We've been staying with our Abuela these past few days due to the earthquake and school being out. Well, she's been staying with us. I've spent most of the day sleeping, I'm still sore from the lockers falling and I'm also just tired.

I get up out of my bed around 11 AM. I woke up at 8 but I've just been laying in bed since. I walk out and see the front door open. "Where's Abuela?" I ask Chris as he sits on the couch. "She took the trash out." Chris says with a big smile. I smile at him before walking outside.

"Oh my god! Abuela!" I say, rushing down to her. She's on the ground. "911." She says quietly. I run back into the house and grab my phone before running back out. I dial 911 and put the phone up to my ear.

"911, what's your emergency??" The dispatcher asks. "My Abuela. She fell." I say. "Okay. Where do you live, sweetie?" The dispatcher asks as I hear her type on a keyboard. I tell her my address. "Okay. And what's your name?" The dispatcher asks. "Lydia Diaz." I say.

"Okay. You're doing good, sweetie. Help is on the way." The woman says.

The ambulance pulls up and I quickly thank the dispatcher before hanging up. "Do you have someone you can call?" One of the paramedics ask. "Yes ma'am." I say, pulling out my phone and dialing Aunt Pepa's number.

"Hello?" She says over the phone. "Hey. Abuela fell. They're taking her to the hospital." I say. "Oh my gosh. Okay. I'm on my way." Aunt Pepa says. "Okay." I say before she hangs up.

"She's on her way. She lives about ten minutes away." I say. "Okay." The paramedic says, loading Abuela up into the truck.

The paramedics waited until Aunt Pepa got there. Abuela wasn't severely injured, just a broken hip.

Aunt Pepa gets out of her car and rushes towards me and Chris. I have a backpack in my hand with Chris's toys and my phone and charger. She talks to the paramedics before leading me and Chris to her car. She had to take her break off work to come here. She has to go back soon.

We get into the car and Aunt Pepa pulls out of the driveway, following the ambulance.

While she's driving to the hospital, she calls Dad and lets him know. He says he'll meet us there and he hangs up on her.

The stress is visible in his voice. I can't help but feel guilty about it.

We walk into the hospital, Aunt Pepa and Chris are a few paces in front of me as I walk behind them. "Dad!" Chris says as he uses his crutches to go over to Dad. Dad's standing beside the Buck guy I met a few days ago.

"Hey buddy. You okay?" Dad asks. Chris nods his head as Dad hugs him. I walk over to the two of them. "How's she doing?" Dad asks. "She's just in pain. Everything's fine. They said she will make a full recovery." Aunt Pepa says. Dad nods.

"I'll try getting off work, but for now, you're going to have to figure out what to do." Aunt Pepa says. "Love you guys." Aunt Pepa says, pressing a kiss to my head before rushing out the door.

"Okay, what do y'all say about going to the station for a little bit?" Dad asks. "Yeah!" Chris says excitedly. Buck laughs and so does Dad.

I smile at Chris before Dad leads us outside to a red jeep parked in the parking lot.
