Joshs pov

I can't sleep, the nightmares from my fathers death keeps me away most nights. I often walk over to mums and check her but thanks to my super hearing I hear her crying every night from outside. I would do anything to ease her pain which is why I need to track down the bastard that killed my dad. I've been searching for years but still no leads. I've figured out he's not from a 'legal pack' so they're either rouges or illegal.

When a pack is formed it must alart the elders. They're a group of 3 men and 3 woman. They're the oldest of our kinds and know everything there is about packs. They keep the order  between packs and they are our 'court' I've asked them a few times but they've giving me nothing..

It's 1am and I'm sat in my office again going over that night. I hear a tap at my door and carter walks in looking defeated

"Hey man everything okay?" I try to read his face but as always he's got a blank expression.

"So, I was just doing the rounds, checking the boarders etc and when I went past your mums house I heard crying. I thought it was your mum but as I went to walk away I heard chloe"

I stare at him, chole Is my little sisters girlfriend and something is seriously off. Don't get me wrong I was shocked when Shannon introduced me and my mum to her the night I took the alpha title but It doesn't bother me she's gay. I've taken Shannon under my wing after dad's death and I love her dearly. It's just she's loosing herself slowly and I know it's chloe. Shannon has lost her smile, the twinkle in her eye, her charm and cheekiness. People keep saying its dads death and she'll be okay soon but I know her better than that.

"So? What was she doing?"

"She's making Shannon cry again man. Kept saying she knew she was talking to someone else and she's been cheating. I didn't want to get involved without permission"

"No worries. I'll link chloe now and give her a warning. Can you check on Shannon and let me know"

"Sure thing boss" he walks out and closes the door and I mind link chloe "my office now!!"

Since Shannon is only 17  and chloe is 19 so i can mind link her but Shannon can't use the mind linking ability yet, once her wolf comes forward around 18 she will be able to mind link me or any other pack member. She's 18 next month and I hope her wolf shows her chloes true colors. I would love to give chloe a punishment for the way shes treated my sister but I know Shannon will go mental at me. Chloe has convinced her they're mates but I don't believe it for a second.

The sound of the door opening snaps me out my thoughts. Chloes small frame comes into view, she only stands at around 5ft5, her blonde hair is in a plait and her blue eyes look at me before she lowers her gaze to the floor

"You called for me alpha?"

I point to the big chair in front of my desk and tell her to sit, I lean against the wooden desk, my legs crossed at the ankle and my arms crossed over my chest.

"Carter just done the round by my house. Do you know what her heard?"

She looks up at me and shrugs

"He heard someone crying"

"In all due respect alpha it was probably your mother, you know she strug-"

"NO! It's wasn't my mother, it was Shannon. He also heard you there"

"It's not what it seems like alpha"

"So how does my sister crying and you accusing her of cheating meant to sound like chloe?"

I see her gulp as she tried to figure out what to say

"I was told she was seen with another girl josh!"

"I'm your alpha you do not raise you voice at me and you use my title do you understand!"

She rolls her eyes "yes alpha"

"Now, I'm only going to tell you once chloe so listen carefully"

I squat down on the floor so I'm at her level, i look her in the eyes and I know my wolf is fighting for control.

"Shannon is the sister to your alpha. If you ever hurt her again, you will be inprissioned and punished"

She stars at me and I see she wants to fight me but she isn't that stupid

"Yes alpha. Now may I be excused, I need to get back to bed"

I nod at her and she leaves closing the door behind her. I take a deep breathe and try to calm down, I don't know what it is but I don't trust her.
