenna's lap. "Mommy's back." She whispered to Daisy, glancing at me with a smile. "Hi, mommy." She playfully smiled.
"Someone's feeling better." I rolled my eyes, smiling and placing a food tray over her lap when Daisy slightly moved. I put the soup on the tray, kissing her forehead. "Your temperature is going back to normal."
"M'feeling better." She whispered, blowing on her soap slightly and taking a bite. "Cuddle." She patted the spot beside her.
Smiling, I crawled in bed with her, wrapping my arms around her. She laid her head on my shoulder, eating her soup carefully without making a mess. Eventually, when Jenna was halfway done, she began to fall asleep.
"Shhh, stay awake for me." I cooed gently, brushing my fingers against her face. "Let me take care of your soup then I'll be back to rock you to sleep, okay?"
"M'kay." She barely mumbled.
I did my rounds quickly. Walked downstairs, dumped the rest of her soup, washed the dish, turned all the lights off and came back upstairs with some medicine in hand. Jenna was having a hard time keeping her eyes open so I made sure to feed her the medicine first and foremost.
She grimaced at the taste — but never gagged or puked it back up like she did a couple days ago. I remove the tray from her lap, watching my wife slowly sway side to side in exhaustion.
Finally, I sat beside her again. Jenna's head immediately fell into my lap. She made herself comfy, burying her nose where my thigh was, keeping her hands firmly against my torso. I just simply ran my fingers through her hair until she fell asleep.
—————
Jenna slept for six hours.
I was bored out of my mind. Some random show was playing on the tv — I couldn't bother to pay attention — and Daisy was sleeping on her back, belly up in her bed. I was tracing shapes on Jenna's bare arm.
Slowly, but steadily, she stirred awake. Jenna's eyes blinked up — dazed and confused, she stared at me. "Hiiii."
Oh my, she's so cute.
"Hi, sweet girl. You okay?"
"Mhm." Jenna nodded, sitting up with a smile and stretching her arms like a cat. "I missed you."
"I've been here." I laughed a little, caressing her face.
"M'yeah, but I still missed you." She pawed up like a cat, pulling me down for a sweet hug.
I kissed her cheek. "Of course you did. I missed you too. It's pretty boring."
She giggled. "I'm your prime time entertainment."
"Yes, you are."
Jenna sniffled, rubbing her eyes with the back of her sleeve — that stupid long sleeve I bought her a year ago with a cartoon pug on it. It started as a joke, but eventually, she started wearing it every time she got cold. Like it was her prized posession — which she seemingly does with everything I give her.
"I love you. Thank you for taking care of me. I'd be so miserable without you." Jenna whispered, eyes opening and closing.
"If you didn't have me, your mom would care for you." I waved off.
"Yeah, but she wouldn't cuddle me the way you do. She's a nurse, she knows that being so close in proximity causes her to get sick too."
"She's correct about that." I held her close against my chest. "But, I don't care. As long as you're happy and healing."
"Cuddles make me feel better." She muffled out again. "Can I go to sleep again?"
"Yeah, of course, baby." I kissed the top of her head a couple of times, pulling her to lay on top of me. I shut the lamp off, turning the tv volume down. "I'll sleep with you."
"Mhmf." Everything came out coherent and smushed together. I laughed a little, just soothing her to sleep until I was finally able too as well.
