"I'M STREEEEEEEESSED!" I heard Caseoh scream through the tv as Jenna and Billie lounged on the couch watching him play Waterpark Simulator.
Billie chuckled, eyes drifting from the screen to my baby in her lap. She was gently bouncing her up and down on her knee, smiling when Juno babbled or chewed on her hand as if it was the most delicious food she's ever had.
Jenna wore a black beanie, her black hair dropping down from under it. Billie recently gifted her Pro Club sweats and let me tell you, she hasn't stopped wearing them. She's wearing the grey ones right now, complimented by a green hoodie.
I walked up to where she was, wrapping my arms around her from behind. I kissed her cheek. "What are we feeling for lunch, hmm?"
"Peanut butter and jelly." Billie blurted. I playfully rolled my eyes in a I know manner.
"I'm pretty sure we have leftover tamales, no?" Jenna asked, tilting her head up.
"Mhm." I nodded. "I'll reheat them for you then and make a sandwich for Bil." I started walking towards the kitchen.
"PB&J!" She yelled.
"I know!"
—————
The air was fresh outside, that morning green flowing through my hair. I leaned my arms against the windowsill, admiring the view of the glistening ocean as it crashed against the shore.
Jenna rented this beach house for the three of us. We needed a little time to get away before she's swept up in interviews and conferences and premiers for Wednesday Season 2.
Juno was rolling on the bed, pacifier in mouth, wrapped up in a flower onesie. Jenna was snoring away. It was one of those moments, rare ones, where she can sleep in as late as she wants. I just pulled the blanket up higher over her body and walked into the kitchen with Juno resting on my hip.
We prepaid for some groceries yesterday. Eating out is nice until it starts to become too much and you miss home cooked meals.
I came up with the idea to make some breakfast for everyone. Juno is reaching tbat stage where she can have food that we have, but it has to be mashed up. So oatmeal is a good start for her.
I started with pouring the packet in water and then heating it up in the microwave for her. Then I began with Jenna's food. Sometimes when she wakes up right away, she's not the hungriest and that's okay.
So breakfast today will be light.
By the time I was done, Juno sat in her high chair, making a huge mess with her oatmeal. I simply kissed the top of her head, making my way to the bedroom to wake Jenna up.
I laid behind her, wrapping my arm around her waist. My hand slid up her shirt, caressing the smooth, cold skin underneath. Jenna shivered from my touch. She slowly stirred away, turning towards me and blinking the sleepiness away.
"Hi, baby." I said sweetly, pulling her close to me.
Jenna didn't say anything—eyes lazily dropping as she snuggled against my chest. I heard a muffled 'mhmmm' vibrate against me. I laughed softly, allowing my fingers to comb through her hair. "Time to get up, honey. I made you breakfast."
I don't know what she said but it varied between "this is why I married you" and "only my girl treat me this well."
Inevitably, she rolled out of bed. Jenna didn't bother putting clothes in, she was probably freezing in her boxers and shirt. However, Jenna did put socks on. I doubt it'll help.
She sat at the kitchen island, quietly munching on the breakfast I prepped for her. Occasionally she'd be silly with Juno or feed her to oatmeal to prevent an even bigger mess.
I wrapped my arms around her neck from behind. "What are we doing today, hmm?"
"I dunno." Jenna shrugged lazily. "Maybe we just let the universe decide."
I kissed her cheek, like I agreed with her.
And somehow, we ended up getting properly dressed. I wore jeans and one of the warmest hoodies I could scavenge from Jenna's suitcase. Meanwhile, my wife wore grey sweats and an open red jacket, a white tee underneath that highlighted perfectly with those white converse. Then she dressed Juno with a little sweater that had pandas on it.
We set out with Juno in her stroller. It was a peaceful walk down from the hill where the beach house sat upon. The clouds hovered over the sky, creating a darker forecast. The waves crashed in the distance, it smelled of sea water, and a light breeze flew past us.
We walked on this stone path made of pebbles and other rocks. I hooked my arm through Jenna's, letting myself be close to her. We walked for 20 minutes before stopping to sit down at these benches near a waterfall.
Jenna pushed the stroller back and forth, playing peek-a-boo with Juno. I smiled until she stopped doing it, turning her head to me. "I'm gonna miss this." She whispered.
"Me too." I replied back. My hand met her arm, rubbing it softly through the fabric of her clothes.
"I hate being away. I feel like I miss so much." Jenna was mentally kicking herself.
"Hey, hey." I gently picked her head up. "It's okay. You love her. She knows that, I know that, you know that. You won't be gone forever, it'll be barely a month or two." Jenna rested her head in my chest, letting me play with the baby hairs on her neck. "Besides, I'll go on tour eventually for my album. We're both just busy with that other part of our lives."
Jenna sighed softly. "You're right. Thank you, baby. I love you."
"I love you the most." I kissed her forehead. "Just know, no matter how long or far you're away, we know you always make time for us."
