I sit in the waiting room, my leg bouncing as I wait. The mask on my face sticks to my skin as sweat appears on my face.
"Lydia!" Dad says as he walks into the hospital. I sit up and go over to him, hugging him tightly. "What happened?!" Buck asks as him, Hen, Chimney, and Bobby walk in behind Dad.
"It's Nathaniel. His house was in the path of the dam debris. His house is gone basically, the water is to the roof." I explain. "I tried saving him, I did save him! He was awake but then he coded in the ambulance and now they won't tell me anything!" I say.
"Okay, okay. Calm down. You did what you could." Dad says. "It wasn't all I could've done! If I didn't get so tired, I could've saved him.. I could've done so much more." I say. "You got him out. That's the most important part, Lydia." Bobby says.
"Have you been checked out?" Buck asks. "No. Not yet." I say. "Someone came in coughing up blood after us so they forgot." I add. "Let us look at you then.." Chimney suggests. "I'm fine. All I did was swim in some water. He's the one I'm worried about." I say, fidgeting with my hands.
The door opens again and Miles walks in. "How is he?" Miles asks. "I don't know." I say. "He was alive and then he coded. It's just a mess of things right now." I say. "We're being called out to a call guys. We need to go." Bobby says suddenly.
Dad nods before pulling me into a hug, placing a kiss on my head. "Love you." I say. "Love you too." Dad says before they rush out and back to the truck.
Me and Miles sit in the waiting room, both of us talking as we wait for any news.

A doctor walks out of the back a few hours later and he walks over to me. "You're the girl that brought Mister Anderson in, right?" The doctor asks.
"Yeah." I say, standing up. Miles left a while ago. "He's awake and he's doing okay. He had some internal bleeding but we stopped it. He's going to be just fine. His parents are on the way." The doctor says.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." I say. "I'm sure you're the one to thank. If you didn't get him out right then and there, he would've died." The doctor says. She smiles at me before walking off.
I sigh before going out of the hospital and back to my car. I look in the back seat and I see my wet clothes. It makes me shiver thinking back to what happened.
I take a deep breath before turning on my car and driving back home.
