| Y/N's POV | A/N: I've ultimately decided that since this book is basically 30 chapters away from 200, I will just write it completely out. sequels I am still unsure of, but I will be carrying this book out to chapter 200. you're welcome ☺️
By the next morning, Jenna woke up with a fever. 99 degrees. I pulled the thermometer out of her mouth, pressing my hand against her forehead. She was hot, skin damped with sweat, paler than our white walls.
"I'm not sick." She sniffled out, voice hoarse from her sore throat and her stuffy nose.
"You definitely are." I hummed. "I'm going to ask your mom and see if she can take care of Juno till you're better."
"No, no. My baby girl, I want her." Jenna attempted to leave the bed, but I pushed her back down.
"Absolutely not. She's almost one now, you can't get her sick, that would be bad." I hit her with the facts, making her huff with a huge pout on her lips. "You'll see her when you're better." I mentioned as I texted Natalie.
"I don't want to be bedridden." Jenna coughed, pulling the inside of her elbow to her mouth.
"Too bad. You have premiers and promo coming up, we need you to be better for it, okay?" I brushed her hair back. Natalie responded with many hearts, wishing her daughter all the best in her wellness and said she's happy to take her granddaughter for about a week. Just to be safe.
I got straight to packing everything up for Juno. Because I can't be there to breastfeed, I had bottles stored away in a cold lunch box for Natalie. It's easy access and enough for her feedings this week. And if she ever needed more, she could just stop by.
While Jenna whined helplessly from our bedroom, I sat in Juno's rocking chair, feeding her before she left, just so she wasn't cranky for her grandma. Then I changed her diaper, dressing her in a flowery onesie.
She was all set and ready in her baby carrier, chewing on her own hands while she waited. I pressed a kiss to her forehead before placing a mask on my face, walking back to where my wife was.
"Baby! Come back! I need you!" Jenna restlessly yelled, tears streaming down her face with whimpers and whines escaping her mouth. Until I entered the room, she quieted down. "Where'd you go?"
"To take care of our daughter." I playfully smiled. Jenna sniffled. "Why were you crying, baby, hmm?"
"Because you left me." Her doe eyes gazed into mine, tears glazing in them.
I forget how clingy she is when she's sick.
"Okay, I won't leave you anymore." I promised, stroking her cheek and wiping the tears away. Then the doorbell rang. "But I do need to give Juno to your mom so I'll be right back."
She whimpered and watched me leave. I gently grabbed Juno, and her bag, and headed downstairs. I opened the door to see Natalie and Aliyah standing on my front porch. I brought them in for a hug. "How are you guys doing?"
"We're good. Jenna has a fever though, I need to take care of her."
"BABY!" Jenna screamed from upstairs, voice breaking and desperate. Her mom and sister glanced at me, I sighed softly.
"My clingy wife is calling for me." They both laughed, I hugged them once again, kissing Juno's head. "Thank you so much for this, I really do appreciate it."
With that, they left the front door and I was left to arise back upstairs to my crying girl. She stopped when she saw me walking in, giving me a pout. "You. Left. I'm. Mad."
"No, you're not." I whispered, coming towards her and cupping her face softly.
She sighed against my palm. "M'not."
"You're so clingy, so needy." I said, no judgement nor hate. And she knew that. There was a softness to my tone, love too. "I'll take care of you."
"I know." Jenna whispered, relaxing back against the bed.
"I'm going to get you some tea, and medicine. Do I have permission to leave the room?" I teased her a little.
She smiled. "Yes, ma'am, you have my permission."
With that, I trotted downstairs to the kitchen. I placed a tea kettle on the stove with water boiling inside it. I grabbed a lemon herbal tea packet and placed it on the counter.
Searching the cupboards, I found some Benadryl. I know it won't bring her fever down, but it will regulate her cold symptoms like her nose, coughing, and throat. Plus it'll knock her ass out instantly which is what she needs.
The tea kettle whistled when it was done. With careful, steady hands, I poured the water into a mug, setting the packet inside. I let it sit there for two minutes before tossing it in the trash. Then I stirred the tea, softly blowing on it so it wasn't extremely hot.
I strolled back upstairs, pushing open the bedroom door to see Jenna watching Phineas and Ferb. "When I was on Disney," she started, I took a seat on the edge of the seat beside her. "I used to watch this show all the time during my breaks."
"That Disney job will always be a part of you." I mumbled, placing a damp towel on her forehead, pulling a thin, light weighted blanket over her shaking body. "Open your mouth for me."
Jenna complied easily, I took the medicine cup and poured the liquid down her throat. She swallowed it, scrunching her face up but never rejecting the medicine from her body. Then I helped her drink her tea by using a straw. She took a couple of sips and laid back down.
"Anything else, baby?" I asked, rubbing her arm.
"Cuddles." She mumbled.
"I don't want to get sick, love."
"Cuddles. Please." Tears formed in her eyes. I smiled a little, sighing under my breath. She's lucky she's cute.
I finally crawled into bed with her. Her arms immediately wrapped around my waist, pulling my leg over her hip forcefully and stuffing her face in my chest. "Comfy?" I squinted my eyes at her playfully.
"Mhm." She drowsily mumbled. I knew the medicine was already kicking in so I turned down the volume on the tv, and held her closer to me.
I'll more than likely end up getting sick too, but it's worth it if she's happy and content in my arms. It'll only speed up her recovery.
